I'm thinking Cruise Critic has bad info. Notice the word is "scheduled" though. Nice out for Cruise Critic.

ETA: Remember, this was the same people who stated that Costa Maya was going to be FINE by the time we went back, and quoted unnamed officials??? Yeah... about that....

Seriously...I don't check in for a bit and it's pages and pages of Thong Talk With The Double Dippers. You guys are WAYYYYY too funny :) Extra credit for posting the actual picture of a Double Dip Thong! Hubby said he wasn't fond of the thong for himself, but thanks anyway:lmao:

And the undies in the FEs? I would die if I found those in ours! You guys are seriously too funny...

Regarding tipping room service...we tip $1 if it's a small order, $2 if it's a meal order. We keep an envelope with $1 bills in the drawer of the dresser thing by the closet & it's handy that way.

I've booked my excursions for Grand Cayman, so I'm thinking Cruise Critic is just off again.

That's exactly what I was going to post! Yes, the envelope full of ones for room sevice tips is an essential packing item. I figure a dollar is plenty to grab a Micky Bar from the freezer and run it to Rio (our main room service order).

Brandie: Jeremy cracks me up some times. And I haven't even met him yet:)

Kimberly: Erik and Jason's house does resemble Ikea only nicer. It is amazing whatthey have desogned and made. My favourite is the very cool lights made from panels they ordered from Germany. If I had lots of $$ I would hire them to come decorate my house::yes:: I bet they would do it in exchange for a cruise. . .

As far as WHERE we go--so long as I am getting there on the Magic I am good;)

Underwear: Yeah, well I think I will just NOT comment:lmao:

That thong from Cafe Press are just WRONG... there is no way I want "Double Dip" written anywhere on my undies!!! :rotfl2:

I wrote to the Cruise Critic website about the Costa Maya story they are running (that the Disney Magic is the first to come back on 9/30) and the assistant editor who wrote the story wrote back to me right away with this:

Hi Carol. We have been told by a Costa Maya port spokesperson that the
schedule released to us is current and accurate as of yesterday. The
information they released also specifically identified that Sept. 30 Disney
Magic call as the first following the port's reopening. It's possible that
there is some miscommunication between Disney and Costa Maya officials.
We're checking with the Costa Maya folks and with Disney to get
clarification. Thanks for the info. We'll update the story with any
additional information we receive.

Sincerely,
Michael Potter

I thought it was nice that he got back to me right away - so I guess keep your eyes on the Cruise Critic site to see if he gets more info for Disney.

.....or my 2nd thought about the Costa Maya story on Cruise Critic is that we really ARE going back there now cause Disney officials saw the recent turn in our cruise meet thread about the underwear. The pier isn't built yet but they're going to stop there any make all the thong wearers walk the plank.....:duck:

I think it's the same situation as the previous story Cruise Critic ran saying we were going to CM... Unnamed Costa Maya official saying everything's cool on their end.

I just really feel for the folks at Costa Maya, I know they are counting on the ships return. Really wish we could be one of the first. Lois

Hi everyone
We are back from the beach, it was nice, DS had a good bday

It seems I missed a lot, the underwear :scared1: ALL I CARE TO SAY IS YOU DONT WANT ME WEARING THOSE THONGS:rotfl:

Man, this whole CM/Cayman Islands stuff is bugging me, I want to know where we are going! I think I am in the minority but I really want Cayman :rolleyes1

and our whole family was so exicted to announce that we are OFFICIALLY in Double Digits

99 UNTIL WE CRUISE

We were singing our own "99 days until we cruise" song today also:goodvibes :thumbsup2

Man... I hope it's Grand Caymen... I wasn't all that impressed with Costa Maya.

Yep - maybe the Unnamed Costa Maya official hasn't told his boss yet... that DCL said "Lo siento mucho...":(

You'd think that the Costa Maya people would want Cruise Critic to run a story about the real first ship coming back to their port (whichever that is) - rather than them having to retract the story because the port is still not ready, etc. That way the story would still be a positive.

The Editor of Cruise Critic also posted over on their boards about their CM story in response to something I wrote over there - where I'm selketine:

We are seriously perplexed. Michael Potter, who wrote the story, is trying to figure out what's what. He had it confirmed from Costa Maya's p.r. firm (RBB Public Relations in Miami) that Disney is the first to go. I'd have just thought, from Selketine's email to us (thanks for the heads up!) that perhaps Disney just hadn't gotten around to re-calling everybody.

And that may true.

But when we heard that two other ships that RBB told us would be calling at Costa Maya this fall -- Royal Caribbean's Splendour of the Seas and Grandeur of the Seas (another reader email, thanks Brad) -- aren't calling there either we got worried. Royal Caribbean confirmed that for us (the info was so far off that it's scary, like Splendour of the Seas isn't even in the region at that time!) and we've edited the item appropriately.

This is really bizarre.

We have calls in to Costa Maya's marketing chief, to Disney, etc. Michael already heard back from the PR firm, which swears it's info is right but clearly...it's already not right as it relates to those Royal Carib ships. Stay tuned as we'll update the info (even this weekend) when we hear something.

And by all means if you hear anything interesting or find something else that's wrong with this thing -- drop me a note (editor@cruisecritic.com); I'm on news duty this weekend so will be checking email.

Thanks, all.

I am Crazy4Disney on Cruiscritic... I wrote that orginal post, I had been keeping tabs on CM thur that site and since everyone was always asking when it would be ready, I thought I would give the info I had heard. It will be interesting to see how this pans out. We didnt get a call from disney, we got our email thru Dreamsunlimited, and now that its the weekend, I am thinking we wont know anything until next week. :worried:

Cuz unknowns are just so damn -- er darn -- fun... ugh.

I thought I heard about when the ship was in port you could get spa discounts? Do you know if that is true and if so, is the couple's massage included? Does anyone know what the price difference is?

I have never been notified by Disney about any changes. I've never received anything except my confirmation from DVC that we're booked.

I think it's pretty cool that we're now becoming a hot news item. It would be nice to definitely know where we are really going. But, one thing I know for sure...we all better look damn good in those thongs when the Travel Channel comes a-calling for their Costa Maya update. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
