What is with the DOT? We live on a busy street that is taken care of by PennDOT - so week before last they went up and down filling in cracks, then putting down tar and little pieces of gravel that spit up all over your car
Then last week they layed fresh asphalt down, first one side, then the other
next day - another coat that didn't come quite to the edge - couldn't get back into my house this day
next day - parts of the shoulder over to the yards
next day - other side of the shoulder - couldn't get in this day either
next day - painted lines - each day had sticky tar and asphalt coming in our driveway, picked up on the kids shoes, etc...
Saturday - I think well it was well worth it - this road is really nice, smooth and it is over

OH NO NO NO - that couldn't be it - now I see they are out there cutting lines in the nice new smooth road (yes, I know it is probably in defense against heaving from frost - but that doesn't make it less annoying)
This time it looks like they are going to be quicker and I shouldn't have trouble leaving to go to the school Halloween parade.

OK, no need to post - I just needed to tell someone and my DH is tired of hearing it so you guys got elected

Easy on the DOT..Some of us ( while not the PennDOT ) Resemble that remark..:lmao: :lmao: :thumbsup2

I spent a few summers working for the highway department. It was a real education. I still love the smell of hot asphalt.

If you have a question you can dial 1-800-FIX-ROADS that will bounce you to your local PennDOT shed and you can ask them.

It sounds like they sealed the road and the paved it. They paint the lines for safety reasons. :thumbsup2

I would say you were luck to get paved, salt and antiskid have chewed up a majority of our local PennDOT's budget. :guilty:

Well, it appears our road is done and I can go back to my regular traffic noise now.
Our road does look very nice and is very smooooooth. (one winter should fix that)
