Dora the Explorer for DS

Am I the only one who wishes they made some Dora toys aimed towards boys?? Everything is pink!! LOL I know she's a girl but my DS 2 really likes the show. He doesn't play with doll like toys or stuffed animals. So those are out. All the talking things which I think he would like all look too girly.

My DS5 really likes Dora too. Fortunately, so does DD2. So she can get the Dora stuff and he can play with them too.

My 3 year old DS loves Dora and it IS frustrating because almost everything is pink. I did buy him a Dora that went in the water. She had a inner tube, flippers and boots. We accidently left her at the pool one day...

Now that they added Diego, maybe they are trying to cater a little more to the boy crowd.

Sometimes I wonder if the writers on that show are bored and are adding some stuff for the parents to laugh at (or take the wrong way). The one where Boots loses his squeeky toy (we have that one DVD and watch it occassionally in the car) and Boots sings about loving his "Squeeky" and how he squeeks it up high, he squeeks it down low, then he squeeks it real slow... My Dh has tears in his eyes laughing for how that could be taken "the wrong way".

Dora is cute. Maybe that's why your DS's like her.

Seriously, Dora's mission is to both entertain and instruct kids-boys as well as girls. Ever see the big plush Doras at KB? Get one of them for your DS...and tell him she can be his friend.

You know who IS doing this? Sesame Street. Watch that some time and see if you don't think that something is simultaneously very funny and over a 3-year old's head.

They had one scene where Slimy and his other worm friends were having a costume parade, and one of them dressed as a purple dinosaur. Upon seeing the costume, one of the characters turned to Oscar the Grouch and asked "Who is that supposed to be?" Oscar's reply, "I have no idea." I was ROFL!

My other fave was Grover and Cookie Monster performing motions for the kids to mimic, like jump up and down, turn in a circle, etc. Grover always did something different, but CM always said "Eat Cookie!" When Grover asked why CM never changed he replied, "Me not Macaroni Monster, you know."

I totally agree!! My DS -3 LOVES Dora and wants everything he sees but it's all a bit too girly for me to get him.

Maybe that is why they introduced Diego but they needed to get some boy stuff on the market really soon.

My DS3 loves Dora too! He got the talking Diego doll, Dora pogo stick and Dora colorforms for his birthday. For Christmas he's getting a small Swiper and Boots from Kmart (they are about 4" tall). He already has the bathtub Dora, and various books, coloring books and activity packs. I don't think the toys are totally geared towards girls, but there are no boys clothes!

We love Diego here! DS is really into animals and he made a pretend "field journal" out of a credit card holder (?). I'd love to see some Diego/Boots/Swiper clothes or jammies.

The folks marketing Dora are missing a HUGE target! If you sell it, we will come!

Yes DH & family were arguing with me yesterday!

Our nephews (1 & 2) LOVE LOVE Dora. I bought them Dora toys and they were telling me I shoudn't GIVE IT TO THEM.

Well before I returned the stuff I asked SIL and she said not to worry. So everything is ok.
