OK...for the question of the week...

DBF (and these are his exact words) - My favorite Disney memory would be being there with you for our first time together. It was very special.

Me - I have to say the same. It was so magical and wonderful being there with him - I had never been there at Christmas time and just experiencing WDW with somebody I love, it was perfect. We met on a Disney dating site and then started talking through PM on the Dis almost 2 years ago. He truly is my Disney Prince!

I have many Disney memories - the first time I attended a taping for MMC in 1992, dancing at WDW with my dance company and of course my college program. Those are some of the reasons why Disney is so important to me. :)

On a TOTALLY different topic, my hometown, Allentown, PA was the pick city of the day on the TODAY Show this morning! I was brushing my teeth and heard Al Roker say "Allentown, PA" and I ran into the family room to see the picture!

Have a good night everyone! :)

You mean all those times (and $$$'s) I took him to WDW and his favorite memory is from last year????? :rotfl: Somehow that seems just a little unfair!!:rotfl2:

I personally have so many memories but two stand out - (1) the first time I took both boys at the same time (the oldest being 9-1/2 and the youngest 3-1/2), they were both awed by the experience and I totally enjoyed every moment through their eyes! (2) On a trip with my sister (includes my youngest DS, DM, DS, DBIL and DN); we had a late dinner at what was then King Stefan's (now Cinderella's Royal Table). We had the "food and fun" card so with all that food to eat, we took our time eating. We were the last group to leave the restaurant and when we came out through the castle we were able to experience a fully lit, totally empty main street!!! A sight I will always remember:cloud9: .

Thanks for the info, Cyndifan!

All this talk of Palo's has me starving.

I'm off to get some sushi.

Speaking of sushi - any good sushi aboard?

Here is another vote FOR palo

We book a dinner every single cruise and Love it.. We had 8 people for dinner once and they not only brought us at least 1 of everything to sample... We were there for 4 hours!!! They needed to roll us out by the time they were done stuffing us..

Now I know what a Turkey on Thanksgiving feels like.. :faint:

I know there is a Chinese type of buffet one day on board. they had sushi last time. I think it was one of the days we were in port.

I'm certainly hoping what the reservationist told me was correct - its what I'm using as a basis for making ressies. :thumbsup2

Oooohhhh.......sushi sounds really good. Addition to FinallyBought's question: if there is good sushi on the ship will they make it to order? There are certain types I love but only if fixed w/o certain stuff. Our local sushi place should know as soon as I walk in the door what to start fixing for me - I always stick w/the same thing. ::yes::

I am pretty sure they do not take orders for sushi. they make a certain number of ones. ( it was decent, but it isnt as good as our local sushi place).

I think it was a lot of the basics.
California roll, shrimp, some kind of tuna.

I'm am overwhelmed with all the time many of you have already put in answering my inquiry about Palo. Thank you! I'm taking it all in, I assure you!

Cyndifan, thanks for all those updates on Costa Maya and the dining attire rotation! I added them to Post #6 for everyone's quick reference. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: :rotfl2: That comeback totally cracked me up! "Somehow", I bet you couldn't be more thrilled your DS said such a wonderful thing! :goodvibes Amy, you've got yourself a big catch there, missy!

I can imagine seeing an empty Main Street at night would be beautiful!

I know he has many wonderful memories for previous trips to Disney too! We were talking about him para sailing last night. :)

Ok...I know you guys are going to think I'm crazy but having spent the last 18 months either working full time, studying full time, or taking care of a soon to be 4 year old (not necessarily in that order) I haven't had a great deal of time to actually sit and knit or crochet. I want to make christmas presents for my nices and nephews...is there a nice place on the ship with a view and a comfy chair? Thisi s my idea of true relaxation and would like to bring a project of some sort along (besides when we told my brother that we were going he laughed because he insisted I wouldn't be able to bring my knitting with me...I want a photo just to show him :rolleyes1 )

Okay...speaking of "spectacular Palo", I'm probably going to :stir: here and sound anti-Palo, but that's not really my intention. :)

Regarding Palo dinner....is it REALLY as big of a deal that everyone makes it out to be??? I seriously think I will be very disappointed because of all the hype that 98% of the people on the DISboards make of this experience.

Honestly, I've looked at the menu, and don't find it to be that extraordinary or of a "4 star" restaurant quality as I've read in some reviews. Of course these are words on paper, not food on my palette!! I expect the service to be of near equal quality as what I will get in the dining room, although obviously you can get more personal time with your servers. The dining room itself doesn't look like something I just can't miss either. :duck: On the surface, it seems to be similar to many restaurants I could go to in Columbus. Don't get me wrong. It's not like I go to high end restaurants often, and I'm a restaurant snob as I may be coming off to be, but on the surface, I just don't seem to understand what the big deal is. (I know, I know....don't knock it until you try it!!)

So..........is what makes Palo dinner special to you that it is for adults only and/or a romantic dinner or something else? I'm trying to understand what is the real appeal to most, because frankly, I'm not at all eager to get dinner reservations. Brunch, yes, because of the food offerings, but I'm not excited and think I'll be disappointed with dinner. On the other hand, my mom desperately wants to got to dinner there. I would love to hear your perspective. Basically, I just want to make sure I have reasonable expectations if we indeed are able to get reservations for dinner.

Palo is excellent. I love their risotto, Lionel ADORES the filet, and the desserts are to die for. That being said, I am sure a lot of what makes it so wonderful is the ambiance, the private tables and the view.

If you aren't sure about dinner, definitely go to brunch. Brunch is amazing. I almost like it better than dinner.

I loved the high tea. I'm a tea snob too and the loose blends they had were quite lovely. We only went last year so maybe they are using better stuff than they used to? Anyhow, the treats they serve with the tea are wonderful. Except the trifle. I hated the trifle. It was multicolored. It tasted blue. :faint:

We loved Deck 4. It was so quiet. Ahhhhhh.

I'm THERE! Ya'll just point DH in this direction if you find a very large, very lost cajun wandering the ship. :-)

Ok, so we went in May of this year and DCL was using 2 different sets of teas. One type in the dining room and Palo, and another type at Deck 9. The loose tea is actually the same stuff as in the tea bags in the dining rooms (I looked at the containers at the Palo Brunch), but different from the stuff at the serve yourself place on Deck 9. The lemon verbena offered at Palo was weak, and they didn't have a darjeeling or mint on the menu there. Topsiders/BBB (can't keep them straight which one's where) had both brands of tea available at the end of the buffet.

We need to do a tea sampling together. :rotfl:

Pack your knitting needles in your suitcase, not in your carry on. I know they've relaxed this rule in some airports, but you don't want to take a chance!!

I have circulars with aluminum tips...recently I knitted to a conferences in PA, KS, and TX. I should be ok but I might bring something crochet just to be on the safest side.

Hi all. I know this has probably been answered but: With the Secret Mickey, are we buying a gift for an individual or a cabin?

By the way, I just received the ADORABLE F/E gifts that I ordered for some of the younger girls on the cruise! (For those of you who haven't read my Pre TR, I have a little bit of an obsession with Disneyshopping.com :rolleyes1 )
I am so excited to put all the gifts together. :)

I think we're buying per cabin...at least that's how Jason and I signed up.
