My black wristlet arrived yesterday afternoon. I tried to upload pics to photobucket all evening and kept getting an error message. I'll keep trying.

It's adorable. I wasn't sure that I liked the black design as much as the white, but it's so much cuter in person!

I was wondering if the metal detail on the black bag is gold or silver..in some pictures it looks like it could be both

It's gold, but a VERY light gold. It still kind of looks like it could be silverish in person!!

ive been reading this thread forever, and it makes me sad, because DF ordered the large white tote for me on 12/2, and he calls every day and they tell him its still on backorder so no getting to open it christmas...but i guess the only good news is that it will be here sometime?! and it will be like getting an extra gift ahaha

I have a question for those of you who have other Dooneys, since this is my first.

I got the black tote (bought it on eBay) today and saw right away that there are some gouges in the black leather(?) placket on the front where the buckle fastens. They're definitely gouges because they're deep, but they're not discolored, so you can't really see them from a distance.

I know I'm pickier than most, but I was wondering if this is typical of Dooney bags to kind of "scuff up"? I don't know if I should contact the seller or just figure that they all might have some type of little flaws in them and just not worry about it.

Any advice is appreciated!

I have a few Dooneys and the lighter leather will patina with time and change to a darker brown. It might get slight scratches on it but it adds to the patiina and look IMO. Gouges to me are where some has almost cut the leather or scraped across it with something sharp like a zipper, etc. I don't recall my new Dooneys ever having anything like that...

I bought the black wristlet at Disney Couture in The Studios about an hour ago. I've been here since Friday and it was the first wristlet I've seen. I'm glad I saw the black first. I'd have been disappointed if I'd already bought the white.

It's $49.

Okay, let's see if this works:

Can you see the marks on the placket? Those are all actually gouges into the leather. Like I said, if this is pretty typical of these bags, I won't worry about it, and I know I tend to be overly picky about things. But honestly, if I was choosing one in person, I probably would've looked for a bag without the marks.

Did the bag come wrapped in the orignal wrapping from Dooney?

I can definitely feel the gouges with my finger .... The seller shipped it in a pretty beat-up WDW plastic bag just thrown in a box; no Dooney bag with it at all. I'm a little disappointed, but don't know if it's worth going through the hassle of trying to exchange it with this seller. I'm almost afraid she might send something I thought was worse ...

I noticed last night, my black tassel tote has marks on it similar to this. I just thought I was being extremely picky, now I wonder. I bought mine off Ebay too and the seller shipped express overnight for free. I feel awful complaining after all she did to get the bag to me so quickly though.

The nicks and scratches often occur in handbags that are out for display. People can open the buckles or compartments and scratch the leather.

The best thing that I can recommend that works for me, is to try to condition the leather to see if it will relax the leather a bit. It might help the mark less noticable.

That's a good idea. I'll give that a try.

I agree, treating it might work as well. My dog decided to dig on my leather couch to "make a bed" and treating it helped a ton. You could always contact the seller to see what your options are. I guess that is one advantage to getting it through the Merchandise line if there is a problem however my experiences with them lately have been a pain in the rear..

I made a beeline for the wristlets as soon as I spotted them; I think they had 3 other bags; the barrel bag, almost certain they had two sizes of the satchel like bag. I think Couture was fully stocked with the black/mickey bags. I saw no white bags and have not seen any white bags all week.

I recall looking at a price on a black bag at Trend D; $210.

I just got back from Hollywood Studios and decided to go into Once Upon A Time to see if by any chance they had the white tassle purse. I asked the CM do you have the Donney & Bourke purse?? she said yes, we do and walked me over to a large display of black purses..oh well, I really wanted the white purse..she said for some reason we have..and ta da..this last one here. YEAH !!! she didn't know why they had that one left and it was perfect..no disney land on it and tinkerbell and the castle were center stage..I had to call my husband to ask of course..and to my shock he said YES go ahead and get it...YEAH..I got pixie dust today..
