Hadley, I'm hoping to hear from you and to hear that you're okay. I saw Epsom in the news this morning for the severe weather. The footage was alarming. I Google-Mapped you from there, and it appears to be only 30ish miles from you. Are you doing okay?

I checked on Hadley yesterday afternoon and she emailed me saying she was fine, the bad weather was at least 70 miles from her. Thank goodness!!!

She also said she was tied up with a little person in her house so talking on the phone to me was impossible... :rotfl: I completely identified with that feeling, but I have 2 big people in my house... :scared:

ETA: I'm talking to her now and she's fine.

Acheron is out? DANG I go away for a week on business, spend a week catching up at work and miss everything on the boards and in the book world. Well I know what I'll probably spend the first day on board reading since I won't have time to read until then.

I evidently have my dates wrong. My FIL checked yesterday and Barnes and Noble said it comes out Aug 2.

I have no understanding of why I was getting hounded by emails from her publisher until this past Sunday, though. :headache:

Hi All (especially Kimberly). We are safe and sound but thanks for thinking of us! Yep, the possible tornadoes were all the way out at the coast. It did turn out a lot of the flooding, builidng collapse, etc. was very near here. Odd because at our house we had some hard rain and wind but not nearly as bad as several other storms we have had this year. Our worst storm was the day of Rio's dance recital (June 22): severe thunderstorms, tons of hail and tornado warnings. I was actaully glad it came during the reciatel stuff ebcause at least I figured Rio was ina big brick school building which was probably one of hte safer places to be if a tornado were to strike (which it did not that day--phew).

Hadley - so glad to hear you and your family are safe and sound.

Thanks. On another note I just realized I was so distracted by my new job I never even posted a question of the week. Sorry. I promise I will come up with a good one for next week.

glad to hear e/o is ok. I am down our beach place(mobile home) outside Rehoboth Beach, DE and it poured here all Wednesday night. Up home we got over 3.5" of rain and some damage:eek: . Couple of people in the area got hit by lighting but e/o is ok and out of the hospital already. My DH works for the local water company(supervisor of all the pumping stations) and they had alot of clean-up work yesterday. It sure was a nasty afternoon and night

Can you tell me the pros and cons of the different kind of video cameras:
The ones that record on:
DVD
Memory card
MiniDv

I like the idea of the DVD ones because you can just put them right into the DVD player to watch it, but they are a little bit more bulky than the others.
As for the other 2 kinds, how does a person who is not so good at "technical" stuff transfer the videos onto DVD easily????

The best format right now is MiniDV Tapes...while DVD & memory sticks are out there...they have not been proven relaible or up to snuff...In order to transfer your tape onto DVD's you can purchase a stand-alone DVD burner which also will transfer your photos to DVD's with slideshows, effects, ect.
SONY makes a good one that is affordable...

hope this answers your questions

OK, what about a spare battery for this camcorder? Where can I get the best price? You are pretty good because I checked this model elsewhere and I could not find it cheaper, that is unusual! I can always find things cheaper....that means one thing.....you are a bargain shopper like me!

Thanks,
Crissi

Spare batteries can be ordered anywhere...these batteries tend to cost some $$$....don't be fooled about cheap batteries...They do not last as long as the more expensive ones....It pays to buy both good tapes & batteries :cool2:

also hard drive? yet I saw those are more expensive.

TOday I went to Circuit City on my lunch and played with camera's and camcorders. If only I won the lotto LOL. I really like the JVC you suggested Charlie. My only question is... how do you transer the mini dv to say a dvd? Can you plug it into your computer and download it then burn to a dvd? Or is there a player for the mini dv. I had an older sharp before that took 8mm tapes and basically when it went caput it ate the last tape. I had a bigger vsh tape to put the 8mm into to play. Is there something like that for the min dv's.

(Also I have to say you know your deals... so far that website is the cheapest even including shipping!)

Still deceiding between the canon s5, or the sd1100 I want the smallness of a camera but I love the 12xzoom. after that they basically have a lot of the same features. Desicions Desicions Desicions:rolleyes1

**also I have some packing list I will upload for everyone... then you all can determin which one you like better and alter to your preferences! :)

You can use the provided USB cable to download video to your computer or get a stand alone DVD burner....

As far as cameras go...all cameras have the same technogly inside them...what you are paying extra for are the features they have...along with the megapixels...any point & shoot camera with 7.1 - 10.0 megapixels are great..You only need more megapixels if you plan on making prints bigger than 16x20

Oh and about the Fish Extenders. Are there any kids on here that like High School Musical or Hannah Montana? I have a couple of extra things. I didn't want to give them to somebody that doesn't like them.. ha. If you can PM me and let me know which one your child likes, how many kids you have that like them and their age. Thanks!

Hadley and Family, glad you are all ok:)

I got my disney rewards card yesterday in the mail, it pays for Most of the tips:cool1:

Rachel has started reading my passporter and is SHOCKED by all the restaurants:thumbsup2

ONLY 64 days, WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I am working tonight then off until Thursday, have a good day everyone

Got to love it...I finally get my husband to agree to watching our DS so I can have a mani/pedi while on board...well the mani I scheduled for the exact time I wanted (toward the end of the trip because I know the salt in the air is going to kill my skin) but all the times for the pedi on that day are gone. Story of my life I guess. But on that note.....can you purchase your rainforest room passes online or do you have to wait until you are onboard and go by the spa then?

The 3 day pass you have to buy onboard at the spa. Beyond that, I don't know.

As promised, I went through the Roll Call List and gathered stats on the number of children under age 18 by gender. I've included a link to the most current numbers under the Interesting Stats in Post #1. :)

I remember reading it is a good idea to bring $1 bills for tips for room service, bags, etc. How many do you think we should bring?

Crissi

Hadley, I'm so glad you are all safe and sound!! I've also forgotten to congratulate you on job! :goodvibes It must be sooooo nice to have a job that you look forward to. :goodvibes (Brandie, thanks for the update on her, too!)

Amy, I'm so glad you posted your Mousekeeping envelopes because I just KNEW I had something missing from my to-do list! Very adorable! In case you don't see this until you return, I hope you had a fabulous time at the World!

Elliott's_mommy, don't fret yet. Once you get on-board, go to the spa and see if you can get the day/time you want. We'll be there to hopefully change the date/time of two of the three appointments we have made.

Denise, that's awesome for you to have all this time off this coming week. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Kimberly

Crissi: I am bring about $100 or so, if I dont use it on the cruise, we can use it for the F&W festival!

Well, DBK1029 and I are off to WDW tomorrow for a week and half! I'm sure I'll have A LOT to read when I get home! Take care everybody and talk to you all when we get back! :thumbsup2

Crissi

We usually brign about $20 in ones, $10 in twos (fun when a $2 tip is appropriate) for room service and about $50 in fives and tens for porters and taxis. We usually have extra to bring home but I would rather bring too much than too little.
