Here's what I see:

 The server closed the connection while reading the response. Contact your system administrator. 

Its probably a server on my end.  I'll try again later from our home laptop rather than the one from work.

firewall = yes. However, I'm able to access this forum (& others) just fine from my work laptop.

Stephen Curtis has touched many many people with his music through the years. He & his family are huge avocates for adoption. As we have a 5 yr old adopted from China, this hits us especially hard. I just can't imagine losing a child....
I'm going to hug Emmie especially hard today.

Thank you for this. I caught the last 10 seconds on the news and they never said the name, just the tragedy. Everyone should hug their children!!! Very sad story.

I have something else to say - sorry for the double post. Maybe Hadley and Eric can back me up - but the Secret Mickey was very easy on our last cruise. Each family got a name of another family with cabin number and a list of what they like to do on and off the ship. We then picked the day we wanted to give the gift, preferably in the beginning of the cruise so they can enjoy it if it were decks of cards, Disney memorabilia, etc. I think the more options we give, the tougher the coordination. I don't think it should be difficult. We received our gift on Sunday night of the cruise and it was a board game. Our family loved it and we had all week to play on deck. Does that help or just cause more confusion. We basically did it for the family in the cabin. The FE was more candy and fun little stuff. I hope this helps!!!

I think that sounds good, too, Sandi. I know Drea will appreciate any words of experience!

Some, including myself, have been making purchases for the FE's for 6 months or more. This is the reason that the idea came out to allow people to choose if they want to do a Secret Mickey exchange or the traditional random drop-offs.

We are ALL in agreement that this should not be a stressful event once we're on the cruise!! You ARE on vacation afterall. We'll get it all worked out!


On another topic.....I don't tend to stir up controversy, but today may be an exception.

It seems that I will not be of a popular voice, but I do think that we should take advantage of the website. I agree that if something of signficance needs reviewed to have it baited here, but I do have a different opinion about having the same information in two places. IMO, there should be one single source. The forums are also great for those who have a particular interest so the responses are all consolidated and others who the topic doesn't apply to can avoid (like Fish Extenders/Secret Mickey). Simply my view.

My final unsolicited comment is to remember that Brandie (Fizzgig) and Jeremy (DH) have paid for the domain to have this site up for us to use and have spent a lot of time administering it.

I do want to point out not everyone using the other website is coming from DISBoards. In addition, not all information should be out in the open, like DISBoards is.

I see this thread as being a loooooooong conversation, and the other website as being the quick reference guide for people to pop in and out of. We currently have 95 users at DDD, and I think if we all tried to talk at once on this thread, we'd lose our minds.

I also feel that the FE/Secret Mickeys/ etc. should be keep to one source - the DoubleDip Site. It will make it much easier for participants.

IMHO this board should be for general chats and information and the other site for specifics.
