Doorway to Dreams Feb Event (IL)

Is anyone going? I don't know much about DVC, but am more honestly going because I am hoping to get the kids a little Disney magic to tide them over till next year.
I searched and found a thread about the August event, but it really didn't have much info about the event itself. Can anyone shed some light on food/drink (complimentary or cash needed), stuff for kids to do (show? play area?) and character face time/one on one? I will be going to the 7pm Sat event with my sister and 3 kiddos: 2.5 YO, 8 YO and 9 YO. TIA!

We've been to every one of these since the first one!
Based on past experiences:
Food and drink is complimentary. There will be a bar with soft drinks and beer/wine.

The post card for this one specified a "dessert buffet." In the past, appetizers approaching a full meal were provided (last time from the new restaurant at Kindani Village at AKV), but it seems like just desserts this time.

They will have an area for little kids and there will be characters. The show is fairly entertaining and usually has some giveaways and behind the scenes info.

Of course, there will be offers. These are usually quite good and can be the best that Disney offers - but they all require purchase that night (normal real estate laws apply, but they will want it right then to get the promotions).

You'll be able to tour the BLT model in the store (the event is at the Improv comedy club in a different part of the mall) and there should be a gift bag for all with some little Doorway to Dreams logo merchandise.

If you trade pins, you will see some cast lanyards there too.

We live in the Chicagoland area, but bought our DVC membership through the Orlando office ... can we still attend these kinds of events, or no? This is the first I'm hearing of them.

yes you can attend, it is for current members and for people just wanting information. there are seperate times for members and non-members. you have to pre-register: www.myvacationwishes.com/dvc. we are going saturday, the 21st, at 10:00.

Do you think they will offer something like this to the NY members when the LI Doorway to Dreams opens?

Also, was there something special at the opening, or before the opening for DVC members in the IL one?
