We started on some of our shirts and door signs. We tried on some clothes (Pirate costumes, Chinese outfits for semi-formal night, Mad's formal dress, Sadie's formal dress, I'm afraid to try on my gowns:scared1: ). Wow, I'm making more progress than I thought. Yay me!

We start school on the 18th. Anyone else start in August? No break for me though, only the little ones are leaving the house for school to provide a break for me, and speech therapy for Alex.

Julie

UGGGG I still have so much to do for this cruise also but do I do it.. nope just get on here and make list after list of what I do need to do LMAO.

Boys start school here on the 18th also. They get out the end of June and have TONS of time off inbetween. Not to mention EVERY Wed now is a short day. How come it wasnt like this when I was in school LMAO:rotfl:

Ok going to go print more of my magnets out LMAO. At this rate I might be decorating the cabins around me I have so many LOL

I have read several times (but of course cannot find it now) that Port Canaveral (not DCL itself) changed their rules in the past year and that you may no longer check botteld water nor other liquids beyond basic tolietries and must now carry any beverages on board yourself. However, I have not crusied since reading this so hopefully someone else can confirm (or find where it is written at least)

PHEW! :scared: Thank you so much for this...I'm gonna check into it -- would hate to have all my water confiscated! :sad2:

Kimberly, I'll take a photo of our frame matte tonight and I'll look to see what tip we used....Ours came out fabulous - way better than we imagined and one of our most treasured souvenirs!

Oh I would greatly appreciate seeing it!!

....And how is it possible that I booked this cruise SIX HUNDED AND FIVE DAYS out, but now that I'm leaving in less than fifty days I'm rushing around like crazy to get everything done???...

I assure you it *IS* possible! Yet Adrienne....you are the one who STARTED the Double Dip Delight thread! You gave us our name!!! LOL
(j/k! You're still not alone!)

...Anybody excited for the Olympics? I personally can't wait! I was at the Olympics in Sydney in 2000 and it was just amazing. :)

Oh my yes! Between the Olympics and Big Brother Afterdark, I won't be sleeping the next two weeks! :rotfl2:

Kimberley-I wanted to go so badly-but no one to go with!...

Awe! You should have gone anyways! You know that everyone is family with this "cult"! Next time you know to join me though.

I got back a little more than an hour ago. My friend Peter is driving to Indiana University in the morning to watch the semi-finals and finals over the weekend. He's SOOOO GEEKED UP!!

I think everyone in the theater greatly disagreed with who the judges put in first place tonight. (I won't say who it is in case you want to go to www.DCI.org yourself to look at scores.) In fact, the corps that got top spot tonight didn't even get a thunderous applause from the theater audience after their performance. I don't think I clapped at all and said "THAT was disappointing". In my unskilled opinion, I would have put them in 3rd place honestly. When/if you look at the scores, notice the GE scores for the top three corps!!

Yes, she told me she has an email pal from the cruise and can't wait to meet her. :flower3:

My DD is looking forward to meeting her as well. They should have a good time together :thumbsup2 .

NZMUM--would you be willing to PM with me about a trip to NZ? We are in the beginning stages of planning a family trip to NZ in December (a few years down the road) and it's been hard to know where to begin. We've got two kiddos, so if you would be willing to talk with me I would love you forever

Heather - I have sent you a PM :) .

NZMUM--I'll send you an email today!! Thank you sooooo much. I've been really stumped with all the choices!

We'll be starting school the first week of September. I'm not ready to hunker down yet :)

While in Cocoa Beach, I had saved a ton of links to magnet idea sites (thanks to all who sent them!) So during naps today I am going to get started...I feel so far behind some of you!!

Speaking of the cheese platter from room service....I think it's my favorite thing on board! I looooove cheese, and granted, it's not this exotic dish of rare cheeses....but it is yummy & I love it so very much. We never did order any cookies & milk on our last cruise. Need to do that. Reese would love that at night! Nothing like a little sugar before bedtime....:dance3:

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

My friend at WDW who was going to try to get us T-Rex ressies during our WDW pre-cruise stay PMed me last night and told me that they have officially pushed back the opening of the restaurant (and I'd assume the shop associated with it) until November 2009. So that means those of us who were hoping to get to visit there won't get a chance in the dates before or after our cruise.

