I made a reservation yesterday for a stay at the Contemporary in February (surprising my husband for his 50th birthday celebration and its always been his "dream" to stay there).

Well it came out WAY higher than I originally planned for and while I'm keeping my fingers crossed for pixie dust in way of free dining or even a pin to bring the cost down a little, can I in the meantime book the same stay at the POFQ so if we don't get FD or a pin, I can cancel the Contemporary reservation and have the POFQ as my backup?

I'm quite sure you can't double book 2 reservations on property. I currently have a reservation at WL and one at the Dolphin (teacher rate) held simultaneously but that is because the Swan/Dolphin are "Disney but not Disney", in case We don't get the deal we beed to stay at WL. That's one of the few exceptions. If you have AAA or are a nurse or teacher, you could check out the Swan/Dolphin rates so you have that option.

You cannot double book at Disney. Book what you can afford now and if a discount comes out later and that resort has rooms available, you can change your reservation.

That's what I thought...I'll have to leave the reservation at the Contemporary and just hope for the best. Thanks!! :goodvibes

I originally booked LM at AOA for 7 nights in december. I currently also have 3 nights (during that same 7 night period) booked at the CR Theme park view. I am waiting to see if there are any good room only rates (either AP or GP) so that I can modify the AOA reservation to 5 nights. So I am double booked for part of our trip.

I'm not sure if that's true...I had a reservation set up for one hotel and asked if I could possibly set up another using our discount at another hotel for the same time for my parents and was told "yes". We didn't end up having to do it because only my mom is going so we are staying in one room, but I think it's possible.

When I booked with the CM on the phone (who was very sweet) she said they're doing the FD/disocunts for December now and to check back in a month or two to see if there any discounts come up for the period where we'll be staying there.

My husband has done so much for me over the years that I really want to do this for him in return, so I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

I think you can. I currently have two reservations for the exact same dates. I had booked one and then free dining came out. I couldn't get through on the phones so booked another, so now I have two reservations. You do have to pay two deposits though (one will be refunded if you cancel one within 45 days of your stay).
