Just doing some catch up here. Welcome to Michele:wave2:

Here is some info about mom and I:

Me (26) I work in operations for a major retailer. Thankfully I work mostly days, but every once in awhile I have to work nights, which I don't really care for even though I'm a night owl. I have the best team of people to work with and sometimes I think they are the only reason I'm still working there. As far as free time goes I do enjoy planning trips to WDW, cooking and baking, hanging out with friends, reading, etc. I'm starting sewing classes next week so that should be interesting hopefully I remember everything from Home Ec.

Mom (57) My mom manages two local floral shops. When my she isn't keeping my dad in line she loves to travel and garden. I'm working on her to develop a greater love for all things Disney, but it hasn't happened quite yet.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've bee MIA alot lately. Just can't seem to catch up. Welcome to Michelle!

Well, I guess it's "truth or dare" time Ha!:rotfl: Everyone else is sharing so I guess I will, too. First, let me say that we unlike most of you, have the early dining as we will be dining with babies! We like to eat early so we can nap during the show! :goodvibes Really, I do stay awake except after I've taken the Meclazine!

Okay, I am 48 - I have worked for 15 years in medical offices, first 7 as the collections manager for a pediatric clinic, and then the last 8 as office manager for a surgeon. I just retired on Friday!   I am going to pursue my own business so I can own my life - I am very excited!

My DH, Jim is 45 and works for the Air National Guard as a big supervisor of some sort. His title is "Accessories Supervisor" so I tell everyone that he has to make sure everyone's purses and shoes match! :lmao: He loves it when I say that! We have been married for 27 years this September. I was his high school sweetheart  We met while working at a Restaurant - love at first sight - even though I tried to cover my eyes! He coaches high school basketball on the side. We like to go to baseball and basketball games, go camping and watch movies together.

We are really excited to be on this double dip cruise with our sons and their families, and with all of you great people - as well as hosting the "party in 6080!" :dance3:

Erik, hope your Sunday wasn't too hard.

I will be back on the boards soon! Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Tammie

Tammie that sounds really exciting :goodvibes .

We have early seating. We like to have some time after eating before sleeping & 8 is too late for us. Besides I'd never fit in any midnight buffets or anything from room service if we had late dinners.

Our info......
I’m 41 and a stay at home mum who owns rental properties. DH (42) co-owns a management consulting company that teaches Theory of Constraints (TOC) to manufacturers - how to make them go faster & make more money. In November we will have been married for 20 years.

Last year while we were on our big 3 month trip, DH decided he didn’t want to be operational in the company anymore, so he has delegated to 2 of his people. They run the day to day stuff & DH has a couple of clients that he talks to for about 1 hour a day. So he is semi-retired.

Our DD (10) does ballet & swimming & DS (7) does swimming, soccer & tae kwon do.

We love travelling, movies (DH & I go while the kids are at school), reading, watching rugby on TV (and some other sports) & of course all things Disney.

Tania

My turn!

I am __ (sorry - I don't give that info out :) , but I'm the same age as DH). I am a stay at home mom and homeschool my DS - he starts 2nd grade in the fall. I love to sew and have a small sewing, quilting business on the side.

DH (38, but will be turning 40 on the cruise!!!) Works as a software engineer at Nortel. He is a very talented musician (Just ask Cindifan) and plays the sax.

DS just turned 7 last week takes gutar and tae kwon do.

DD 4 takes ballet and tap.

Hey that makes at least 3 of us that homeschool:banana: Isn't it nice to be able to travel in December and not argue with a principal first?

Tammie--congratulations! Keep us posted on how the new enterprise goes.

I do agree - he is a very talented musician.

