Someone posted a question asking if anyone was excited about the olympics....and the answer is YES YES YES!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I live for the olympics!!! I primarily do cheerleading tumbling/coaching now....but my background is in competitive gymnastics before cheerleading and the gym I work at where my cheerleaders train is a USA gymnastics member club with an amazing and high level competitive program for both men and women. We have 3 staff who are former olympic and world championship gymnasts from Bulgaria. We have numerous gymnasts who have competed at the national championships and have won national titles and who have gone on to get college scholarships and compete at NCAA level...and our head coach's son, Eddie, is a gymnastics prodigy. He has dual US and Bulgarian citizenship and, at only 16 years old, he was invited last year to compete at the World Championships for Bulgaria in germany. He also competed at the US Junior National Championships last year and placed 8th in the all-around against boys much older than him.....and he got 2nd place on vault is the reigning national champion on floor exercise! There is strong hope that he will be on an olympic team himself in the future...perhaps as soon as 2012!

So I come from a strong gymnastics background and community.....

....and we are all excited about the Olympics!!! :goodvibes

Awesome!!!!!!!!!

My DS (4) was in gymnastics for a bit but grew tired of it and wants to do piano or something else, maybe swim team or soccer.

That sounds like a great job to have. Sounds like you love what you do. Gymnastics is my favorite part of the competitions as well. I also like diving. Have fun watching the Olympics.

Ended up cleaning and straighting last night that I missed the opening for the Olypics completely forgot out it. Im bummbed its my favorite part. Oh well Im sure it will be on youtube at some point LMAO Got to love modern technology.

And is it SATURDAY ALREADY.... :rolleyes1 :scared:

Hi, Drea.

Uuuummmmm.........TODAY is Friday, not Saturday. The opening ceremonies are being broadcast TONIGHT. (They are actually already occurring due to the time difference - 12 hrs, but will be on TV tonight.)

Have you already started w/the DOTDs?? ;)

Ok, that got me to thinking........did I miss something???

Anyway, I double-checked & on our listing for DirecTV it has things starting at 7:30PM (Eastern) tonight - Opening Ceremony.

Last night was the big SYTYCD results show. Sad reflection of the state of things that it was one of the highlights of my evening. :rotfl:

Drea - correct me if I'm wrong but it's only FRIDAY and the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics is on NBC TONIGHT!!!! I know that technically they've already happened since we're 12 hours behind but they'll be showing them in their entirety tonight.

BTW - I'm with everyone else - I'm a nut about the Olympics and there is so much to see!!! I'll be a crazy channel surfer over the next two weeks. AND, I believe you can literally watch twenty-four hours (on one channel or another) if you have cable. I wonder how much work I can get done sleep walking :rotfl:

Yes there is popcorn in sealed bags but you have to pay for it.

Nothing to stop you from going to Plutos and grabbing snacks and bring them into theater though

popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn::

Regarding Gramto3's question about the message boards....

the cabins and DIS users who volunteered to be the message centers do NOT have to provide their own wipe boards or markers. I will have those supplies for you and give them to you at the port. I am going to custom make a very simple wipe board for each door (probably using our cruise logo) and it will attach to the door with magnets already attached to the back. Dry erase markers are also being donated.

So message center folks don't have anything to worry about pre-cruise except for meeting me at the port and picking up their boards!! :)

Go Erik:woohoo: THANKS:hug:

Also to any of you who are not mesasge board cabins. We are deck 5 in the :stateroom closest to the Oceaneer's Lab (I think the kids counted it as 32 steps from our door to the door to the lab:rotfl2: ) so you can remember it as a possibly conveineint place to check for an update as you drop off or pick up kids even if you are staying on antoher deck:thumbsup2

Guess what we did at work today? Gathered up all of the patients on our unit and took them to the front of the hospital and staged an Olympic torch relay! It was a hoot.....one of our therapists went all out and made "torches" from tissue paper and flashlights, and made flags for the rest of the patients to hold. We carried a boom box and played Olympic music!

Sometimes work is fun :thumbsup2

Heather - looking forward to your email :goodvibes .

Erik - I love watching gymnastics too. It is my favourite Olympic sport. I used to do gymnastics when I was a kid but had to give it up because of a knee problem :sad1: .

We're big Olympic fans here. he kids are doing projects on them at school. We are lucky as we are only 4 hours ahead so TV coverage is on when the kids can watch most of it if they want. My DS's teacher is thinking of bringing in small TV so they can watch some at school in the afternoon. I certainly will be watching as much as possible.

Drea - It's Saturday here :lmao: .

Tania

Erica - sounds like you had fun. What a good idea. Bet the patients enjoyed it.

Ok .... I am such a hoarder (please read that correctly ..... :) ). I decided today to see if I had some inkjet magnet sheets left from when I did more graphic work. I have about 15 sheets left!!!! Yippeeeeeee! And one of the packages comes with 4 Disney character sets. :woohoo: I'm so excited.

LOVE the olympics...gymnastics is my FAVORITE to watch! I love the opening ceremonies but I have to work tonight:(

7 weeks from today we will in the air flying to MCO:cool1:  Man I am SOOOOOOOOOO excited
