Help - I need ideas for my door magnets. We will be doing a Western next spring on the Fantasy. The last two cruises were SWDAS cruises, so I did space themed and SW themed magnets. This year, no Star Wars, so I have to come up with something new.

We have 2 rooms, 3 boys (DH+2 teen DSs) in one room and 2 girls (adult sisters) in the other.

I was thinking of doing the 3 caballeros, but they aren't very popular and none of my family have even seen the movie. I'm thinking Frozen for us girls, but other than that, I'm at a loss.

So ... any ideas?

lol - I was thinking DH might make a good Captain Hook. ;)

Peter Pan might work, as there are the lost boys, too. And I have one magnet from last time of Captain Hook plotting to take over the Fantasy.

I usually do door decorations that change daily, but that's just me...crazy, I know, but my grandkids think they are fun. You might do a pirates theme, there are plenty from PoftheC to chose from. The Lion King is current, with villains and heroes, so are Aladdin and Toy Story. Check for movies they are releasing in 2020 and you might get an idea there. The last cruise (5 night out of San Diego), my son and I had staterooms directly opposite each other in front of the forward elevators. He got two posters (Jack Sparrow and Barbosa) and we put one on each door with a railing and cannon below with cannon balls being fired (he wanted to add a smoke and noise machine...cool idea, but might not be DCL approved) and holes in the opposite door. We were going to hang cannon balls from the ceiling with cotton trailing in front of the elevator doors, but didn't want to be kicked off the ship, so nixed that idea. Good luck!!

What about Peter Pan:

Husband = Peter Pan
You = Wendy
Sister = Tinkerbell
Son 1 = Captain Hook
Son 2 = Smee or Alligator

I love the Peter Pan idea - it would work perfect with pirate night, too!

An easy theme would be to make a bunch of magnets of animated movie quotes with clipart on mickey ears background... there are so many great one-liners in Disney's animated movies it would be easy to fill a door! who could resists stopping to read them all??? :-)

Toy Story is a theme that has lots of good options, especially since the 4th movie was just released in June ...

-lots of good main characters for everyone to choose from... woody, jessie, buzz, bullseye, potato head, slinkie dog, rex, lotso, etc.
-make a write-on board look like an etch-a-sketch
-glue magnets to the bottoms of dozens of small plastic toy soldier feet to add to the door
- add a bunch of cloud cut-outs to look like Andy's wallpaper at the top of the door
- a pizza planet 'box' and lots of printed aliens surrounding it
-a handmade forky, of course

Alice in Wonderland is an oldie but goodie theme with lots of ideas...

- celebrate an unbirthday cruise
- add magnets to an old deck of cards and cover the door with them
- make confusing direction signs
- 'eat me' favorite cruise food magnets for everyone in the room
- 'drink me' favorite cocktail magnets for the adults (and non-alcoholic ones for those under 21)
- also lots of characters for each family member to choose from - mad hatter, tweedle twins, king/queen, rabbits, cheshire cat, etc.

Have a great cruise!

With your grouping you could do Mickey, Donald and Goofy for they boys and Minnie and Daisy for the girls.
You could also tie the two rooms together with a Finding Nemo/Finding Dory them.

Why do the boys have to have male characters and the girls female?? I would have pitched a fit if someone said I had to have Minnie or Daisy just because I’m a cisgender female.

Let people pick their favorite character.

In fact, let “our favorite Disney characters” be the theme! That way no one is stuck with a character they don’t like either because whoever feels that genders must match or because they don’t like any of the characters in the given theme. AND it allows everyone to show their personality.

We have also tied adjoining room together with a zip line of Disney characters from door frame to door frame.

I could do 3 princesses for the boys and a couple of princes for us girls... tongue in cheek sort of.

These are all great ideas.

I agree and didn't intend to put anyone in a category without knowing their preference. Since the original poster said they were considering Anna and Elsa for their room, I assumed that was the direction they wanted to go with my suggestions.

Certainly didn't mean that you have to be a certain gender to be represented by a specific character.

Understood! :D

@dprincessmom - not seeing a difference between your post and an earlier one - and your response was courteous and elegant. Kudos. :goodvibes

And all these magnet ideas are fab! Love everyone's creativity! :thumbsup2

Our computer-talented son-in-law has also Photoshoped in the faces of his family of five (3 daughters) onto Disney princesses and a prince that we used for a Flat Stanley (great kids' book) experience when they couldn't come with us for our B2B Med./WBTA. Might work for your door, too.

Lol - I love that idea to include someone. How did the girls like that only their flat princess avatars got to go, though?

I wonder if I could slip in one or two of my Star Wars ones anyway? Hey, it's my door, after all. What about Marvel? I'm not a fan, but DH and DS are.

Pirates/Pan theme might work or just keep it simple with classic characters, for sure.

Definitely some great ideas here.

Have you seen the full door cover that looks like your stateroom door is open with the Star Wars stars inside, sitting on bed or standing looking at you? It is a real double-take.
