All right....my DH has a question and because I love him so, I am going to ask here on the boards for all my fellow DIS'ers who have been so wonderful with all their insight.....

Now, we've been to Palo before (several times actually) and we were wondering if anyone else 'tips' on the additional $15/pp? It is my understanding the reason there is a cost for Palo is to cover the tip for your servers since it is not automatically included in the rest of your 'tips' onboard. Normally, we tip an additional $10-20; but he seems to think this is unnecessary....thoughts?

:surfweb: Please let her know (in private of course since I know it's supposed to be a surprise for her DD) that I got the book she was wanting...I'ts packed and ready to go in my suitcase!

Maggie

Maggie - I don't know if Hadley is reading the boards but I know Eric is. He's been seeing alot of them. Unfortunately, he thinks we are way too chatty so he said to PM him with any important information. So, you might want to just shoot a quick PM to Eric so he can pass it on to Hadley.

Thanks a bunch! I'm letting him know right now! :hippie:

We normally tip an extra $20-30 on top of the fee for dinner. Our 2 servers last year were excellent. Sasha was at a brunch, he remembered us the entire cruise. and then Tony was our server at dinner. Again he was great too. ( being Italian and how he pronounced the dishes at Palo.:lovestruc ).

We are almost completely packed. dh is ready to bop me over the f/e gifts. and unfortunately some of them might have suffered a fatality. :( He just rented a bigger car for the return trip home. (since upgrades wont happen at the port.)

The good news, there's only one system left. The bad news, it could grow into a tropical depression today. Hurricane hunters are flying into the system, we should have a better idea by dinner. BUT... this system is heading northwest, it could impact the Carolinas next week. If you live in that area keep an eye on it. It should have no impact on our cruise, unless it's really slow to develop, we could see rough seas the first night.

Just did my checkin on SWA. It's staring to become real. One would think the pile of luggage was reality enough. We've spent weeks and months talking to each other, making each other laugh and listening to the different family stories. All of us REALLY need this vacation and deserve it! We fly out tomorrow morning. We'll be at WDW until Saturday. I will keep an eye on the weather updates and will post anything that could disrupt our trip. I have soo much to do today, as I'm sure the rest of you do to. Enjoy your day!

Thanks for the update.........but NOT what we want to hear! Do you think this will have any impact on our flights on Friday from Philadelphia to MCO??
That is what I am really afraid of..........once we are on the boat, I could care less what happens......float me around for 7 days, I'll be happy!

My husband is flying out of Iraq today to Kuwait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He just called!

Hurray! Sending more pixie dust your way that all the timing will be perfect :wizard:

This reminded me of a cute story from this week - my sister has two dogs. One is a black lab, Jasmine, and the other (about 2 years old) is a black lab rotty mix, Belle. (Can you tell she loves Disney???) Belle is about 100 lbs. Well, my neice brought down her new puppy which is a tiny 3 lb Pomeranian (SP?), Maggie, and introduced them. Now they are used to a small dog as my other sister owns a small dog, Zoey (can't remember the breed but she's about 7 lbs). Well Belle went to "sniff" Maggie who wasn't quite sure she liked that so she bounced up and nipped Belle on the nose. Well, that 100 lb dog is now afraid of the 3 lb dog and won't go near her!!!!!

Sounds like my house, my chihuahua doesn't have any second thoughts of leaping up to our big ones and giving them a quick nip to keep them in line! :lmao:

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! As long as we can get out of the Carolinas and down I-95 before there is trouble I'll be OK with that! I just want to get on the ship!!!

I was hoping someone would answer, too. We are planning to try to bring wine aboard. We'll see . . . :confused3

Don't forget to bring a cork screw (If you can?) There is a $15.00 uncorking fee if your server opens it.

I just checked the main board "The Magic" is heading home. Left Norfolk around 6:30 AM this morning.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Reading on the main board, the Magic left drydock overnight/early this morning. Come to me my little ship!!!

I have a Palo ressie for 2 Friday night at 6ish. Anyone intersted? I need to cancel it today. I'll wait and we can time it online.

You might hit some bumps in the air. There's a system off the eastcoast that should keep this thing south. Hopefully it starts to move. It's been sitting there for almost 2 or 3 days.

It isn't necessary, but we tip a little extra. It's kind of like tipping at the bars. Gratuity is already included, so you won't look like a cheapskate if you DON'T leave extra because.....well, it's already there! But DH is a tipper. We usually tip an extra $20 or so as well at Palo, seems to be the going rate. But the $15 is meant to cover that, from what I understand. I was actually involved in a heated debate over this about a year ago on the boards, some people got really mean about it! I think you just do what you feel comfortable with. If they go above and beyond, give them a little extra. That being said, we did NOT tip our brunch waiter any extra last time because he was terrible! We speculated that he was hung over, because he was that bad. :sad2:

A recon flight is on the way (or the way back) - the update from the flight is expected around 2pm. Some thinking I've read on the flhurricane site thinks it will go up the NE coast of the US - impacting more NC or VA, etc. Here is a model: http://moe.met.fsu.edu/mm5/INVEST93L.d1-merge.track2.png The numbers in the model are hours away - so IF that model came true (which is a super huge IF!!!) it would hit the coast on Friday. You really have to take that model with a grain of salt though - but whatever impact it has it would probably be towards the end of the week. Many models thing it might be a Cat 2 in 3-4 days.

There are some waves off Africa being watched but those would not impact until we are at sea - more like on our return to port.

Hopefully TPEVFOX will continue to have some more updates. It does bear watching....not only for those flying in Thurs-Sat but for those with homes that could feel some impact while they are away.

How does this work? Do you have to have a code? I paid with the Disney Visa, but I didn't get this. Maybe because I booked early. :confused3

We just had a Chik fil A open here a couple days ago. Are they really that good? What should I get? I always hear people back East talk about this place. Is it kinda like how Krispy Cremes are? People love them.. I thought they were okay.

Call and give code QXZ and ask if reservation can be adjusted.
Keep in mind it is a minimum 3 night stay and you have to buy at least a 1 park 1 day ticket for everyone in the group.

WOW, I was hoping for at least one response:flower3:

Anyone????:hourglass

.

OK Beer. The domestics they carry are bud, bud lite, miller lite, coors lite.
There is no algorithm behind which bar will have what.

I have also seen (drank) michelob ultra.

The premium beers I have seen are Corona, Heineken and Amstel lite
Keep in mind if you order a bottled beer they will pour it for you in a plastic cup if you are on deck.
If you order the room service beers you should order 5 and you get one free. They come in cans. So always order 6. This can be done in the restaurants as well. (Same goes for soda but ordeing can soda in restaurant is not the best move as the draft soda is free)

In diversions they actually have Guiness on tap.
Also in the lounges you will find some more premium beers but they seem to change.

The current stated policy is any liquids alcohol or non have to be carried on board and must fit thru the security x ray machine.

I recommend bringing cans as not to mess with breakage and also as a safety precaution on deck.
Ask your room steward for the large container of ice and he/she will produce a wok size clear container filled with ice with a lid. Simply place your beer in this and take as needed)

Great news. Fortunate he's flying from Kuwait. Dh will have to fly through the 'stans when he comes home, most likely.

Elliott's mommy- nothing like a doctor who doesn't listen, is there? I've been telling the urologist the entire time something was wrong, and here we find out the kid is resistant to the antibiotics they gave him, and he's been running a slight fever (spiking into the 103 range Friday) for three weeks now. Glad we're all out of the hospital and let's keep it that way.

Julie

Yeah I agree.....just once I would like for a doctor to say "you know..your the mom....you are with them more than I am....so you tell me what is going on and we'll figure out how to fix it.." JUST ONCE I want that to happen.

Anyway. I was on a roll packing when my boss called. How many days until vacation? She's really nice but she's also really new and we have a new system so I'm spending a great deal of time explaining things to her and verifying and reverifying informaiton. This is going to be a LLLLOOONNNGGGG week I can already tell.

Hopefully you wont have any problems out of Philly, every time Dh flies out of there he is delayed. :confused3 ( he goes weekly for business)

My DH would like me to ask if anyone is going to be watching the baseball playoffs and/or football. He would also like to know if there are any Giants and/or Mets fans out there. (Val and Gang, I know your answer already! :) )

How do I flip the logo for the shirts I am making? Can I do it with Word or do I have to have a program? If I can't do it on word is there anybody that might be able to send me an attachment with it flipped? Thank you! My email is

I know there are a bunch of football fans on this trip. ( Packers, Eagles). look for the huge group at CC.

Our football game isnt on until Monday night. :) It will be dh at Diversions, I will be at the Golden Mickeys after party. ;) this was our favorite party last year. ( dd had a dance named after her for the night).

It's my first time . . . What age group is Golden Mickeys geared toward? My DDs are 12.

The GMs party was for families. ( our daughter was 9 last year, 10 this year, so your girls would be the perfect age.) It is just a dance type party. At one point the cruise staff will ask someone to make up a dance move. Gabby did a spin, so then they asked about 5 more kids for a dance move, then they combined them all. It was really cute. My dd loved it, since they kept saying "Do the Gabby".
