I thought we were in port at Cozumel until 10:30pm. I know I saw that posted on one of the websites..........

Crissi

The 6 PM sound more like what we did last year when we were there. I know from time to time DCL will stay later to give the crew some time ashore but I would not count on it. Lois

:rotfl: It was Hawaiian Shirt Friday?! Darn!

Congrats on your promotion! :goodvibes Well it would be great to meet a DISer before we cruise, so I'll do my best to stop by this week. It likely won't be until Wed, or I'll stop by on my way to the airport Thursday morning. Would that work?

I asked Mike to tell him that Kimberly stopped by to see you. He said "Okay". Then added "Kimberly from the cruise." Then he smiled and said a more emphatic "OHHH...Okay!" He did say that you had to go to another location but you were expected back around 11:00. I had to go home for lunch yesterday, so I looked to see if your Disney plates were in the parking lot, but I didn't see them, so Ididn't stop again.

Thursday works for me! Where are you flying to?

dan

Does anyone know what the menu rotation will be for the cruise?

I don't have a clue. I remember reading somewhere on DIS that they had even changed the basic rotation of the resturants which will of course change the rotation of the menus, It was LPA/LPA/L Now it is more like APP/LAP/L So that the resturant you visit 3 times is doubled up earlier in the cruise but we do not know if this is just for the west coast cruises or if it will continue once the ship returns to the east coast. I think it is a change to allow for Pirate night fireworks to be on a night futher out at sea. It that is the case then we will have standard rotation.

Anyone else want to make a guess or have inside information they can pass along? It might be a question best posted on the main forum so a west coast cruiser can ask for us when they are on board. Lois

Hey everyone....

Did you all see the ironic timing of our cruise and Disney's announcement yesterday about shutting down Pleasure Island? Apparently Pleasure Island is closing permanently on Sept. 27th.....and over the next year or two all those buildings will be re-opened as different kinds of businesses like shores and restaurants, etc....bu tnot the kind of nightclub scene it is now. All the clubs, including the Comedy Club and Adventurer's Club, are on the chopping block.

Honestly this doesn't impact Jason and I very much because we never really go to PI anyway (we don't drink and we're not really club people)....but I do know several of our close friends LOVE P.I. (Hadley's family loves the Comedy club...and Chris and Rob love 8Traxx, Mannequin's and the Adventurer's Club).....so I feel bad because I know they'll miss their favorite haunts.

Maybe this trip Jason and I will actually go down to the Adventurer's Club (we've always said we were going to go but then get distracted by all the fun in DisneyQuest!!! :lmao: ).

So moral of hte story...if you love P.I. fun----make sure you're coming to WDW a night or two early before we get on the ship because once we get back P.I. will be history.:worried:

Yeah we just got early seating. We had been wait listed but I just got a confrimation they switched it.

We need transfers from the airport to the Cape on Friday. Does anyone have any recomindations. We are a party of 6 so its cheaper to do it this way without a rental car. Trust me my FIL is a luggage enthusiast.

Oh My Gosh I had NOT read about this. We took the kids to PI for the first time on our last trip and they (and we) LOVE the Comedy Wharehouse and the Adventurers Club. I think we will have to stay much later than we origianlly planned on our night there this trip knowing it will be out last:(

Good luck to all of you Castaway Club Members tonight!

Congrats!!

Thursday works for me! Where are you flying to?

dan

Okay...Let's plan on Thursday then! I'll be there around 9:00 am.

Where am I flying to? Hmmm...believe it or not, that's a complex question! I am flying from Columbus to Philadelphia. However, I don't now if that's my last flight! My DBF is temporarily working in Newark, DE (4 more months remaining), so he's going to pick me up there. However, he's making the rest of the week/weekend a surprise! :goodvibes

We had talked about going to several places like Portland, D.C. (mainly for the fireworks), and even Niagra Falls. Then one day he says "I have a surprise for you! I've been researching destinations, and I have decided on where we are going but don't ask questions." :faint: <---- (That's me in SHOCK that he's doing this!) All I know is that I'll arrive Thursday, we won't leave for our destination until Friday evening, we'll be at our destination all day Saturday, we'll be back (which I think means his sisters in MD because that's where he's staying) on Sunday, then fly back to Columbus on Monday.

Why I'm not sure if this is the only place I'm flying to is that he mentioned he has "tickets". However, I have no idea if those are plane tickets or tickets to an event. :confused3 So I'll have to report back to all of you about my "surprise". :) He's added the disclaimer that I shouldn't have high expections, which I quickly replied "Oh you've already exceeded them!" :rotfl2:

So really, truly, it doesn't matter where we go because him taking on this initiative is HUGE, especially because he states I'm awesome at planning all the right things when we go on vacation, and he speaks to it often. As all you other OCP, giving up control of even a mini-vacation is tough territory to look at from a distance with your hands tied. So all I've asked is for a dress attire packing list....aren't you proud fellow OC Planners????! Although.....I might cave in and ask for him to tell me the weather forecast for our destination too. ;)

We'll, I'm working on magnets for the stateroom door this morning, so I need to get back to that. If you haven't counted the number of weekends remaining before we leave and you need your weekends to get extracurricular things done, make sure you're sitting down before grabbing the calendar.

We are a party of 11 with 11 Bags and also need a way to get from Orlando area to the Ship on Saturday.. Renting a Van or 2 will run us around $120 each van :faint:

Does anyone who is driving feel like it might be a good idea to have alternative parking plans in light of hurricane season?

We plan to drive to the port and park there, but if a hurricane is coming, maybe that is not such a good idea. I know we will be forewarned about one coming, but if we don't have an alternatve plan, I hate the thought of leaving my car in the port parking lot.

Time to get out the dog-eared "spreadsheet"!

Ive done a lot of research on this, though as with anything DCL it is subject to change. The Golden Mickey's menu replaced the Master Chef...think this is permanent. In order to facilitate the GM menu going with the GM show on the 3rd night, they had to change the rotation. So I would say the new rotations will likely stay, unless they plan on going back to the Master Chef, which I don't see them doing.

I am making my plans based on the new rotations.

HTH

Yes, this would interfere with Pirate Night as I mentioned way back somewhere in the thread. Can't have fireworks when we're still docked. I think what Kimberly posted is likely going to be correct....6:30. Again, I am making my plans based on that.

Wow that certainly sounds fun!
I am sure it will be a great time regardless to where you end up.

See ya soon

My oldest dd keeps telling me we should rent a van and not use a service. We're starting at Disney, and ending at Disney. Maybe I should look into this. The cheapest service I'm seeing is 260 or so round trip. Some include car seats. I hate driving, but will consider it if it looks like it will save time and money.

Julie

Thank you!! :)

I'm going to book the Atlantis Submarine, hopefully for the morning, then have the afternoon to either beach or walk around and shop.

It's kind of a pricey excursion, so I didn't want to be stuck with it if my dh and dd decide they don't want to do it.

Now, on to Cozumel...Tulum ruins anyone? Yay or nay?

Have I told you all how awesome you all are!?!

Stella <--- who should be fined for excessive use of exclamation points today!!!!!

Mozart posted a few pics of Tulum on my TR and it looks AMAZING. Sadly, I can't handle 2 hours each was on a bus.....

Good luck to all of you Castaway Club Members tonight!

Congrats!!

How exciting!!! Enjoy your little surprise getaway!

I am home from work and posting from Starbucks. Yep. I'm a yuppie.

I am really sad about Adventurer's club, I got to go in May 2006 but Dh never got to experience it, HIGHELY recommend doing it Erik, its a GREAT time!

We are renting a car sat morning to drive to the port, that way we can pick up some alcohol or other things we need.

Happy Saturday and good luck getting your ressies tonight, dont forget to save some for us newbies:goodvibes

Kimberly: Have fun on your surprise trip! Niagara Falls is AWESOME, Williamsburg Va is also very nice, as is Baltimore MD and the Washington DC area, cant wait to hear how you like our neck of the wooods!

I loved Tulum but please remember it is a very long day. It is also without shade and this time of year will be very very hot. If you are prepared for those items it is one of the best excrusion I have been on. I was hoping to do a Maya Ruin in Costa Maya and Cuzumel so now I can only do one on our second stop in Cozumel as we are booked for the Royal Dolphin Swim the first stop. Lois

I feel like a Disney Dummy today.

Well, dh and I settled on the Jeep Exploration tour for Cozumel and the Atlantis Submarine for GC. We have a question - Dan and I are both really weird about other people driving us (it's our only quirk, really). IOW, we don't want to share our Jeep with another driver and aren't crazy about someone driving, especially with our dd in the Jeep (I know probably sounds weird to some, but really, again, our only quirk ;) ). Can we pay for the extra spot - or do they leave parties of 3 alone in a Jeep? Does anyone know? Has anyone done this excursion - I've googled and searched and the only review is from the guy who writes the Passporter, good review, btw.

And - now on to our Palo ressie. I am lamebrained on this rotation thing... can someone explain it to me slowly...I don't want to miss semi-formal night - could miss formal night (not a biggie to us) and definitely don't want to miss Pirate night. What does that leave me? I don't really care where we are on any other night. In fact, if anyone could simply tell me what would be good days to do our Palo - that would really be helpful.

Thanks so much. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I can try to help you with some of your questions, Stella.

Below is the plan (as we know it) as to how everyone on the ship will dress each night.

Casual Nights: 1 (Saturday), 2 (Sunday), 4 (Tuesday), 7 (Friday)
Formal Night: 3 (Monday)
Semi-formal Night: 6 (Thursday)
Pirate Night: 5 (Wednesday)

So if you want to be in the dining room with your DD on Pirate Night and Semi-Formal Night, then you'll want to avoid booking Palo on Wednesday and Thursday. Does that clear that part up for you?

Yes, very much. When do we find out which restaurant we're in on which night? I wouldn't mind skipping Parrot Cay, and would probably like to do Palo that night - is there any way to know early or do I just wing it?

You are always so incredibly helpful. I can't even begin to thank you. I feel like I'm doing 6 months of planning in 3 days. I have googled and researched like a maniac, and the best advice seems to always come from here. Thanks so much!!

People have said sometimes you can tell rotation by whose in your party. I don't know how true it is. I've read the idea that if you're mostly adults it's LAPLAPL, and if you have younger kids it's APLAPLA. Again, don't know if it's accurate, but we've always cruised as a multi-generational group: grandparents, dh, myself, and kids with more than 4 years between them. Three cruises, three times the same rotation: PLAPLAP. So you can guess, but basically you're just winging it.

I don't think it would be impossible to switch Palo reservations for dinner once you're on board, if you have to. We never had to. And officially, you find out when you get your key to the world card at check in. The rotation is in one of the lower corners of the card. Or it was the last time we cruised.

Julie

I spoke w/DCL about dining rotations & here's what they said:

5:30 LAALAP
5:45 APPLAPL
6:00 PLLAPLA

They were basing this on the Western Itinerary & couldn't say for sure if it would be the same for the Alternate Western.

I think the late seatings would follow the same pattern for 8:00, 8:15 & 8:30.