November 2009? Wow....that's a BIG delay. Wonder why? Bummer for those who were going to try & eat there

Oops....I meant 2008....:lmao: I must have been so despondent that it FELT like it would be 2009......but it isn't...it's November 2008!!! Thanks for catching that!:thumbsup2

Someone posted a question asking if anyone was excited about the olympics....and the answer is YES YES YES!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I live for the olympics!!! I primarily do cheerleading tumbling/coaching now....but my background is in competitive gymnastics before cheerleading and the gym I work at where my cheerleaders train is a USA gymnastics member club with an amazing and high level competitive program for both men and women. We have 3 staff who are former olympic and world championship gymnasts from Bulgaria. We have numerous gymnasts who have competed at the national championships and have won national titles and who have gone on to get college scholarships and compete at NCAA level...and our head coach's son, Eddie, is a gymnastics prodigy. He has dual US and Bulgarian citizenship and, at only 16 years old, he was invited last year to compete at the World Championships for Bulgaria in germany. He also competed at the US Junior National Championships last year and placed 8th in the all-around against boys much older than him.....and he got 2nd place on vault is the reigning national champion on floor exercise! There is strong hope that he will be on an olympic team himself in the future...perhaps as soon as 2012!

So I come from a strong gymnastics background and community.....

....and we are all excited about the Olympics!!! :goodvibes

Gymnastics is one of my favorite Olympic sports!!!! How exciting!!! Have you ever heard of Parkettes in Allentown, PA? I live quite close to there and my cousin actually makes leotards for competitors.

I can't wait to watch the opening ceremonies tonight! :)

Of course I've heard of Parkettes....I actually know Kristin Maloney---not WELL, but we've met several times. Parkettes has a long history of turning out great athletes and several national and world competitors....although they have nobody on the team this year. Actually a number of the "old guard" gyms are missing from the team this year......like Mary-Lee Tracy from Cincinatti Gymnastics, Kelly Hill from Baltimore, and the Parkettes.

Actually I try to attend the national gymnastics congress and often have opportunity to meet some of the best gymnasts and coaches in the world. I attended a training camp when I was younger with Dominique Dawes and Betty Okino.....and I had an opportunity to work with Stella Umeh from Canada once (who went on to success in the Cirque show Varekai after she retired from world and college gymnastics)....and one of our young gymnasts is part of the national "TOPS" program which is a program for young girls who have the potential to be amazing and so she spent several weeks at the Karolyi ranch training (which is where the women's olympic team trains right before the olympics and Marta Karolyi is the head of the US women's team).

Two quick questions then I'm off with DGD to Wally World to buy my stuff to make Pasta Salad for Mom's Football Camp tonight.

1. How long do I make my ribbon to hang from the fish for my FE?

2. How big of a dry erase board do I need for my message board on my cabin door and how do I fasten it there?

Later ~

Quick question...........
When does the offical voting for the meeting place end????????

I'm fairly certain that I used to have a link to a post Erik made for me some time ago when I asked the same question. Let me go look at some archives of Post #1....

Quick question...........
When does the offical voting for the meeting place end????????

I propose through the end of this month. :confused3 I just want to make sure that those who are going on vacation a week or more prior to the cruise are well aware on where to gather for the Meets.

I've been watching and have noticed that the number of votes are still going up, so I don't think everyone has voted yet.

THat's why I was thinking of putting a time limit on it like we did with the FE/Screct Mickey list

Ended up cleaning and straighting last night that I missed the opening for the Olypics completely forgot out it. Im bummbed its my favorite part. Oh well Im sure it will be on youtube at some point LMAO Got to love modern technology.

And is it SATURDAY ALREADY.... :rolleyes1 :scared:

Hi all,
I am out of the loop with the boards. I can't keep up with all the posts. So my questions may be repeats.:confused3

1) Is there any type of group shirt we are going to have? I know several people mentioned transfer paper, etc so just didn't know if anyone had a design picked out that would be great for the entire group.

2) This is silly - but do they have popcorn at the MovieTheatre on board? Love my popcorn. Just wondering.:3dglasses

Have a great weekend.

The kids are excited about the Olympics. I put start of school back a week so they could watch at least some. When we were in Beijing in January, they drove us past a few of the stadiums, and the Olympic village, which was seriously still under construction. The venues looked finished, but not the village.

Here are a couple not very good photos we took (from one of the highways) of the "Bird's Nest" where the opening ceremonies will be:

This is part of the water sports stadium with the bird's nest in the background.

The haziness in the photos is indeed pollution. Beijing was very hazy both times were were there, a little better this time than last.
