AND again no email telling me of the change I will not be using them again!

any words of wisdom???

Oh my. I would be so mad, too!!!! I'm sorry. I hope you manage to get something that works for you.

In better news.....

I applied for a promotion back in FEBRUARY, and right when I was supposed to get it, the whole agency went on a hiring Freeze!! So, no one, internal or external, could receive new positions. Well, it Finally came through, this week! :goodvibes I'm supposed to receive the details (i.e. SALARY!!!) from my boss, but he's out of town until next Monday! What's a girl to do?! :confused3
It's all good though, I'm just excited that it's finally coming to fruition. :)

Also, I'm starting to stress with everyone starting to pack! I know if I mention those words to my husband, it will not produce a good reaction! I guess I'll just have to try and sit on my hands for a couple more weeks. If that's possible. :lmao:

Awesome on the promotion! Congrats!! You can celebrate that on the cruise, too. :)

Pack??? I'm just starting to shop for stuff we need!!!!! I can't pack yet.

HaHa...they started my 4 year old on a Monday 1/2 day, two days off then a full day....after the first full day he tells me "mommy I've done big boy school I can stay home today". Yeah...to smart for his own good that one.

Got my FE gifts in yesterday and I have plenty of extras for other people who sign up for it. I'm almost done with my FE itself (ok..a little worried....mine is going to be between 11 and 12 inches wide.....I'm hoping that isn't to big based off of Erik's dimensions and his photo......

LOL!! He's no dummy.

I still don't have my FE gifts. I just didn't have time to really look for something today. Next week ...... Or maybe I will just make something.

Hey--the more tips the better--you are not cheating at all;)
I was thinking it would be great if we could consolidate all the tips in one place--but my feeble totally computer impaired mind has no idea how. I figure at least they will all be on what --30 or 40 pages:lmao: if we post them all in the same week:goodvibes

YES!! Please do. I was wondering how I was going to keep up with all of the tips.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good biology curriculum with a lab? I really dislike what we bought for Sadie and need to get something else. Or any good all around curriculum?

Thanks.
Julie

No, sorry. We used Switched On Schoolhouse for Biology. I wouldn't particularly recommend it. It works ok, I guess, but it's just not for us.

Do you have a Michael's crafts around you? They have the 3 sheets for $5.99, and after you use the 40% off coupon, it comes to $1.20 a sheet + tax. Also, for those of you with the Xyron machine, don't forget they have great magnet cartridges. I admit I forgot about that (and I have some!!) until I read that suggestion this past week on the DISboards. I even have 2 sizes of Xyron machines AND magnet cartridges for both. :headache:

I have one, too!!!!! I got my laminate/magnet refills on Saturday. :thumbsup2 Now, I have to figure out what I want to do with them.

The nice thing about shopping for summer clothes (for a hot weather cruise) when school starts is that all the summer things are on clearance!!! I got a TON of stuff today.

OH!!!! And the Disney Store at our mall had character shirts for $5 for adult and kid sizes. Cute shirts, too. I got a bunch. Go figure.:confused3

Arin, I LOVE THIS IDEA! What a great way to save space in luggage...may even do this for my DH, since he is such a clothes whor...ummm...nevermind?!:scared:

I actually do this for my husband too, not just to save space, but for the same reason as the children, I don't want to worry about whether are not his clothes are clean or matching :rotfl: Have I mentioned that I have control issues? :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Can I find this coupon online somewhere?

They do not put their coupons on-line, but I can tell you that this week, they don't have any out there. Unless it's the Christmas holiday shopping season, they only come out every other week. So be sure to pick up the Sunday paper this coming weekend. BTW, they also take competitor coupons, which would include Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's. So if you have any of those, they'll be useful at Michael's, too!

WE are heading out to soccer practice, here is a link I saved:

http://manullang.com/DCLcruisingtips.htm

there is a GREAT tips link on the main Cruise forum, I will search for it when I get back, I made the mistake of Printing it at work, it was like 80 pages, a few repeats but A LOT of Great advice! If anyone has it and wants to save me some work feel free to post it

I got my quarters today at Wal Mart and packed my magnetic card with all my important documents, keep them coming!

And the coupon this week at HObby Lobby's web site is 40% off any one item ;)

Is your DH colorblind like mine? If I don't set out clothes for him in the morning, he inevitably comes out in green shorts and an orange shirt. Or a black shirt and blue shorts. And then he gets all irritated when I tell him it doesn't match :lmao:

Of course, some men don't have that excuse.....and they STILL dress like that! :confused3

Here come the first Fay bands! This is the slowest moving storm I think I have ever had to sit through. We took the dog out about 30 mins ago because we thought it might be the last chance, and let me tell you, it feels WIERD outside. Like a vaccuum.

I just wish it would go over us already, I'm tired of sitting around watching the news people throw palm fronds into the wind just to show you how strong the gusts are.

That's a true moment from the 5 o'clock newscast, and so is this:

"I'm standing in ankle deep water, folks!"

WHY??? :sad2:

from Applied Magnets...magnet4less.com, here is the direct link:

So far I am very impressed. Less than an hour after I made the order I got my shipped notification from UPS. They will be here Friday! (now to find cheap ink!)

Thanks! I'll have to look into it. I just might have to put magnets on the doors around me too. :rotfl:

I am my own Air Freshener

You keep telling yourself that, ok :lmao:

I never knew XYRON had magnet cartridges! Can you get these at AC Moore or Michaels (I have both stores near where I live and near where I work). I have the small pull through little "x" and I have the medium one.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Just came home and found the best package!!!! I got my FE in the mail today!!!!

