I am going with my inlaws and DD13 on Wed.
Any and all advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you so much!

Wear LOTS of sunscreen, there isn't much shade to be found. Oh, and the Wild Mouse ride really is wild (DH screamed like a little girl on it!).

If the tag fairy were around you would be in trouble ;)

Thanks Heidi!!

We went a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. The water park does get crowded but maybe not so much on a Wednesday early in the season.

Have fun.

There is a wave pool with a deep end if the in-laws get on your nerves. :rotfl:

You have to ride the Talon! Watch the video. It's an awesome ride. It's similar to the Great Bear at Hershey. http://www.dorneypark.com/public/inside_park/rides/thrill_rides/talon.cfm

Stay away from the old wooden roller coaster unless you want whiplash and a sore back.

If you go to Wild Water Kingdom, you have to try to hop across the lily pads and make sure Rebecca takes pics for us! :rotfl:

You can easily pack lunch and/or dinner and keep it in a cooler in your trunk. The parking lot and entrance are shockingly close together.

There are picnic groves right inside the park, too, if you want to send someone out for food while the others stay in the park.

Thanks everyone!! Silly there will be no pictures!

I live 5 miles from Dorney....the best tip I can give you is to go EARLY!!!!! Also be prepared for a lot of rude people....we live nearby but haven't gone there for over 5 years!!! We prefer HersheyPark or Dutch Wonderland...but then again my kids are younger than yours...ages 7 and 3! 13 is a great age for Dorney! HAVE FUN!!!!

Also be prepared for a lot of rude people and a lot of walking up and down hills....we live nearby but don't go there very frequently!!! The water park gets packed!!!!! and the lines can be forever.

It does have really close picnic facilites. Kids will like it but it isn't my favorite. They do have a good coaster, though :thumbsup2

We went once a few years ago. We liked the park and loved the water area. We spent lots of time there, especially in the interactive water area. I enjoyed watching the teenage boys squirt unsuspecting people and then watched men my age do the same. Hehehe...then I had my turn. I had my DD watch Jake and I had a long turn with the big squirt guns. I had a blast! Oh, and so did the kids... The water park was pretty crowded by the time we got there, so I would go there early if that's important (the interactive area was ok, though).

We would like to go back sometime, but it just hasn't worked out again.

We've been twice...

the 1st time we went was in 2003, before we ever started going on all our Disney vacations. We thought, "Dorney Park is great!!"

Then we went again, after maybe our 2nd Disney trip, & thought, "This park is really the pits!!". It was soooooo, um - yuck! We couldn't help but compare it to Disney.

We'll never go back. I'd rather just save any money we would spend at Dorney Park & put it in our "Disney jar" for our next trip.

Disney turned us into park "snobs". You may totally enjoy Dorney though. Have fun!!

Dorney is OK, Hershey is much cleaner and friendlier. The water park gets packed in the afternoon. It was so not fun for us because of the crowds. Lots of camps and obnoxious kids when we went. (But we went in July)

Steelm Force and the Talon are great coasters though. We love those!

It is our first time to Dorney Park, we will be doing waterpark and roller coasters??

Thanks again for the replys. We are back and had a great time!! We decided to not do the water park, we walked through it though and it looked like alot of fun!!
Lines were minimal to none so we did all of the roller coaster multiple times and all the other rides we wanted.
Food and water was just as, or even more expensive then Disney. As RUDisny mentioned, if you can, pack that cooler, do it!!! Thank you for that tip! :thumbsup2
We were with a group and still packed our own cooler and easily between my DD and I saved mega bucks without hassle.
Now I need to take a hot bath because I AM feeling my age, since I didn't all day :teeth:
