Doreen's New Way of Life (comments are welcome)

After the grocery trip and the unpacking of the groceries (did we REALLY buy all this???), we ate lunch & vegged a bit. DH & I went for our massages while the girls napped. We headed over to Epcot for the evening - rode Mission:Space & the ride at Mexico, got one of our coveted margaritas & strolled World Showcase. The girls had a great time stopping at practically every shop. They were trying on various hats and making us laugh! We watched Illuminations and then let the crowd walk by. We finally strolled around World Showcase when it was practically empty - ahhhhh. We made a trip to the hot tub and finally crashed around 12:30 AM!

DH & I just got up - the girls are still sleeping. The only solid plan for today is E-ticket night at the MK. I'm a little worried because MK is open until 11 PM and then E-ticket runs for 3 hours - 2 AM!! My bedtime at home is usually 9 or 10 - will I make it??? I think I'll try to catch a nap this afternoon!

Yesterday's food was good until I got the nachos & margarita in Mexico, but we're doing lots of walking and I'm staying on plan for the most part.

Good morning Doe!

You are going to be in MK - I just know that you'll be going through Adventure Land to the Aloha Isle stand and will relish in the soft serve Pineapple Dole Whip as you make your way to Pirates of the Carribean of Jungle Cruise. I can just picture it. Ahhhhhhh.............................I wish I could just :teleport: right there..............:cloud9:

Have I mentioned how freaking jealous I am!!!!!!

Hope you are having a great time. I am so jealous. When we went in April, the MK closed at 6-7PM on three of our nights for grad nights, special events. It would be heaven to be able to stay there until 11. And 2am??? Lead me to Space Mtn. baby!!!:Pinkbounc

Ahhhhhhh, to be leading your life, Doreen. It all sounds fabulous. Did you enjoy your massage? (Dumb question, right?:p ) Where did you go for it? I'm guessing there's a spa right there at BCV?

I think one of my favorite WDW times and places is Epcot after the fireworks. . .warm air, flickering torches, perfect atmosphere. . .add a margarita and a DH and it's almost heaven.
Did I happen to say, "ahhhhhhhhhh"?

What are you doing today?

Glad you're enjoying yourself. Give a  to Todd, Steph, and Kim.

Yesterday afternoon we headed over to Animal Kingdom. We rode Primeval Whirl, the girls rode Dinosaur, and we explored the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Then we headed to Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. We had an hour to check out the lodge - spent some time watching the flamingo flock and the giraffes - and then we had dinner at Boma. I've always wanted to try Boma and the food was good, but I've discovered that my family and I are not very adventurous eaters. We enjoyed it but I doubt we'll go back. Then we headed back to the room. DH & I took a nap while the girls went to play tennis. By 9:15 we were headed to the MK. We watched Wishes (LOVE that fireworks show!) and then parted ways with the girls. DH & I shared a Dole Whip, watched Spectromagic and strolled and rode a couple rides. We met up with the girls at 2 AM and waited forever for a bus back to BCV. It was a good day!

DH & I woke up around 9. I have laundry running and we'll take it slow today. Kim wants to go out and get a card for her father for Father's Day and get it mailed, so that's first on the list. We don't have any other plans yet. Life is good and I'm feeling relaxed.

Erin, we got our massages at the Beach Club's health club....ahhhhh.

Good morning Doe!

Reading about your fun time reminds me of my trip. I wish I was still there. Speaking of "wishes", isn't that just the best fireworks show? I had read about it here on the DIS and I thought I'd enjoy it but boy was I not prepared for how much I loved it! My sister was so impressed as we watched the show from our room most nights at the Grand Floridian.

I just can't wait to go back and even though it will be a while, I'm writing a trip report (I took extensive notes) and will have my memories and other people's trip reports to keep me going!

Have a wonderful time!!!:sunny:

I lovedWISHES. We saw it 3 times on our October trip. Sounds like you know how to do WDW. Go for 2 weeks and relax. Now if I could just convince DH. Amanda will be glad to hear that you had a dole whip. Have a fabulous day!

