I love Krispy Kream donuts too...

I grew up in Round Rock, TX and there is a shop, RR Donuts, that uses cornmeal as part of the donut (and it makes for a yellow, airy donut instead of a white thicker donut). It's like eating a donut made out of cotton candy...they just melt in your mouth.

So if you're ever passing through Austin, you simply must make the short trek up to Round Rock and check out their donuts...right off the highway...you shouldn't miss it.

Now, shame on all this donut talk. I want something sweet :badpc:

oK..Must say my grandparents in are Cameron which means we pass through Round Rock every time we visit them and we have never stopped for doughnuts either...hummmm must put that on the plan for our next trip....of course by the time we make it to Round Rock its more like "we are NOT stopped until we get there":moped:

Hi all... I am a total newbie. I've lurked some on the Dis boards in the past, but that's about it. I will be on the 9/27 DD as a surprise trip for the kids - assuming I can keep it a secret that long, which I probably cannot. This will be our 2nd dis cruise. Anyone have suggestions on how my kids can online "meet" kids their age without spoiling the secret?? I'm all ears....

The three of us look forward to sailing with you.
Charmaine (Steven & Stacey)

Welcome Charmaine!

Here is a Question of the Week that I am really looking to reading the answers to (I'll post ours on Thursday!):
What is your favourite Disney memory???

Mine has to be our first date.....Lionel was a CM at the time, and took me to Downtown Disney for dinner at Wolfgang Puck's, and ice cream at the boardwalk. Then a walk around the lake. Except we kept walking. And walking. And ended up at Epcot mere moments before the fireworks. A total surprise! He took me to his favorite spot and we watched them together. Afterwards, I said "I bet you do this with all the ladies" and he said "no, I'm not THAT smooth!"

That was seven years ago. He still makes me feel like we're watching fireworks together. :lovestruc

Welcome roonie! I'll let someone with kids chime in to answer your question. I don't think I could ever keep a cruise secret, kudos!

Regarding FE gifts, Drea, what you proposed sounds just fine. :thumbsup2

And thanks Tiffany and HoagiePie for giving me a kayaking review, I think we'll be skipping it this time....wind and kayaks don't mix :lmao:

Happy Monday everyone! Guess what I just did? PAID MY CRUISE BALANCE OFF!!!!!

OH my gosh, you are good. I'm ready to burst I'm so excited. I don't think I could ever keep this a secret!!

How old are you children? Mine has been emailing with some of the other girls, but I can't see how any of the other kids will be able to keep it a secret. I'd be worried they'd spill the beans and take the fun away from you!

Maybe you should pick a day to surprise them and then have them come on the site and meet the other kids.

If not - they'll meet all the kids on board and they'll have a ball no matter what!

I'm glad you found the DISboards and even happier you found us!! I cannot wait to hear what your plans are to let the secret out of the bag!

If you haven't checked out Post #6 (link in my signature), you'll quickly be brought up to speed on what's going on with this super group! When you get there, you'll see that we have our own website. Within that website, there is a Kids' Forum that we've established for the kids to meet others, however, it's not a place to maintain the secret. :worried: So that's not really an option for what you're trying to accomplish I'm afraid.

If you would like to pass along your children's ages and sex, I would be more than happy to at least let you know how many other pirates and/or princesses are the same ages as yours.

Looking forward to hearing from you some more!

Welcome, welcome and welcome to all the newcomers. I look forward to getting to know you and meeting you and yours this September. Lois

I think Morgan was reading on my name and I'm missing some posts...

Anyway. Question of the week - My favorite Disney memory?

Gee - there are two that stand out in my mind the most -

The first, we did an e-ticket night (back when you paid for them and there really wasn't anyone in the park) at MK. We stayed right till the end, which we rarely did, but my boys were about 9 and 14 at the time and they could handle it. We were leaving the park and there was not a soul on Main Street. The castle was behind us and the lights were twinkling. And When You Wish Upon a Star started to play. I took my oldest and we danced down MainStreet and then myyounger son cut in and we danced. And, they'd kill me if they knew I was telling this story. But, at that moment, they weren't embarassed to be "waltzing" with mom. They just loved that moment and I loved that moment and I will never forget how sweet and innocent it all was (cause we all know how boys can be).

The second, my boys were off to summer camp and I promised Morgan (who was still too young to go) that we'd do a girls' only trip to WDW. We went to CG for dinner (our favorite). Wishes started and there's a part where I always ask everyone who is with us what they wish for. Well, this night, it was just Morgan and me and I asked her and she snuggled up next to me and said, "mommy, I just wish you'd live forever."

OMG. I'm all choked up just typing it.

I have a million others - but those - those are the ones that get me right in that spot. :cloud9:

Oh, and btw, one of my best friend's is named, Charmaine. So, I like you already!! Welcome to you and your family!!

Welcome to the newbies:yay: the more the merrier

charmaine, 3 back to back to back cruise, I am SOOOOO envious, that must have been AMAZING

Erica, Congrats on paying off cruise, its a great feeling huh?

Favorite disney Memory, can I have 3?