TIFFANY YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!! :worship:

There's no way I could have put together something like my FE. I can't stop looking at it!!!

I have the 900, and it has magnet cartridges. MY Michael's doesn't carry them for that size, though - and didn't offer to call another one to find out if they did. I was frustrated with that when I went to another Mike's and found them.

The little one doesn't have them, though - that I know of ....

We don't have an AC Moore, but I can say that at least Michaels and JoAnn's have this product.

I have the first generation machines, so I can' only speak to the Xyron 850 (the 8.5" wide) and the blue Xyron 510 (I think that's the number and believe that one is now called the 5" Creative Station). I haven't had to buy any of those cartridges in quite awhile, but they certainly have made them in the past. I doubt the little "X" guy has that option though. However I bet your medium sized guy can get a magnet refill!

Hi all - Just a tip for the parents of the little ones to keep busy.......I bought DS3 some color wonder books with the markers. They cannot color on anything except the color wonder paper or books. I bring them when we go to a resturant to keep them busy. They have small ones I have seen lately so they do not take up as much room. We bring them to church as well!

Not a packing tip, but a tip nonetheless. I will have to think about the packing tips.......

BTW if anyone is looking to buy Bonine for the trip, you can buy chewable generic meclezine tablets. They are supposed to be over the counter but the pharmacy would not sell them to me without an Rx so I ordered them online.......It was $7.32 including shipping for a bottle of 100.

Ok, that pharmacy was whacko. I got Bonine over the counter at my HMO's pharmacy for like $3, but I can't remember how many I got. I also got them OTC at Wal-Mart.

WHACK-o.

I got Bonine brand too over the counter but this was the generic which was much cheaper than buying boxes and boxes for the kiddos.

At Michael's arts and crafts I found back in the frame section a magnetic sheet that has like a page protector and the whole back is a magnet. You can just slide in whatever you want. They have several different sizes. One is 3x3 one is 8 x 10 and a 4 x 12. They were all $1.99 This would make it super easy for switching out designs or just for reusing down the road for other things.

We also bought some magnetic tape that is sticky on one side and magnetic on the back to print card stock and then just attach the magnets. Haven't done any printing yet but have been working on the designs.

A great packing tip - we take a collapasible laundry hamper that folds flat in your luggage. We set it up in our room and put all our dirty clothes in it so they are not scattered all around the room and then at the end of the trip we put it all in a 13 gallon trashbag and that way we know what clothes are dirty and just pull them out of the bag and wash.

Can't wait to see the link for all these great tips that people are posting. I have been jotting them down on paper to keep them in mind.

Another item I found at Michael's arts and crafts was a create your own board book. It is a blank board book with 14 pages. You can create anything you want out of it, sturdy cardboard. I decided to purchase one $7.95. I am going to have the characters sign it and then post pictures inside.

]...I am all over consolidating the tips.. unless someone else wants the job??? Ill make another sharable link for it tonight! :)

Ok all the TIP sheet is in my signature.. I will also add it to the DDD website once i get home.. back to work I go.. BLA

God love ya! Glancing through it, I was cracking up that some of our funny friends' tips are included! :rotfl:

FYI all, I added Drea's link to Post #1 with the QOTW link....so now you have THREE easy places to access it!

MORE PACKING TIPS....
(I knew I had some more at home I wanted to mention) :)

MAGNETIC CLIP (or magnet): hang on the door on the inside of your cabin so you can put your Navigator and any family notes so they are easy to find and see
POWER STRIP: a necessity if you have phones, battery chargers, laptops, toothbrushes, razor, etc. to plug in
SUCTION CUP HOOKS: these give you even more space to hang the wet swimsuits in the shower

Instead of taking the hamper, my dh takes 5 trash bags - one for each family member - and we use those for our dirty clothes each day. He hangs them in the closet or bathroom. Remember, though, that I wash clothes by person. Each person has a different day of the week for their clothes to be washed.

The board book idea is awesome! I love the thought of having the characters sign that. Cute, cute.

Since I'm planning on taking a carry-on that is larger than I usually do, does anyone know just how large my purse can be?

If the kids take a carry-on can they still take their backpacks as a personal item?

Just trying to find a way to take everything.

SUCTION CUP HOOKS: these give you even more space to hang the wet swimsuits in the shower

Ggggrrrr.........that was the tip I was going to give. :)

Ok, here's a couple more I've seen:

clothes pins w/hooks on the top (not sure where to find these though). here's what's been suggested about these:
I always pack clothespins that have a hook at the top. They take up very little packing space but are a great multi-purpose item. These are great to hang wet bathing suits in the shower area, and hang things on towel racks, in closets, and on the back of the door handles. We also use them to hang up/hold extra items like scarves, belts, hats, etc. in the closet. You can also use them to hang multiple items on one clothes hanger.

hangers:
bring your own hangers to supplement those found in the closet

dryer sheets:
pack 1 or 2 between layers of clothes so they will smell fresher when they are taken out of the suitcases. This can also help a bit w/keeping wrinkles away.

alarm clock:
bring your own - the cabins have a clock, but it doesn't have an alarm. we'll probably bring our sound machine/alarm clock for white noise.

We used the laundry basket last time and it was great. We take an empty suitcase to put all the dirty clothes and keep any clean one is a different one. It really doesn't matter as I will wash everything once home.

I am not all that creative, can someone tell me what a board book is? Sounds really neat. Lois
