When I went to school I took part in students exchange with Lafayette Highschool. The student I did the exchange with, CLIFF, and I are still friends. When Cliff got married two years ago he invited me and hubby Oliver.

I LOVE BOULDER!!! I love Celestial Seasonings...
Steffi.
(BTW: I already tried to answer yesterday, but it didn't work.
Oliver and I live in Bavaria/Germany. About 150km away from Munich)

Wow. It's so cool you know the area too AND that you still keep in touch with Cliff. I was a nexchange student to Spain when I as 15/16. I kept in touch with my host family for about 10 years afterwards, but we did eventaully lose track of each other.

It sounds like you are pretty far from where Dave usually travels. The company keeps sayign we migth get to live in Germany for a few years (we woudl jump at the chance) but I will belive it only when we are actaully on a plane flying there. I have only had hte pleasure of visiting Germany once during a very, very cold January. Dave is lucky and gets to go a few times a year and just loves it.

We actually live in Aurora. We're transplants. I've moved around a LOT; my husband, not so much.

I've been to the Florida and California Sea Worlds (many years ago), but have never made it to the Texas Sea World. It's a shame they spend less time on explaining the animals.

*twinkling eyes* So are you guys crazy Boulder hippies??? :rotfl: Those people are NUTS! They riot and burn couches in the streets up there!

:lmao: I've wandered around Boulder, and I agree, it is absolutely beautiful up there. We tend to do Sunday drives through the mountains, starting in Denver, going through the casinos, through Nederland, then back through Boulder.

*wave*

Brandie

:rotfl: We moved to Boulder (from East Texas) when I was 7. After almost 3 years in town my parents built a house on property that was out of town but technically part of Nederalnd (far enough out that we had to put in two extra utility poles just to get electricity). We stayed there six years before moving back to downtown Boulder (so I could go to Boulder High).

Yes, it was very much a hippie paradise back in those days:hippie: David was born and raised in Boulder but his dad was an IBM engineer and his parents pretty much missed the sixties:confused3 If anyone ever saw the show Dharma and Greg we joke that we are pretty much them (I am Dharma and he is Greg)--although (lest Jan who is cruising with us gets a bad rep) his mom is GREAT (not at all like Kitty).

:rotfl: Tooo funny! I look forward to meeting you on the boat! I would bring you some tea, but the stuff on the ship is really good!

Funny but true. My dad had hair down past his waist and an earring when I was born. His career throughout my childhood was that of a rock n roll DJ. We built a house in the mountains which was soley heated by woodstove. My mom could never understand why I dressed so conservativly in High School (I doubt even Boulder High lets kids get away with all the off the shoulder tops and short skirts I had but to my mom they seemed conservative:lmao: ) Yep, I was totally Dharma:hippie:
Dave, on the other hand, attended a Catholic School in Boulder from K-8 and then went to Regis Jesuit in Denver for high school. His dad wore a tie to work every day and will only listen to classical music (his mom likes show tuens and some 50s rock).
I look forward to meeting you also Brandie. Oh, and by the by, we can actaully by Celestial Seasonings at our local NH grocery store these days! Funny how that took off (but it is good).

Hubby and I have that kind of difference in our upbringing, but not so severe. He's Greg, too. My mom's closet is also hair-raising... My sister snagged all the hippie clothes a few years ago when bell-bottoms were back in style.

*nod* I know Celestial Seasonings is offered nationally, I was just offering some "from the source." :) You know, the fresh stuff! :rotfl: I actually grew up drinking Red Zinger, Sleeptime, etc, so moving close to the factory is pretty neat. Haven't yet made it on the tour, though, because I haven't been in Boulder on a Tuesday.

I also worked for IBM... No joke about the ties! Geesh. Thankfully, I worked in a somewhat laid-back group. Very neat people, too.

Brandie

Hadley, even though you seem more conservative now, I can TOTALLY see the Dharma and Greg thing! BTW, I LOVE Boulder! I went there with Scott on business trips a couple of times--had a great massage and bought some cool Birkenstocks! just a great town!

just Checking In

It's been a while since Ive posted. Ive been pretty busy lately

Hope all is well and everyone is Excited about their upcoming vacations and cruises.