1997:Dh and I left for Disney the day after we got engaged (this was before I was disney obsessed, I actually used to REALLY DISLIKE DISNEY:scared1: )
we went in June with his family, they had kids we did not, it was hot and miserable and our nephew was only 1 and wanted to be held by ONLY ME, talk about sweating :faint: Anyway that last day Dh and I decided to do Blizzard Beach, it was our best day EVERY

2001: Had my first miscarriage 3 weeks before we were supposed to leave, tried to cancel trip, airlines said NO WAY. Dh, DD (22 months at the time) and I spent the day in MK and seeing Disney thru DD's eyes was amazing :cloud9:

2004: DD 5th bday, this was our first time onsite as a family, we stayed at the Boardwalk, it was January and the day of the maratho was DD's bday, we got to MK early and had breakfast in the castle, then headed to the Boardwalk that night, The Eagles beat the Packers in the playoffs, we are HUGE Eagles fans, and DD and I went to Epcot while DS (19 monhts at the time) and DH staye at the resort, DD and I rode Spaceship Earth and Test Track, it was a GREAT day and DD still LOVES  Epcot!!!

Thanks for all the welcomes! I am so excited, I can hardly contain myself. For our first cruise (7nt 11/24-12/1/2007) I was GOING to surprise the kids. I lasted all of two hours I think. I had such a big grin, the kids were like "what is going on?" and I just burst it out - "WE'RE GOING ON A DISNEY CRUISE!!!!" I had booked it amost a year in advance, but we posted a countdown on the fridge and the anticipation was half the fun.

For this trip, I have told them we are going to Florida for their Grandpa's birthday (this is partly true, and my parents live in Florida). We are going to magically "bump into" my sister at the airport and that will be part I of the surprise. Then, over breakfast, I have one of those "wish pearl" necklaces for each. I'm going to have them unwrap their present, tell them "well, girls, we ARE in Orlando... if you could wish to do anything here, what would it be?" Of course they've been BEGGING for a dis cruise so I know that will be the unanimous response and we will whisk off to the ship.

That's pure fantasy, of course. What will most likely happen is I wake them up one day soon at like two in the morning because I just can't contain myself.

I am a single mom, my daughters are 13 (will be 14 at sail time)and 9. My sister also went on our first cruise and we promised to make it at least an annual tradition.

Oh boy...is the quesiton of the week going to require a tissue nearby the entire week?

Stella...that is just TOO sweet. Erika, I love your first day story. That's so special. Now the question that I know EVERYONE wants to ask...with all those fireworks going off, did he kiss you, too? :rolleyes1

QUESTION OF THE WEEK FOR ME: Sadly, I don't have a sappy sentimental favorite Disney memory (which is shocking for this girl). However, I will say that my favorite memory was from when I was a freshman in high school. During spring break our band got to march in the daytime parade. It was very cool to be backstage (we met to walk backstage by the POC ride). This was my first trip to WDW, too. I remember seeing lots of floats waiting in line to enter Main Street with everyone truly acting withOUT their game face on. Very cool. I would have to go look, but I'm pretty sure I still have my sticker on my flute case.

Congrats on paying off the cruise, E&L!!

After spending 2 hrs on the phone with Chase Banks travel department we finally got our flights all done....whooooohooooo

I swear they make redeming FF miles so hard you almost just want to say forget it I will just do it myself.

As for the question I am not going to go with the sappy one and go with a funny one. My DD used to call the Disney Store "Mickeys House" and when ever we would go to the mall we always have to go to "Mickeys House". Last year we were at Union Square in San Fransisco and had to go the Disney store the kids called that store "Mickeys Mansion."

I can not tell you how many hours over the years I have stood there and watched my kids play with the bubble machine cause bubbles inside are just more fun. Sadly our store is closing and I just hate that.

I have quite a few contenders for the best memory.

1. DH and I got engaged at Epcot. We were riding the ferry at sunset, and I had managed to get us seats at the back. We had been dating for 2.5 months. I turned to DH and without thinking, blurted out, "Will you marry me?" He immediately replied, "Of course!" and then his brain kicked in, too, and he started, "Waaaait-" I interrupted and said quickly, "No, you already agreed, you can't take it back!!!" :rotfl: A lot of our relationship can be summed up in that moment! Me opening my big mouth and DH going along with it! :thumbsup2 Amazingly, it usually works out pretty well.

2. Mom came with us in October, 2006, to WDW. She was watching kiddo while DH and I ran and did Test Track. It was very, very hot, so she stripped Fiona down and let her play in the sprinklers and took a wonderful picture that is currently on my kitchen counter. That picture makes me smile each time I see it. That trip was full of lovely moments... right, Mom?

3. We were on our 4 day cruise in April, 2007. Fiona was playing in the sink, standing on the toilet. She had put my make-up headband on (crooked, of course) and was quite tickled with herself. Definitely one of those mental snapshots where you see the spirit of someone.

4. This last trip we wandered around the hotels and ended up at Wilderness Club at some point. DH and Fiona played on the playground together, goofing off as the sun came down and it was time to go to dinner. Very sweet memory to hold on to.

Ok, time to go pick up munchkin from day care and get a hug. Kimberly, I think you're right, this question is going to cause a bunch of sniffles!
