Double Check those Suitcases!

I was re-reading all the airline and WDW travel documents and figured, I would double check the dimensions of our suitcases...they are 2 inches two big at 64 inches! If I didn't check I would've had to pay $50 extra per suitcase for "oversized" with Southwest.

Double check the measurements...I knew my suitcases were big but always loved that I only needed one. Hmmmmm. All this planning for the past year and didn't think about this until 4 days before vacation! Oh well, at least I figured it out here rather than at the airport.

Yeah, I had a weight problem last year when we went. I had never had that happen before, but I had also never flown alone with 2 children and was trying very hard to limit bags. I was carrying my son in an Ergo carrier and had reserved a stroller to be delivered to our hotel there instead of bringing mine so I could carry my son's carseat. My 7 year-old was pulling the 20in and I had the 28in pullman. Imagine my shock when it weighed in at 62lbs. It certainly didn't feel like that when I put it in my van.

She offered me a duffle bag for $25, but I didn't have any more magical express tags and I wouldn't be able to carry it so I told her I'd pay the $50 because quite of bit of what was in the bag would not be in it when we came home. And I made sure it came in under weight. I even left some summer clothes I'd bought on clearance for the trip in the room when we left. It was November so my children would have no need for them and would outgrow the clothes by the following summer, so I left them there and asked they go to a shelter.

Next trip we are going in summer and staying longer, so there'll be no leaving clothes behind. I am getting a smaller lighter carseat that folds and has a strap I can hang on the suitcase and I'm going to use two 25 inch uprights and pull one with each hand and let dd push ds in the stroller until we get our bags checked. She'd much rather do that than pull a suitcase. Glad you have time go make the adjustments. Have a great trip.