I am 38 & work for a global pharmaceutical company in NC. My department develops/executes the clinical trials that introduce investigational products (not yet FDA approved) into humans for the 1st time to determine their safety & such. Outside of work, I enjoy reading sci-fi/fantasy books, digital photography, singing & playing flute in our church's praise & worship team, dreaming about having a small farm one day. As you can see, there's just no time left in there for mundane things like housework. :rolleyes1

DH is 46 & drives a concrete mixer for a national company. (Word to the wise: be especially wary around those things as you never know how much sleep the drivers have gotten in the past week.) He enjoys surfing the web, drooling over motorcycles, singing & playing drums in our pwt & generally just goofing off.

We adopted DD 3 years ago from China. She's now 4 & certainly enjoys being the princess/diva that she is.

Hi, I haven't posted in awhile. I'm 56  and my DH will be 59 next month. I stay home and homeschool my DGD who is 5. My DH is pastor of a church which got flooded over the weekend up to the eaves. We live in SE Kansas and are stranded here right now. I hope the groceries hold out until the roads open up.
Cyndifan, We have your small farm. We have two horses, a pony, cats, dogs, ducks, chickens and 6 baby opossums that were orphaned. They'll be released as soon as they are old enough.
NHdisneylover, that makes 4 homeschoolers, and I sew and quilt too.
My interests are sewing and quilting, and wasting time on the internet.I play the trombone a little and sometimes do a solo at church.

Hey everyone---need some quick help--I'll post on the main forum too but want to ask you all first.

There is a small possibility that my parents may not be able to go with us.

Here's my situation. Right now we have 2 connecting cat 6 rooms. When making the reservations I put one of my kids in my parents room since we have 3. Otherwise I would have to have a cat 4 room. Well, one Cat 4 room is still more than 2 cat 9 rooms. I don't want to be stuck if they decide really close to the cruise that they can't go, SO I am switching our reservations to 2 connecting cat 9 rooms.

There are only 4 sets of connecting rooms left. In your opinions which ones would be best. The passporter says not to stay in 3 sets of them, but I don't have a lot of choices. The DIS stateroom reports don't have all of them.

Here they are:
2530&2532 (pretty far forward, under Upbeat/Radar Trap)
2138&2140 (pretty far aft, under Parrot Cay)
2638&2640 (pretty far aft, under Parrot Cay)
2146&2148 (very far aft, under Parrot Cay)

What do you all think? my TA is calling me back in the AM so some quick help would be appreciated.

Oooh! Insist upon connecting 9's 7001 & 7003!!! (that will bump us!) :dance3:

I am so bad!:cool1:

I'm thrilled to see the connector's are going away so quick. I'm really hoping somehow my upgrade will come!

Oooooo.......that sounds just about perfect. Although perhaps one or two more horses so one for each of the family to ride. Well, on 2nd thought, DH isn't big on riding horses - the kind w/4 legs, steel horses is another matter completely! One of our 1st dates was a 2 hr horseback riding outing. Little did I know when I set it up that DH doesn't really know how to ride or really care for horses all that much. He was a good sport about it though.

Hope the flood waters receed soon & that the groceries hold out. Were many of your church's parishioners affected?

I'm 37 and a stay-at-home mom of three. We also homeschool. My boys are 14 and 13, and DD is 4 1/2. Only the younger two are cruising with me. My oldest is a homebody like DH and they prefer to stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet while I take the two noisy kids away, LOL. I love to read, mostly fiction -- horror, suspense, thrillers and even cheesy historical romance novels. I also enjoy cooking and sewing. I'm not the best housekeeper though. My house is usually tidy, but not exactly clean, don't look in the corners or behind anything. ;)

DH won't be cruising with us, but he's 39, works for UPS, and is the drummer in a local rock band. He also likes riding dirtbikes.

DS 14 will be staying home with his dad. He spends more time playing video games than anything else, is a homebody (obviously), very easy going, other than teasing his little sister. I'm hoping to talk him into joining us on the cruise, but won't be holding my breath.