We are most likely adding another room or two, to our reservations. We have a family of 8 but 3 of the kids may not come. Not too sure yet. When we go on our Sept. "07" DCL we will book their room(s)

Today, I got this hot tip from a poster on Erica's "Geeks on a Budget" thread and ordered tonight.

PassPorters.com just put up the closeouts on DCL and WDW books. They have the DCL deluxe starter kit for the 4th edition (2005) for $11.95!! This deluxe starter kits with the 3 ring binder sells for $40 in the stores. :cool1:

I've been reading the 3rd edition that I found at the library, so in my opinion, I absolutely feel $12 is worth it. Yet wait!! I'm not done!! If you already have an older version of PassPorter, register it on-line, and you get a code for a 30% discount on top of the closeout price. If you don't have a PassPorter already, sign up for their mailings, and immediately get a 20% coupon to use. So you can get the $40 kit for as little as $8.37!! I purchased two deluxe versions plus two of the Cruise Clues books, and my shipping cost was close to $5...so even that is reasonable.

Keep in mind when the 2008 version comes out in January, you can apply the repeat reader discount (30%) to the refill package. That will be less than $16 for a $22 retail priced purchase. They'll even inform you when it's time to order the 2008 edition.

I LOVE a deal!! Don't forget that they also had many other books for WDW on clearance as well.

Can you please tell me if the paperback passport book is included with this deluxe version package? Also, would you buy the WDW version or the DCL version? How can you get both in the one deluxe holder?
I'm just having one of those days.......thanks.:flower3:

We can buy CS even in Germany. But it's expensive.

Oli and I visited the factory two years ago. I just loved it!!!
Anybody remember the Peppermint room!?! *wooohoooo* I loved the smell but it was "aggressive".

It's a small world, isn't it?

Have a wunderschoenes Weekend, you all.

Hello! Just checking in to say Hi and to brag about the fact that we leave for our September 1-7 2007 cruise in just 9 weeks!

It's just not September without a Disney Cruise! :goodvibes

The deluxe version has loose leaf pages in a three ring binder, which is why you can add pages from the WDW version with the DCL version. The binder will not hold all the pages of both versions in one binder, however, you can pull out the pages that you want to ensure you have with you during your vacation and leave the remainder at home. So it's a pretty flexible way to organize your plans and/or tips. The pockets that come with the deluxe version are convenient a well. You do not get a paperback version of the book in addition to the pages within the binder.

As far as which one to purchase, that's entirely up to your vacation plans. Each book is entirely specific to either the cruiseline or the World. So if you choose to purchase both, my suggestion would be to buy the deluxe version of one, and the loose leaf refill pages of the other. You can then combine the DCL and WDW pages that you want to take along with you in one binder.

Hope that clears it up for you. :)

It's 94 degrees Farenheit here today. I wonder if I can get the family to Boulder today and tour the factory, versus doing chores.... *hrmmmm* Goofing off sounds so much more fun than grocery shopping!

LUCKY. It seems liek only yesterday we took the Magic across the Atlantic--it's hard to wrap my mind around her being back to her regular places in only 9 weeks. At least I will be at the World in September, enjoying that free dining and spending time with our friends so I can't complain too much.

We had some really hot days earlier this week (high 90s and HUMIDITY like you will never see in Colorado). It is so hard to be motivated to get things done when you are hot. I say ditch the chores and go smell the peppermint room (eye watering minty sensation there!).

jcemom--oooh a grand gathering event would be so neat to do. Will they let us do one if we aren't really linked up reservations wise soem otehr way???? But we are up for just about anything. If there are others who will be in the area (or live there) but not have park acess then perhaps we can do soemthing onsite but out of a park (dinner at a resort or some such).

