With all of the DISers recently getting the SW credit card, I thought this was worth mentioning.

Always double check your credit card statement - especially now that we have RR 2.0!

I was shorted 958 points on my last statment (end date 04/04) and I just had to call to have them manually adjusted by Chase.

Here is my info:

Purchases of $1371.35 (of that, $957.60 were partner purchases)

Rewards on my statement:
Reward Points Earned for Purchases 412
Double Points for SW Partner Purchases 958
Points sent to SW 1371

So, by my calculations (and by the CS rep's calculations as well), I should have received 1371 points just for my spending. Plus an additional 958 points for my partner purchases.

What seems to have happened was that I was basically given just 1 point per partner purchase rather than 2 points/$1.

I happen to travel for work, so I get the benefit of the partner purchases...but I'm guessing there are probably some incorrect statements out there for others too!

What is partner purchases?

Partner purchases are purchases made at one of Southwest's "partner" businesses. The only ones I am aware of are hotels and car rental companies. So when I travel for work, I'll pay for my hotel and car rental with my SW card so I get double points on that spending.

I have a question...how long did it take for you to get your points in the first place? My statement closed on the 16th of April and 6248 points were sent to SW. SW has yet to post them to my account. How long does it usually take? I want to use those points to purchase a 1 way ticket and I am so fearful that my flight will go on sale and the points won't be there.

My last statement closed on 04/04/2011, and my points posted to my SW account of 04/05/2011, so just one day later. Now, the point adjustment that had to be made for my missing points apparently won't post until my next closing date, which stinks.

OP, thanks for posting this. I actually looked at my statements yesterday and noticed something was wrong. I chalked it up to them switching from the old RR to the new RR and that they would catch up. Now, I'm definitely going to call. Thanks!!

See...that is exactly what I would expect. Did I spend too much and they are questioning my points? We are doing a lot of projects on the house that we have been saving for so we knew we would rack up the points. Very frustrating that it is taking so long.

Update: I called and realized that the SW charge that I thought should have been doubled was actually purchased prior to 3/1 (the date the new RR went into effect). Everything worked out well.

On another note: for those that have the SW RR Chase Visa, what is your APR? I asked for a reduction but no luck. I'm not carrying a balance anyway (paying it off every month); it would just be nice to have it lower than it is.

Just a reminder - keep checking your statements!! This is the 3rd month in a row where my points have not been correct...and not in my favor. This month, they deducted my payments that I made during the month off of my points which is not correct at all. Consequently, I was shorted almost 2,000 points this month!! They have corrected it the last 2 months, but it's getting old having to call every month to point out their mistakes.

Check your statements and make sure you're getting all of the points you're supposed to!

Payments should not be deducted from point total but returns will. Still I'm going to check my last 3 statements just to make sure. We put a LOT on our card.

PP, our interest rate is 13.24%. If you must carry a balance this isn't the card for that. Plus there's an annual fee. We end up with way more than $59 worth of flights per year so it's still worth it for us.

Yep, you're right about that. I had $2100 in purchases, $171 in credits, and then around $2000 in payments. My "points for purchases" are -171...so I essentially got no credit at all for my purchases, and the only thing I can think that explains that is that the payments were deducted from my points. I'm getting really tired of having to correct them each month. This is by far the worst - the other months I have been credited an additional 797 points and 277 points.