Thanks for keeping us informed - it makes us all soooo happy :goodvibes

Sounds like a fantastic trip so far - great food, lots of walking & in the hot tub with the dh - life is GRAND :flower1:

I can't think of a more fun place to walk than Disney!!! I'm so glad you are having a fun and relaxing trip!

I'm almost there too - your trip is sounding Heavenly so far.

I can't think of a better place to get a walk in than EPCOT after Illuminations or was that MK after dark or that trail in Asia with the Tigers right before closing....we saw the tigers go for a swim! Oh please keep posting the trip reports!

Let's see, where did I leave off?? We got up late yesterday and lazed around. DH & I walked around Epcot & picked up a card for Kim to send to her father. We got back & the girls were STILL sleeping! They finally woke up around 1 PM.

The girls & I went to Blizzard Beach & rode quite a few of the major slides. DD braved Summit Plummet and loved it!! DH headed for Downtown Disney & saw a movie. The girls & I returned to the room for a snack & then they headed to the pool for a swim.

Today we all got up pretty early and headed to MGM. DH & I went one way & the girls went another. We met up at 50s Prime Time for lunch and now we're back at the room for a mid-day break. I had the chicken sandwich / no bun and I swapped out the fries for the sauteed green beans. It was a perfect low-carb lunch!

I'm feeling thinner!

Hi Doreen,

Sounds like the disney magic continues. You are doing a great job with eating lc, just treats here and there. I'm impressed. You sound so happy. Enjoy the day.

Yesterday afternoon, the girls wanted to try the health club. They just wanted to use the treadmills but they'd never been in a real health club before so I had to show them around. I thought of Sharon as I taught them to use the evil steppers!! They did use the treadmills also. Then I showed them the steam room and the sauna, and explained the difference. They loved it!

Last night we stayed in. Kim's family always makes their own pizza on Friday night - it's a tradition - and Kim brought the recipe. The girls took over the kitchen while DH & I sat on the balcony sipping wine and reading. :) Pizza isn't low-carb but I had to eat it - only 2 slices. We watched the Illuminations fireworks from the balcony - can only see the high ones but we can hear the music! Then the girls fell asleep and DH was nice enough to clean up the total disaster in the kitchen - great guy!!

DH and I also worked on a stroller that we're babysitting. The DIS has a stroller swap going and the stroller is passed from family to family. We had to babysit it for 5 days while it was between families. Well, when we finally found it (bit of a challenge), it was filthy and broken. We washed the parts we could, DH got some cleaner and paper towels from Housekeeping and wiped down the rest of the parts and Maintenance was nice enough to bring some new screws to help with the repairs. It's looking good and ready to roll! We turn it over to the next family tomorrow. It's nice to be able to give back a little of the pixie dust we've received from the DISBoards.

This morning we did lots of laundry and lazed around. The girls have headed off to the pool and DH went to the movies. I think we'll eat dinner in the room tonight and then stroll over to Epcot to see Illuminations.

The weather has definitely been hot and humid. The crowds are manageable - typical busy summer. DH and I agree that we just don't care about the rides like we used to. We're content to stroll around and soak up atmosphere.

Yesterday the girls returned from the pool and decided Downtown Disney sounded good, so off we went! We strolled through the shops and DH met us after his movies. He saw "Around the World in 80 Days" and "Terminal". Then the girls wanted to pop into Disney Quest for a bit. After that, we headed home and ate a quick dinner in the room. At 8:30, the girls decided that we all "needed" a Kitchen Sink from Beaches & Cream. I was doing great on low-carb until then....LOL! Afterward, DH and I strolled around the lake to walk off all that ice cream while the girls went back to the room & crashed.

This morning the girls slept in. I went for a swim - had the quiet pool all to myself for an hour - ahhhhh! DH got some coffee and is headed for a long stroll to MGM & back. The girls want to be at Disney Quest when it opens today at 11:30, so we'll drive them there and then head to Saratoga Springs (the new DVC resort) to look around. DH wants to watch the NASCAR race this afternoon so the girls can take the bus home when they're finished.

Life is good! :sunny:
