I don't want to be too scheduled as this is our first cruise of any kind, but for those of you who have been before do you typically do something in each port? Also if anyone has any experiences to share I would love to hear about them. I really enjoyed Hadley's Kohunlich review.
Rob and I almost always do ports "on our own". I know Hadley and family also do. Booking excursions through the cruise certianly has its advantages as well--all the guesswork, transportation, etc. is done for you. For us, once we were on our first cruise and made it to the ports of call, we realized the ease of getting about where we needed to go, and took it from there. A little advance research helps as well.
Rio would not have to be with us (he dislikes baseball more than the rest of us which is really saying something). I am sure many of you love baseball and I am thrilled for you, but I have to say for me there are few more mind numbingly boring ways to spend an afternoon.
Rio said his answer would be none, nothing really embarrasses him. After he said it, I realized he was right. I have never seen him embarrassed. Geez, I want that gene. I used to be terribly shy, but all the moving around we have done left me with two choices: have no friends, or force myself to learn how to be outgoing. I chose the latter. I think I do pretty well (but it IS an effort). I guess those who were on the TransAtlantic can say if I really do okay with that or not.
Hey Erik--we are 5 minutes into Xanadu right now! I will let you know how everyone likes it. And, we introduced Selina to HSM---she loves it! Great girl we have here.
I'll vouch for her, she's AWESOME!!!
Only 17 more days till HSM2!!
A huge thanks for the sacrifices that your family have been enduring to have DH in Iraq for all of us. My Goddaughters' father spent "only" one year away, so I was able to see many of the challenges that created for all of them.
Welcome and thank your husband also for his service. I have two military brothers myself, and appreciate the efforts and work.
Just dropping by......and wondering....has this cruise increased in price yet? I saw the fact that it dipped at CC twice and got to missing
DCL and saw the great prices....
PS I only read the past few pages, but you all seem very nice! Thanks
I think someone answered, but grab it while the prices are low. It's among the lowest I think I've ever seen for a 7 night, at least it was when I booked in May. I haven't been back to the DCL website since.
For the other poster who inquired about where to stay, I think it was Drea--we have always taken the red eye out Friday night (from Las Vegas) and it arrives at 6:20 am Saturday morning. Then we're on the first DCL bus, which leaves at 10 am, and gets to the port at 10:45, plenty of time to enjoy hanging out in the terminal until boarding time.
After hearing that in May, many cruisers have scared us into coming in a day early for any "just in case" unexpected delays, so in the future we'll come in on Friday and probably stay at WDW on points, then take transportation from there.
Also been lurking, just hadn't had much to post lately. Been SO busy here. Glad to see everyone though and thoroughly enjoy reading the posts!!! Have a good week.
Chris
