Double booking ADRs?

So I'm kind of in panic mode right now because of something I came across on the boards. I recently made reservations for CP for a party of 7 for when we're at MK in April. There are actually 10 in our group but originally 3 of the people in our party weren't going to be visiting the MK with us that day. My sister, her DH and DS decided the other day that they'd like to join us for dinner after all. I called to see if I could add them to our ADR but CP was booked solid and I couldn't get them in. The CM suggested that we get them ADRs at another restaurant at the same time for their party of 3 so she set up an ADR for them at The Plaza. I'm worried that someone may see this as double booking since we have two ADRs for 4:00 on the same day, and cancel our ADRs. Does anybody know if this is the case? :confused3 We're defintely not double booking so that we can choose which restaurant to go to (I think that's a pretty unfair thing to do) it's just that our party has to be split up since we can't all be seated at the same restaurant. So we have every intention of using both ADRs. I'm planning on calling to speak to a CM but I'm never sure I can trust the information that I'm given over the phone as the answers I get seem to change depending on who I speak to.

Anyone know anything about this policy? TIA! :)

I can't answer your double-booking question - but I'd like to suggest that you keep calling - daily - to try to add the 3 people to your ADR. There will be cancellations and you could get lucky. Or at least get them a ressie for 3 people at about the same time as you.

We had the same situation on our trip - we found out that friends were going to be there the same week as us and we all wanted to eat together at Ohana. We kept trying for a couple of weeks to get them squeezed onto our ADR. Finally a week or two before the trip - they were able to get their own ADR at Ohana for about 10 min after ours. We all showed up together - and explained the situation to the host - who made it all work out and put us all together.

Not sure if this is considered double booking. iwould call disney dining and let them know. For true Duplicates( booking and deciding where to eat later), disney can and will cancel duplicates...they did this to my neighbor in December, and she had no idea till she got to the podium that they cancelled it on her...:goodvibes

Did you use a different phone number contact? If so I wouldn't worry about it, plus you have your adr #'s so if they xlnd something without your knowledge I would be complaining, and I am sure they wouldn't want to ruin your "disney magic" .. but call back and double check if you are really concerned..

I would just all show up to CP and play the old-I know I said 7 people, but I DID call during a thunderstorm and the line was crackling routine-they will sit you together. I have done it many times and have never had a problem doing that.

Why not just let your sister make her own reservations?

That is what I was going to say. Have your sister call and make her own reservations for 3. Then you can cancel the ones you have for her at the Plaza. She can use her phone number to make the reservation, if you all have the same hotel reservation number. That way you won't have to worry about them canceling your dinner. Then you can still keep trying to call to add the 3 on or she can keep trying to call to get a reservation for 3 at the same time you will be there.

Thanks for the advice everyone. :goodvibes I know I should have had my sister make her own reservations it's just that the CM I was speaking with offered to do it while I had her on the phone so I just went with it. I don't want to risk it though and have them cancel our ADRs so I think I'll have her call herself just in case. I'll keep trying to add her to our ADR and if all else fails I suppose I could pull the ol' but I said 10 routine. ;) Thanks again!

i would just keep trying. i bet you will get them in either on their own as a party of three or ba able to add them to your party of 7.
i wold think taht disney should not cancel your ressie as your one booking is for 7 and the other is for 3, but you never know.

I think the fact that the party sizes are different might make them think twice about cancelling. If you had two ressies both for 10 people, I'd be worried. All that said, I would call and make a new reservation for your sister (or have her do it) at the Plaza under a different phone number. Then cancel the original one. I also agree about calling daily to see if you can get your CP reservation changed for a party of 10. I would also (sorry, but I have too many opinions on this one I guess) try to show up to CP shortly before your reservation and ask them if they can accomodate your larger party. Often the restaurant itself can do things the ADR line can't since they are right there and not the scenario etc. They might be able to go ahead and get you all in. Then someone can run over to Plaza (very close by) and cancel that reservation. And last but not least, keep your confirmation numbers with you at all times. Thats always good advice just in case something weird happens and sometimes it does!

Okay that sounded complicated, sorry! The things we do to eat while at WDW! Good luck!
