Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

An update - the doc says vertigo. She put me on meclizine for the dizziness, and once my world stops spinning, my nausea should lessen too.

No driving, no going to work, no computer (or very little), no reading. I get rechecked on Thursday afternoon. I'll pop in when I can but hopefully I'm on the road to recovery. :sunny:

So glad you're starting to feel better. I had vertigo the first couple of days of my last cruise. It really does a number on you! The medication should do the trick.

Get lots of rest if you can.

When you feel yourself spinning, pretend you're on the Carrousel or Teacups. Tell Mary Poppins and Alice I said hey.

Disneygoof, LOVE your idea! I'll definitely say hi to Mary Poppins & Alice! :p

The meds are helping my tummy feel less nauseous, so I'm able to eat and drink as long as I choose wisely. :p I still can only stand for 3 - 4 minutes before I have to lay down or risk fainting. The puppy is getting LOTS of snuggle time and loving it!

I'm so sorry I can't get around to other journals. I have all this time and I'm so BORED but I can only handle about 5 - 10 minutes of computer time before I get dizzy again. I miss hearing about all my WISH friends! Please know that I'm thinking of you all and sending out good vibes. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Good news from the doctor! This whole vertigo thing should run its course in the next week or two - YAY! I'm off work until NEXT Friday and the doc says if I need more time, just call & he'll write another note. Of course he also said I might feel better sooner. Who knows! :rolleyes: He said I'll KNOW when I'm ready to go back to work. :p He knows I have 2 teenagers at home and that I'll only be able to take so much of them. :teeth: :crazy:

I'm relieved that it's nothing serious - no brain tumors or debilitating syndromes. I think I'll throw a little celebration tonight - not sure what I'll do but I'm in the mood to celebrate! :teeth:

I've been low-carbing today and I think I'll try to continue the trend. I still haven't ventured out for a walk but DH fixed my eliptical trainer. I figure I'll try that today. I'm actually MISSING exercise! :eek: :p

Hopefully I'll be feeling up to more and more computer time and I'll be able to get around to journals over the course of this weekend.

I do hope you are feeling better soon. Vertigo - I get this when my sinuses get all blocked up sometimes...I really feel for you!

Please take it easy and don't let the teens drive you crazy! I'm sure they are very helpful.

Doreen, I am so glad it wasn't anything serious. We always do imagine the worst. I know I do the same thing. If something goes wrong for me, I look it up on WebMD.....That is the worse thing I could do. There are so many similarities sometimes and you really should always seek a doctor's help....This turned out to be a speech to myself somehow. LOL

Glad to hear that you will be yourself in no time at all.

I know I am a little early in doing this but I wanted to wish you a wonderful weekend.:wizard:

I have been away and I have just caught up on your journal. I am sorry for what you have been going through. I am glad that you have got good news from the Dr.. I think this mandatory order for you to take a rest may be a little gift in disguise. Please enjoy your down time and your puppy and some quiet time with your thoughts. You will be up and around in no time and then you will be longing for a quiet day in bed with the pooch!

Yesterday I was feeling better but today I have that spinning sensation again. It was very rainy today - I wonder if vertigo acts up in rainy weather like some people say their arthritis acts up?? I still managed to have a semi-productive day but I did take 2 naps. I'm getting lots of rest!

Thanks for all the encouraging words. I am truly trying to use this time as a gift, a time to slow down and contemplate what's really important, a time to do those things that never get done, like straightening out my sock drawer and getting rid of those socks I don't wear, and a time to sit and talk with my family at a leisurely pace with no pressing places to run off to.

Lazy me! I haven't been doing very well in the healthy eating or exercising parts of my life. I've been taking it easy and resting a lot and grabbing whatever food is handy.

I really must get back in the groove. I'll be going back to work on Friday. The vertigo is a lot better. It's time to get off my lazy bum and get back to my healthy living.

My goals for today -
1. Meds & vitamin
2. Drink 48 oz. water.
3. Eat at least one healthy low-carb meal.
4. Do 10 minutes of exercise.

I'm setting my goals at a very modest level so I have no excuses not to meet them.