Sandi--I wish Dave did travel your way as I know he'd love to see you. I haev been formulating a trip in my head which may or may not be actually feasible sometime in the spring. I am imagining flying from here to LA and spending a week there playing at DL and Legoland and trying to spend time with my sister in law, Kelly (and family) and Kathy (and family). Then flying to Vegas for a couple of days with Chris and Rob and then on to Pheonix to see you. I am thinking Southwest goes all of those palces so it just might be half way okay airfare wise. I think it is the hotels (especailly in L.A.) that will kill it. But, I keep dreaming about it, and maybe when winter sets in and prices start showing up I can figure something out. I don't want to wait over a year to see all my friends! Oh yeah, and have I mentioend to all you sweltering folks just how gorgeous it is here in New Hampshire in the fall;) ?

I was thinking once about how odd it was that I don't really know what people do for a living either. Like you and Darell--I have no idea what you do.

Dave is the "director of tooling" for a rubber company. So, he is basically an engineer/manager type. I know he would love to visit you, but pretty much all of his travel is in the midwest, Georgia and Europe (they keep threatening Japan but then never actaully send him. NOT that Japan would be bad other than the LONG flight and length of time away from home).

I was a teacehr (preschool and junior high English) before I had my own kids. Now they keep me totally busy (we homeschool) and I lead two Girl Scout troops (Marika's plus Daisies), help at dance and karate class, play unpaid travel agent to all of our families, play corporate wife, etc. It is a great life.

So how 'bout the rest of you???? Introduce yourselves a bit. A few of us from the last cruise know each other and careers, etc but lets all get to know one anotehr better.

Hadley - I am finally catching up on postings. I would love a visit (by any of you). I am a stay-at-home mom, corporate wife, volunteer at various events and the shuttle for children in the summer to movies, bowling and various musical lessons. Darrell is a healthcare compliance attorney and right now, hating his work. Hopefully it will get better. I will keep you posted on that. Our favorite vacation is WDW or DCL of course, but we love our USC Trojan football team and always go to LA for a game or two in the fall. My husband and I went to school there so it is dear to our heart! Would love to hear about other people too and get to know people before our trip. I am still catching up on the thread. I love it that it is so active.:)

Thanks for the Passporter information. I just ordered one for DCL and one for WDW. Can't wait to get them and read them. :tinker: sending some pixie dust to all

We will be booking this trip on Monday. My daughter will be 12 on the trip and hopes to have others her age to socialize with. All the early dinner seatings are gone. Has anyone done late before. I don't like the ideal of seeing the shows first and then dinner. Buy hey, its a disney cruise so it doesn't really matter!

Welcome Michele!

We always do the late seating, but we also don't have kids so it's more convenient for us......we tend to eat later at home anyway. :thumbsup2

Happy weekend everyone! I worked the morning and went straight to our homeowner association block party, so now I am POOPED. I wonder if I can make it past 9pm? Time for some coffee..... :surfweb:

:goodvibes Welcome, Welcome!!!

I'm sure your daughter will be making lots of friends. I'm keeping track of everyone, and from what I see to date, there will be one other 12 yr old girl, and four 11 yr old girls. If you haven't made it through all 72 pages of the thread yet :rotfl: , you'll find that one of the ideas that will be carried out is to have a pre-cruise supervised on-line meets for the kids. You may want to check out the links in my signature to see a sampling of more of the exciting ideas this great group has come up with.

Looking forward to hearing more from you as the days tick away!!

BTW, your family represents our DIS group's 90th cabin, and 100th child!! :grouphug:

Late dining is where ALL the fun is!!

We always do late dining as well....6:30 is way too early to eat dinner...and on port days it's a mad rush to get on board, get changed, and get to dinner...whereas if you have late dining...you usually still have at least 40 minutes between the end of the show and your dinner...so sometimes we will go to the show BEFORE getting ready for dinner even. Also late dining is sometimes nicer because there is no rush to get done....if you're the type who likes to make an event out of dinner you can stay longer because they are not trying to scoot you out to prepare for another seating after you.

Lots of fun folks are in late dining, though, so never fear!
