Door Decorating

Do guests at the resorts decorate their doors like on DCL? I haven't seen threads on here for printables like you see on the DCL forum so I'm guessing it's a no? Why is this? Thanks!

I have seen this at the Contemporary. It was for a girl's birthday. I don't know if it was against the rules or not but it was there for at least a few days. They were a couple doors down from us we had TBV room and I kept thinking what a cute idea it was.

Also on the window deorating thread, there are at least 2 pics of decorated Poly doors in the first 6 pages. YMMV.

I wonder why they don't allow it at DVC and Deluxe resorts? That's why I've always felt like we wouldn't fit in at a Deluxe or DVC.....with our tie dye shirts I can imagine we might stand out like a decorated door LOL

Because the doors are part of the theming of the resort.

Do you think so? I don't think they are any more themed than any of the other resort doors. I can understand there are regulations and standards for the Vacation Club but not so sure about standard deluxe resorts.

You don't want to increase the combustible load in the corridor if there is a fire in the corridor. Door decorations increase the combustible load in the corridor.

DVC has their rules about no decorations can be seen from the exterior of the resort. So no door decorations, no lights on the porch/balcony. They implemented this last winter prior to the holidays and sent e-mails to all members about the rule change.

At resorts like AKL, the doors are already decorated. Same with many of the othe deluxe resorts.

People like myself, who work in the industry, see the bigger picture. You hate to see a fire happen, but if it does, we want everyone to exit without panicking. Going through a sea of streamers could cause widespread panic.

Oh, I understand completely. I appreciate that the PP told me about fire loads because I never thought about it before and I learned something. But I seriously doubt that many people will decorate. I am sure if it became an issue Disney would do something about it. As it is, GS told me today it wouldn't be a problem, as long as it doesn't obstruct traffic flow, is not offensive, doesn't litter or do any damage, is completely removed, etc.
