I was wondering what this store is? I am in Maryland and a trip over to Chicago, while not as warm would be easier for me than Orlando (have a friend to stay with). Was wondering if they have models of BLT there and if you can purchase a contract there. I already have a guide in the system, but I really don't want to buy BLT until I see the models. Also do they give better incentives at this store. Would it be a problem that we live in Maryland?

Thanks! Just very curious about this store.

Yes, they do have the BLT models open there and yes you can purchase contracts there. I don't know what the incentives are though. Have fun!

I was actually there yesterday -

I just wanted to go into the models, as I needed a shot of my "happy place" (having a son in the hospital, and time on my hands till visiting is allowed) I've been thru the DVC presentation when they had the AKV models up, and just wanted to go thru the BLT models... they looked up my info on their computers, and yep I was there (not a dvc member -- yet!) so they put me into a holding room with the maps of Kindani, and BLT, then a nice guide came in and sat and asked me a questions and felt I knew a lot about Disney and DVC (HHI etc) so then she took me thru the rooms -

I didnt get much chance to enjoy as many family members kept calling me (I didnt take the calls, but still, my mind was elsewhere)

After touching the bed, the doors, the kitchens... and going out to the "balcony") I was led into another room where she gave me the point, pay sheet - again letting me take it with me - as well as a pin (doorway to dream) and luggage tag...

I know there are quite a few Chicago area DVC members that have been, and they can speak to you better about coming out - one incentive was 120 points for this year to be used at SSR by Oct - dont quote me the material is in my car! I may have the points and date wrong - I'm sure i"m in the ball park.

If you do decide its worth it to come out - I encourage you to priceline or hotwire a hotel - lots of hotel rooms in the Schaumburg area - read how to on betterbidding.com!

Thank you for the update. Glad you got to see the models. Sorry about your son in the hospital. Prayers and thoughts are with you! Disney is my Happy Place as well and that is why I really want to buy into DVC. With the new changes on points, it is scaring me though :scared1:

I do have a friend who has a condo for work in the suburbs of Chicago. Where is the store? Is it in Schaumburg? I will ask her to see if it is close by. That way I can visit her and see the models. Of course, I would rather just head down to Orlando. Especially with all this ice on the ground here in Maryland! Thanks again! Sounds like the incentives are the same. Just Curious if the guide gave you the new point chart for 2010 for BLT and AKV. I just got the DREAM book with no charts in it, but they did include only the 2009 points chart for BLT and AKV. If I wasn't on the Disboard I wouldn't know that the points for BLT has gone up already. This would impact what I purchase in points. I am hoping to hear that the Guides are being honest about the changes.

Thanks again!

Yes - it is in Schaumburg, more specifically it's located inside of the Woodfield Shopping Mall off of Golf Road.

Haven't been in their yet, but drive past Woodfield everyday (twice) going to/from work and sooner or later I'm gonna cave and stop in for the DVC spiel...........

Chris

Yes, it's in Woodfield Mall, this is where we got the idea to buy resale :) We passed ROFR and are just waiting to close now!

If you have the time, plan to spend a day at the mall, it's huge! Lots to see and do.

The Dreams store is upper level next to Nordstrom.

They were exteremly friendly and our son loved staying with childcare while we stayed for an hour and chatted.

I live in a southern Chicago suburb.

I heard a rumor that they were going to (maybe) have some sort of Doorway to Dreams DVC member get-together toward the end of Februrary, or early March, but haven't heard.

When they opened (late summer 2007?) they had a killer AKV promotion, but you had to be on-site to get it. Something like double developer points and $10 off.

There is a very cool new mini-Legoland near there, too. You can get a 4-pack of tickets at Costco for $49 (at least at the Costco near Midway, where I was just shopping).

We also live in the SW suburbs and went to this location last summer to view the AKV model. We actually bought that day and they did have some great promos, but that was due to their one-year anniversary. My kids loved the play area and actually didn't want to leave!!! When we purchased there, they gave us some great parting gifts, including passes to the mini-Legoland. BTW, don't pay full price for this place and would have been mad if we had paid full-price since we were done with it in less than 2 hours.

We actually went back to the location a couple of weeks ago when we were near Woodfield. The BLT models are very nice, actually a lot nicer than I thought from looking at the pics. Since were are already members, they looked us up and we only looked at the models--no sales pitch. Good luck!

I was just going to say that it is right next to Nordstrom and that Woodfield is a huge mall so I would park on that end.

Very friendly CM's, enjoy your visit or event!!

The models really do have the true feel of Disney. I think they give the feel. I saw the change over from AKV to BLT in Dec and must say that it was amazing how they could make the change. They were busy setting up the BLT studio yet to be completed. We have toured at Disney the SSR and can tell you that we have yet to buy, but when the $''s right we will at BLT.
Good Luck and remember that if your friend lives in Chicago, this is not Chicago, this is 35 min plus outside, and if they live way south or north it will take some time. Though you are at an amazing mall. So go for it!

They had a special on-site presentation at their one year anniversary bash last August. The special incentives were nice but not as good as I heard they've had in the past.
Of course, they were good enough to get me to add-on while there!

I bought both of my contracts there and have never gone through the sales presentation at WDW. Keep in mind, all the contracts still come out of the Florida DVC admin office though (Celebration, FL to be exact). Don't recall if you can choose to have it sent directly to the store to sign rather than FedEx to your residence.

If you visit the store, hopefully you get Diane M. ~ she was fantastic!

I love Woodfield mall. I stop in the Doorway to dreams everytime I am there just to "feel" disney!! They are all great there. I had Diane C. when I bought AKV. she was absolutely fantastic. She definitly went above and beyond. I got a great bag filled with disney goodies too! the BLT models are really cool especially their kitchen/bathroom layout in the studio. It is totally different than any of the other DVC's
