Oh Doreen I'm so happy for you :flower: :flower: :flower:

You needed this break! I'm so happy to hear the relief in your post. You sound great!

Sunny

That is great Doe!!! I am glad you can have some stress relief!!! :cool1:

My afternoon meeting yesterday went well but led to a refocusing of one of my projects, which translates into more work and a high profile for a while. :teeth: My management is committed to giving me all the help I need to get things done which is always helpful.

Today I've got a ton of work but the knot in my stomach isn't nearly as bad as it was. Each task is manageable, even if there are too many of them. :p No journals for me - I've got a lot of work to do. I'll try to get around next week, since I'll be in Ocean City this weekend without internet access.

The plan is to get through my workday and then go home, do laundry and pack for my trip. I'm leaving early tomorrow morning and will be back sometime on Sunday.

Gotta run - lots to do! :sunny:

Best WISHES to you Doe! :cool1: Have a wonderful time visiting with Erin and walking the walk. I am so proud of you for just going out there and DOING it! WTG! Have a wonderful, peaceful and somewhat relaxing weekend. You will come back a new woman, ready to refocus on the workload ahead! :goodvibes

Enjoy! I will be thinking of you and Erin on Sat morning!! :sunny: :sunny:

Hi Doreen,

I'm glad your work situation looks better. I hope you have a wonderful day today and I'll see you tomorrow morning. I too am really excited about having a wonderful weekend.

Hi Doe: Glad to see your work has eased to more manageable proportions. I would love to hear about Ocean City when you get a chance. I've decided to try the WDW 1/2 in 2006 -maybe this time I'll be able to pace myself correctly and finish.

I'm home again, after a most excellent adventure!!!! :cloud9:

Everything about this weekend trip was great! Erin and I met MelanieC before the race. It was COLD and WINDY :cold: but at least the sun was shining and the skies were blue. Erin was the strong one, making this half marathon stuff look easy. She was my inspiration to keep going. She was usually a few paces in front of me, encouraging me to keep going. We THOUGHT the worst of the wind was over and the course was flat, until mile 12. We turned a corner and saw a long uphill grade with a bridge at the top, and the bridge looked like it rose straight up into the sky!!! We walked up the hill and made it to the bridge. The winds on the bridge had to be gale force - there is just no way to describe the force. It literally was impossible for me to walk in a straight line, blowing me sideways. Knowing that the finish line was supposed to be just over the bridge, Erin and I plodded on. We crossed the finish line together - I think Erin said the time was 3:13:47, though I could be off by a few seconds. We did it!!

Melanie stayed with us through most of the race and we all enjoyed talking and having a good time. She left us late in the race, somewhere after mile 10 or 11. She finished in......are you ready???......under 3 HOURS!!! :cheer2: Her family was there to meet her at the finish line and they were kind enough to stick around and cheer Erin and I on when we finished. They even gave us a ride back to Erin's car (thanks to Bill, Melanie's husband!!!).

It was back to the hotel for a nap and a shower and then we spent the rest of the day doing the typical Ocean City stuff. We strolled about a block of the boardwalk and stopped to play Skee-ball. We ate lunch at Dough Rollers. We actually took the course map and drove the course we had just walked, gaining a new appreciation for how long 13.1 miles really are!! We both agreed it was best we didn't drive it the night before the race. It seemed so long!!! Then we stopped at Dumsers for a celebratory sundae! :p

What a great trip and many wonderful memories!

Hey, WISH-sis. I'm glad to hear you got home safely. Know that I'll be thinking about you today and tomorrow as you transition back to "the real world" and put your jock athlete princess: aside for a couple of days.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

 ,
Erin

P.S. Was Maya happy to see you? :)

Just dropping by on this Monday morning, to let you know that I'm thinking of you and wishing you :sunny: , inside and out.

 ,
Erin

P.S. Did you take a medal to work? :)

:sunny: I feel so sunny today! :sunny:

The weekend was wonderful. I feel so rested and refreshed and de-stressed and proud of our accomplishments (and just a little sore :p ). The world around me seems full of possibilities and promise. The last time I felt like this was after the Disney half marathon. I can see why people make distance events a part of their lives. We met a man who has done 28 marathons and was planning to do 2 more this past weekend. If he's feeling like this, I can understand the drive to keep that feeling in his life on a regular basis.

Erin suggested that I keep one of my medals in a desk drawer at work. That way, when work seems overwhelming and I'm feeling less than confident, I can hold that medal and remember this feeling, remember that I am stronger than I know, remember that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I have my Ocean City medal out on my desk, where I can see it and remember these feelings when work starts to press in around me. I just can't bear to put it in a drawer quite yet. :p

Physically, I feel better than I did after the Disney half. I guess all those things they say about "muscle memory" must be true. My body seems to be adapting to these longer distances - hooray! The scale shows that I gained 3 pounds over the weekend. Now, I did eat whatever I wanted but I didn't eat that much, and I remember bringing quite a few pounds of water weight home from the Disney half. My rings are tight but my skin is really dry so I know I'm retaining water. I'm making it a priority to drink like a :fish: today.

So today it's back to reality. I have 2 meetings and a boatload of work but I'm feeling so darn positive about life that work isn't feeling like a burden at the moment. I sure hope I can hang onto this feeling for a while! ::yes::

1. Devotions - Just as we sand and refinish furniture that is scarred, God is refinishing us, and I bet, just as we admire our handiwork, God admires the work He has done to restore us. :p
2. Pills - will take them with breakfast.
3. Water - finished 1 mug and will be drinking 4 more.
4. Healthy eating - B = oatmeal, L will be a burger, snacks will be an apple w/ PB and a banana, D will be something healthy that I pick up from the store on the way home from work. I'm hungry for healthy food again - YAY!!
5. Exercise - I'll walk just a mile or so at a leisurely pace to loosen up the muscles. My Marathoning for Mortals book says no heavy exercise for 2-3 weeks, to give my body a chance to repair the damage from the half.

I'm looking forward to a good day. :sunny:
