Doreen's Fresh Start & Success Story! (Welcome Friends!)

:rockband: Due to the cloudy dreary morning here, I'm going to slow things down a bit with a Barry Manilow tune called "I Made It Through the Rain". It's one of the few melancholy, yet positive songs I know. :teeth:

We dreamers have our ways of facing rainy days and somehow we survive

We keep the feelings warm, protect them from the storm, until our time arrives

Then one day the sun appears and we come shining through those lonely years

I made it through the rain, I kept my world protected
I made it throught the rain, I kept my point of view
I made it through the rain and found myself respected
By the others who got rained on too and made it through

When friends are hard to find and life seems so unkind sometimes you feel so afraid

Just aim beyond the clouds and rise above the crowds and start your own parade

'Cause when I chased my fears away, that's when I knew that I could finally say

I made it through the rain, I kept my world protected
I made it throught the rain, I kept my point of view
I made it through the rain and found myself respected
By the others who got rained on too and made it through

An oldie but a goodie for me. :p

Last evening I had the best of intentions. I laid down around 6 PM to take just a half hour nap. I woke up at 9 PM to eat a low carb english muffin and feed the dog. Then I went back to bed and slept til morning. I must've really needed the rest! ::yes::

Today:
1. Devotions - from the Upper Room devotional, "Christ entrusted the gospel of love and grace and forgiveness to human beings -- to us. What a privilege! What a responsibility!"
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - drank 50 oz yesterday, will try for 60 oz today.
4. Healthy eating - B = breakfast pizza with lots of veggies (this was surprisingly good!)
5. Exercise - if I can stay awake tonight :teeth:
6. Bedtime - 10 PM

As soon as I knew we were bringing in 2 consultants and 2 staff members, I knew we should all be sitting together at work. That meant I would have to change cubes. Yesterday it finally hit me - I found out where I'll be moving to. I realized how comforting it is to show up to the same place and talk to the same people every day. Moving will take me out of that comfort zone for a time, as I adjust to new people and a new area. The new cube will mean no more DISing at work (except for breaks & lunch hour). I have a week or two left before I have to change seats.

The weekend is blissfully free of any obligations or plans! I'm going to take it as it comes. I do need to get to the grocery store - one of those major stock-up trips, but I can do it at a leisurely pace. :cloud9:

Now I'm off to get some work done - sure are plenty of assignments to keep me busy. :p

Morning Girl! Barry Manilow :sad2: - just teasing! :goodvibes

You really needed your beauty rest didn't you? We all have nights like that. I got home from class last night and crashed. No talking to Brian, no cuddling, just sleep. And I still woke up late this morning and I am sitting her in my PJ's when I should be in the shower getting ready. Can you tell I"m unmotivated?

Have a great day!

~Amanda

PS> I hate changing Cubes!

Doe-doe, Barry Manilow :confused3 what a classic though!

Hope your friday is fantastic! don't let the stress get to you. Yummy b-fast pizza, is it low carb? where did you find lc english muffins? My grocery store is so not carrying lc stuff anymore :guilty:

Stay strong!
Maryellen

What's wrong with Barry Manilow???? :confused3

:rockband: We'll pick things up with another Manilow classic "Copacabana". How can you NOT like that song?

3. 20 oz down

Breakfast pizza isn't technically low carb, but it's better than a bagel or muffin. It was regular pizza with the tomato sauce & cheese, but the toppings included scrambled eggs, along with green peppers, onions, tomato and mushrooms. To be honest, with all the other tastes, I didn't taste the scrambled eggs, which is fine with me. :p I never eat the crusty end of the pizza so that lowers the carbs a bit.

The lc english muffins are from Thomas, maker of the classic english muffins, and I get them at my local grocery store.

MeMe, you asked about the next walk, and to be honest, I haven't decided. I'd love to do another half in the fall but the one in Philly has a 15 minute per mile pace requirement. That seems like more stress than I want. Maybe I'll cut back to doing 5Ks (about 3.1 miles) and try to do some running? Not sure.

I forgot the other bit of good news - the scale was down again today, to 153!! WOO HOO!! My goal is to not see 155 again, unless it's due to water weight just prior to TOM. :p

Wow! 153! You're so lucky! :cloud9: The pounds are just whooshing off of you! I'm sorry, but as the old lady of the group I have to say that I am loving the Barry Manilow "I Made it Through the Rain" (such a great song) and if you keep up with Copa too much longer, I'm may have to leave this party for something more peaceful! :p

Can I also get in on the Jefferson Distance Run discussion? I can say I'm "interested," but I can't commit a darn thing at this point. I checked the website and it said that registration is open until Sept. something, so if I do it, it'll be a decision made closer to the deadline. I do have it in the back of my mind, though. . .I always like to dream. :) If I had the extra cash, I'd be off to St. Louis to walk with Amanda!

Doreen, you have to move your seat?! Aw, rats, that stinks. I say mourn for a few days at the loss of your old comfy place and then go buy yourself a couple of new desk thingys to liven up your new cube.

Oh, can I ask you a question? Do you know if there's a way to change the title of a journal without starting a new thread? I'd like to keep the thread I'm journaling on, but I hate the "Just Do It" title. Any techy support that you can give me will be appreciated.

Stop quick! Think about this: what were you doing one week ago this minute? Chances are we were laughing--or crying--about something! What an incredible time we had! :hyper2:

I'm off to get ready for work--
Erin

3. 40 oz of water down, & I'll be refilling my 20 oz bottle one more time!
4. L = 1 oz cashews & a banana - I was still full from breakfast! S = an apple w/ PB

I'm on track for a very healthy day!

Hi Doe!

Stopping by to WISH you a wonderful weekend! I don't know about where you live, but here in Ohio, we are expecting 6-12" of snow tomorrow! Yikes! :earseek: I knew we were getting spoiled with all of those 60 degree and sunny days. ;)Have a blessed weekend! :flower:

I've been busy all morning running errands. I still have more to do. ::yes::

I see a nap in my future. :cloud9:

Hi Doe,

I am sorry I wasn't around to celebrate with you and Erin. You continue to inspire me. Great job losing thse extra pounds. You are on roll.

I am sorry that you'll have to move your cubicle. Hopefully th new neighbors are friendly. I agree with Erin, a shopping trip is in order for your new home.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Beth

So I talked to Susan, and she said that if you come and do the Lewis and Clark marathon in September - that she would definately do it with us. Sure, she won't do it with just me, ya know - her neighbor. But if you are there then she couldn't pass it up.

Have I mentioned that the Lewis and Clark half is on my birthday...........:) So you would be in town for my b-day!!! :)

~Amanda

Hmmm, could a road trip for Doreen be in the works? :)

Hey, girlfriend, have yourself a terrific Monday. Move on through and the weekend will be back before you know it. I'll lift a cup of tea to you at 4 p.m.

Love,
Erin

Congrats on 153!!! Go you!!!!

Hope you have a great Monday!

The weekend was a good one. I even managed to get out and walk a mile yesterday. I actually tried to run a short bit of it. Boy, am I out of shape as far as running! Time to get serious about my level of fitness. ::yes::

Today I'm back at work and ready to move through a very busy week. All 3 of my projects will be demanding my time and effort, so I'll need to stay focused and plan my days carefully. Baby steps will get me through. I'm feeling upbeat and confident, in spite of the workload. :)

1. Devotions - on giving and learning to relate directly to the people who are receiving.
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - have my bottle and am drinking it down.
4. Healthy eating - B = yogurt w/ almonds, L will be chicken corn soup, snacks will be an orange and a banana. D will be either ham steaks or chicken parmesan.
5. Exercise - will walk 1 mile after work.
6. Bedtime - 10 PM.

Some days I look at my plan and I KNOW I'm not going to meet all these objectives, but today it looks positive and do-able. I'm not sure where this sunny mood is coming from but I'll take it. :sunny: I feel a quiet confidence in myself at the moment and it's nice! :cloud9:

I truly believe it's going to be a good day!

Funny how we can write down our goals and just know that we will not be able to complete them all. In many ways we are setting ourselves up for disappointment - instead of just being honest with ourselves. Your post has got me thinking about what I'm going to do on those days that I know I'm not going to be able to focus on those goals like I would like to. I'll need to ponder that awhile.

Be sure to go and check my journal! I am so excited!

Your menu looks yummy - especially the chicken parmesean! :)

~Amanda

Hi Doe,

I have also set my goals too high at times. I try not to look at it as setting myself up for failure. I try to look at it as believing that I can at least try to do my best everydy.

I hope you are having a great evening.
Beth

Well, the quiet confidence of yesterday morning gave way to tiredness and unhealthy choices last evening. :confused3 I did earn smilies for devotions, pills and bedtime. :) :) :)

I am excited about doing the Lewis & Clark half marathon with Amanda and her friend Susan in September. I MUST be a true long-distance athlete, since I'll be traveling to St. Louis for this one. :Pinkbounc Actually it's a combination of spending time with dear friends and that wonderful feeling I get at the end of a race. I've never been west of Pittsburgh, so I'm also excited to see a new area of the country.

Today I have 3 different meetings to attend and lots of work to accomplish. It will be a full and busy one. Tonight, I'd love to commit to exercise and getting things done around the house, but I'm feeling the weariness of the DZone. That means I'll survive through the workday, but will be totally out of energy when I get home. I need to respect my limitations. I know I can rise above them in an emergency, but cleaning the bathroom is NOT an emergency. :p I'm going to give my body the extra rest it wants this evening.

1. Devotions - God will allow me to reap the consequences when I choose my own agenda over His agenda for me. However, He is still in the reconstruction business and will be there to help me rebuild. He is a constant source of hopefulness and rebirth.
2. Pills - taken.
3. Water - I'll drink at least 2 bottles during the workday. I'm scaling back my expectations.
4. Healthy eating - I'm scaling back here too. I'll eat healthy during the workday. B = ham, egg, cheese on croissant (too many carbs but good!), L = yogurt w/ almonds, snacks = orange and banana.
5. Exercise - a 15 minute stroll to and from a meeting in another building. Yeah, this is lame but .... oh well. :p
6. Bedtime - 10 PM. I need to honor this goal. I really need my rest now.

I've scaled back to objectives that are reasonable. This will be good enough.

Now, I must get into the piles of work on my desk. Baby steps! :sunny:

Hi Doreen :sunny:
Your half marathon sounds wonderful! Combining a great exercise accomplishment with reuniting with great friends is a great plan!

Cleaning the bathroom is not an emergency :rotfl2: I've learned to tolerate a lot more mess in my home in order to do the things I want/need to do, too! Good for you!

Your devotions are great. Thanks for sharing them.

Sunny

You and I are in the same place girl. Realizing we have limitations and respecting them instead of beating ourselves up over them.

Your stroll is not lame! Heck - if I got a 15 minute walk in everyday I would be doing good! I am however teathered to my cubicle for 8 hours.

Keep the Faith my friend!

~Amanda

Happy Tuesday, WISH-sis, and good work on scaling back those limitations. You know that you have to take care of YOU, and the DZone requires extra TLC, if you ask me.

I'm excited for you and Amanda and can't imagine what it must be like to have another Half scheduled already! How fun! Let the trip planning begin!

Hang in there and good luck with all your meetings--

 ,
Erin
