Today, June 21, is a very special day for our family. On this date 4 years ago we had the privledge of holding our daughter, Emmie, in our arms for the very 1st time. Its a day we affectionately refer to as 'Gotcha Day'. I can't believe she's been home for 4 years now - how the time flies.

:cool1: Happy Gotcha Day:cool1:

We were eventually able to coax her into eating a few cheerios, but she certainly didn't want to smile or to give up the things she had clutched in her little hands - such a serious little face. As the days passed we got to know each other & have grown into the family we are now. Today, she's a normal 5 year old little southern girl that just happens to be adopted from China. We're so grateful to have the privledge of being her parents.

Here's a pic of me & Emmie on Gotcha day after things calmed down a little. (sorry its so huge - I couldn't figure out how to do a small pic)

Happy Gotcha Day!!! We'll celebrate the fourth anniversary of my niece's Gotcha Day at the end of this year. How time flies, indeed. :goodvibes

As I was making note of these in the database, I thought I would throw this out to the following people who are on the sign-up lists. I noticed that you have others traveling with you, so I just want to make sure you haven't overlooked signing them up as well if they want to be a part of the fun, too. I would hate for them to be left out!!!

LuvtheEars (DH's Friend)
MagicMe (DS #2 & DGF)
pfishgirl (3 other cabins with friends and family)
Scrappingjen (DFIL & DMIL)

Sorry - should have mentioned that I had to cancel my third cabin (DS #2 and DGF). Turns out she wasn't his DGF:lmao: Honestly, it was a bit sad for a while (they were together 7 years) but he has moved on and actually seems happier now. He didn't want to do the cruise just by himself so we canceled his cabin.

So - it's me and my Mom and my oldest son and his DGF (you all know her as Amy - TheDisneyGirl02)!!!! No worries about that relationship!!!

cyndifan - Happy Gotcha Day! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story with all of us!

The recital went very well tonight. My twin's pants did not fall! :yay: It was a wonderful night. We also presented my dance teacher with the gift from all of the students. It was very special since it was our 25th year. Our dance went well so I was really excited!

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening! :)

Hi MagicMe!

Cyndifan -Your story made my eyes well up with joy for you and your daughter on "gotcha day". The picture truely captured a bittersweet moment. It must seem like yesterday. I can't wait to meet you all.

Kimberly - I ordered the waterproof camera bag last night too. Let us all know the results tomorrow!
I really hope it works so we can get some great pictures at the Dolphin Encounter!

Hi DisneyGirl02!!!! Glad everything went well and that you were able to enjoy the evening without incident!:cool1:

BTW - you earned your right to sleep in!!!!

I'm sleeping very late...I'm having a hard time keeping my eyes open right now! :)

Well, I don't know if I should laugh ("wasn't his DGF") or feel bad! I'm sorry he won't be joining you guys though.

Amy, sounds like you enjoyed the night. Glad you had a great time performing!

I finally recieved one of my planning kits!!! However it is for the 10/4/08. I still have not seen the double dip one. Given the current changes I don't expect there to be any difference in the kits but really want to see what they send me if I ever get it.

I don't think it really matters as I have booked both my excrusion independently. The only think I will book NEXT WEEKEND are Palo and floats for our time at Castaway. Happy weekend everyone.

One day closer and still counting!!!!

OK...I'm guilty...it was me who brought up the edible undies. Apparently, I don't have that mental filter that others on here might have & I just laid it all out there! :) No, I am NOT hauling 30 packages of edible undies on board. I'm sure the luggage check would be interesting with THAT.

Cyndifan: Loved your Gotcha Day story. I have been reading lots of adoption blogs lately & your story was so beautiful! What a blessing...

Now, onto really trying to figure out what to put in my FE gifts!!

What to do what to do. I am not that excited about any of Disneys choices but I am at a loss of what to do.The only thing I have come up with is the Dolphin but I don't know if the park can fit us in or if my DH wants to do that. I will book it seprate to save $$$ and get DS in free

Does anyone have any great ideas for me. We are travelling with our kids 6 and 4 then my N laws (in thier 70 s)and my MIL is not in great physical shape so nothing to physical no hiking the mayan ruins for her. A nice stroll is fine.

If we don't do a excursion what is there to do? I feel so far behind most of you who have everything booked already

Amy: congrats on a great recital:thumbsup2 glad your twins pants didnt fall down:goodvibes

Jen: We are doing the dolphin encounter but before we decided to do that we were going to go to Paradise Beach http://www.paradise-beach-cozumel.com/food_bar.php! If you go on cruisecritic.com, there is a Cozumel link which has a Pardise Beach thread where the owner Tom answers questions. The place looks GREAT! Just an idea! My kids are 9 & 6 and we thought it would be Great for them! Let us know what you decide!

Jen, I'm sure you saw that I responded to your Dolphin Discovery post on our website. I'll just add that I'll have my grandmother with us, who is 76. So I can empathize with your concern.

If your DH doesn't want to go in with the dolphins, since the location is in the Chankanaab National Park (admission to park is included in your Dolphin Discovery admission), you could pay for his admission into the Park and as he's waiting for all of you to finish your exerperience, he could take a nap on the beach. :confused3 I'm sure you would rather do something that everyone could do, but if it comes down to that, he still could explore the Chankanaab Park with all of you and even go snorkeling.

Those shirts are too cute, btw!

"Think Pink Dress" Warning:

All this talk about the Tortuga rum cakes has me too anxious (plus I don't really need to weigh down my luggage with a lot of rum cake weight and space...this might restrain me to buying just one in GC! ). So guess what I purchased for us? ::yes::

www.coffeeforless.com

Description
Tortuga Rum Cake Pineapple 16oz: $15.50
Tortuga Rum Cake Original 16oz: $15.50

Shipping: $5.95 (shipping is free for orders of $50 or more)
Coupon Code: SUMMERTEA (-$3.10) (this 10% off coupon code is good until 6.30.08)

THEN....if you access the CoffeeForLess website through MrRebates, you'll get a 7% rebate on top of that.

OH! When I was searching for a source for the rum cakes, I ran across this Tortuga YouTube video. It made me think of our little DIS family here. :rolleyes1

cyndifan:

We did a journal/blog for Alex's adoption at journeytome.com username is zhijie, password is minty. I meant to take off the password protection when we got home, but never got around to it.

Here is another email to confirm Grand Cayman. When I went to look into reservations it still said Costa Maya on one page I saw so I emailed. I figured it was still Grand Cayman. I just wanted to make sure.

We truly regret the disappointments you have expressed with the
itinerary of your upcoming voyage. It is our goal to offer a cruise
experience that meets the Disney standards of excellence and provides
the type of magical vacation our guests have come to expect.

As you may be aware Hurricane Dean passed directly over the Yucatan
Peninsula and Costa May last year. Therefore, in an effort to provide
comfortable shore excursion experiences for you and your family the
itinerary has been modified to include Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman has
always been a popular port with our guests and it fits nicely with the
itinerary.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you! Have a Magical Day!

I e-mailed with a concern that it (the web site) still list Costa Maya on the web page and you can still book our cruise with no information about the change. Just does not live up to what I would expect of Disney. I would be very upset if I booked this cruise now expecting Costa Maya only to find out it was changed days or weeks before I booked.
Hopefully they will update the web site so that it correctly reflects what is being offered. Thank you for posting your reply. Lois