DS 13 is coming. He's into the typical teen boy stuff -- skateboards, music, dirtbikes, hanging out with his friends. He's very active and doesn't like sitting still for long. He's already talking about getting his driver's license in a few years... eek! I'm hoping he doesn't change his mind and back out of the cruise before next fall. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that his teen mind doesn't determine that it isn't cool to vacation with mom between now and then.

DD 4 will be cruising also. She'll actually turn 6 right after the cruise. Wow, I can't believe it, she's growing up way too fast for me, LOL. She likes all the typical little girl stuff -- playing dress ups, dolls and dollhouses, board games, playing in the sand. She takes acro, ballet and tap lessons and loves to dance and sing. She's the only one in my family who shares my Disney obsession and she's always talking about the next Disney vacation, just like me. I'm pretty sure she thinks she is really a princess, no thanks to the Disney CMs who insist on calling her one, LOL.

We live in a rural area of southwestern Pennsylvania, just north of the West Virginia border. DH and I both grew up in this area, both moved to Orlando after my high school graduation. We lived in Orlando while I attended the University of Central Florida. We've been married for 15 years and moved back to PA 14 years ago to raise our family.

Cyndifan, thanks for your concern. Most of our churchmembers were affected. Some lost everything. The water was bad enough, but there is contamination of sewage and oil from a refinery. The church was up to the eaves in water on a news video that we saw.

Hello, Chris! Glad to see you're back from visiting family! I'm SOOO sorry to hear about the damage to your church and community. We'll be saying some prayers for ya!

I don't post that often, but I am always lurking and reading.....okay here goes: Me44, DH50, DD14 and DS12 - DH is a Captain in FDNY and I work parttime as a teacher's aide in our elementary school K thru 2. I am also a girl scout leader to my DD's troop (yes, they are still Girl Scouts - now working towards their Gold Award). My DD is very much the teenager and all that entails. She is active in school clubs, plays JV softball, Varsity gymnastics and will hopefully play volleyball in the fall. My DS is also very active..plays football in fall, roller hockey in winter and baseball in the spring and summer. He starts middle school (grade 7) in September. DH coaches my DS football team and his baseball teams. We all enjoy bike riding, going to the beach, watching movies and playing board and/or card games. DH and I will be married 20 years this October. We all also enjoy vacationing, especially at WDW and DCL. This August will be our
4th DCL cruise and next year will be our 1st 7 night DCL cruise. Can't wait to meet everyone.

So homeschool teachers. . . anyone planning to teach on the cruise? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

California Screamin - Our prayers are with you too.

I'm making some secret plans (the destination unknown ticker below) to take my DH away for a 3 day cruise on October 4, 2007 :cool1: (Oct. 4th is his B-day) and am looking into ways to get to the ship (without flying). Our choices are renting a car and driving or taking an overnight train. I'm leaning towards the train.

My question is - the train stops at Winter Park (North Orlando) or downtown Orlando. I'm trying to figure out what area is better. We will have to get a rental car from there, but Budget will pick us up or we can catch a cab. I'm hoping someone who knows Orlando well or lives there can give me some advice so I can purchase the tickets.

Thank you and SHhhhhhh - don't tell my DH! :thumbsup2 This will be our first time away together (without the kids) in 5 years! I'm soooo excited. Oh, and it will be our first cruise. I think this will be a great way to preview before we sail next year! pirate:

I'm 90% sure this is the 3 day cruise Erica (zweihund), myself and her DH are taking this year as a pre-cruise to get us through until THIS cruise in sept '08. Either that or we're on the 3 days cruise AFTER this one...

What Erica's DH doesn't know yet is that i'm all for having another mini cruise early next year as another way to make this cruise not seem so far away :rolleyes1

YAY for mini cruises!:cheer2:

I have to admit, it's Erica's pre-trippie report and the mousesaver prices that pushed me over the edge (no pun intended) to suprise my DH  with this trip. Who knows - this might go so well we will have to take another "get away" to test the boat (even though we will be on the Magic) before Sept '08 with the kids:confused3
