Dooney & Bourke Disney collaboration ~ part 4

No worries. You didn't even say anything bad, but I immediately went into "mother-bear" mode and had to protect my young! I guess I'm a little sensitive because I brought up the idea of going without her on another thread and yikes the comments I received. Both for and against it. But some people sure know how to hide behide a computer screen and don't care what they say. Guess I need to stick to the Dooney thread and the Chamilia/jewelry thread.

I will definitely keep you posted. Especially if that red trim satchel becomes available. I can't remember, are you from the southern part of the state? My oldest daughter lives in Racine and teaches in Kenosha. Can't remember if you're from that area or if I have you confused with someone else.

Yes, I am in Kenosha, but go up to Milwaukee a fair amount. My husband works at Marquette.

Okay, the comic satchel with the red trim, is it my understanding that no one has seen this at WDW? Do we know anything about the dimensions? Someone was selling it on ebay and if I measured it up correctly, it appears to be about the same size as the 40th anniversary bucket. Does that make sense?

Slightly off topic, but we have been blessed to be able to go to WDW every year for the past several years. DD who is a senior this year doesn't want to go this winter. That's fine. I've come to terms with it. Going without her isn't an option for me. Sadly, as much as I adore WDW and leaving the Wisconsin winter behind for a week, I think the thing I'm going to miss most is the shopping!!! It's killing me to know I won't be able to go and stock up on favorite snacks, a few new t-shirts, maybe some knick-knacks, and of course, a Disney Dooney. Disneystore.com doesn't have the same stuff and ordering directly from Disney, assuming I would know exactly what I want, is so expensive. I don't understand why it has to be so expensive for the shipping. And why they won't accept reward points or even the Disney VISA discount. There are a few things I'd like to even order for DD for Christmas, but I just don't know if it's worth it to pay that much for shipping. I see there's a Disney personal shopper on facebook, but it looks like she charges a 20% service fee. Guess I'd have to figure out if that's cheaper than Disney shipping.

Sorry. Had to get that off my chest.

I just need to chime in here. My DS is a little bit older than your DD, but we went through the same thing. He decided Jr year that he was going to stay home and we went without him. The next year, he did not want to be left behind so he went with us for a long weekend and then flew home alone so that he would not miss so much school senior year.

It's hard because they want their independence and they want to be "grown up" and on their own at the same time.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I can relate.

The good news is that I have convinced him to go with us to Disneyland this spring for the whole week! :)

I just had to post this, though completely off thread. For those on the east coast who had your noreaster, this is old. Here in Wisconsin we are having our first snow fall. It was just so pretty to look out and see the pretty scene. I love snow if it has to be cold. Alright, enough of that. Just wanted to share my excitement with my Dooney friends:cool1: Now to dig out my snowmen and decorate the house for winter.:)

Ha, I was so happy it skirted by us and hit you!! LOL, sorry, but it does seem like you are happy too.

Yes, I am happy. I was depressed yesterday when I saw the forecast and my little area in southeast wi wasn't getting it, so I am glad it made both of us happy by changing course. It must have been pixie dust to change it:lmao:

Isn't it nice that we can both be happy from the same storm?:rotfl2:

This is slightly off topic. I'm ebaying stuff to save up for the new comics satchel and just realized that they now charge you a fee on your shipping price too! As if shipping isn't expensive enough, now there's no way not to lose money on shipping.

Ok, rant over, back on topic. I've made almost enough for my bag! If not for the fees I'd be there:mad:. Oh well...

Just like how different Disney Dooneys have perfect placement for different people :dance3: And different Disney resorts appeal to different people :cloud9:

I just started ebaying again too, after a few years. I couldn't believe that about the shipping thing. The fees are crazy now!

I ordered the Medium Sketch Tote well there was the 25% off the theme park merchandise. I just got it in the mail today and am really happy about the placement!:yay: So I thought I would post pictures for all of you to see:

So here is the front:

And here is the back:

Everybody else may not like the placement but I love it. I got at least 1 full Tinkerbelle which is the main thing I wanted and at least 1 of everything(I think)!

And in 35 days I will be taking it to WDW for the first time!:dance3:

I also posted this on facebook, but the more I think about it, the more sad I am so I thought I would post here too:
Okay, I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone here. When I got home tonight I noticed that the little leather strap with the lobster key clasp inside my 40th messenger detached from the lining of the bag. I'm not overly concerned since I have never used it, but it was upsetting that it would just break off. It looks like it was just glued in since there is a residue inside the bag and on the strap itself. Part of me wants to send it off to Dooney and Bourke to be fixed, but I am very afraid it could end up being replaced and I am quite attached to my placement. Not sure what to do...:guilty:

They started that a couple of months back because of people who would sell for low but charge really high shipping fees. Back in the summer someone was selling a wristlet for 19.99 but charging 79.00 to ship. It sold, too.. Anyway it is the all to common, punish everyone for the few who take advantage. You are right, we always lose on shipping. No matter what I charge for shipping, even when it did not cover the full price someone gives me less than a 5 on my shipping fees. The percentage on the shipping fee is less than for the item, but eBay and paypal (which is owned by eBay) is making alot of money. Okay, enough rant on that. I am sending you pixie dust to soon make enough for the comic satchel. I am also sending you pixie dust that they restock before you go:wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:Lots of pixie dust.

I actually cut that thing out of both Disney Dooney's that I own. I left it in when I first got it but I did not use it and it kept getting tangled up with things I had in the bag.

I have the medium sketch with me at work right now and I just checked it and it looks like it is stitched in. Did the stitching open where the leather strap came out? If you never used it and will not miss it I would just keep the bag as long as you like the placement.

For those interested. I was on the phone today with mail order Disney and they told me the red comic barrel purse is in the warehouse and that I could have ordered it if I had wanted that one. I was looking for something else, which she couldn't find, but she herself kept saying I like the comic one and the $180 one is in the warehouse. I would have ordered it but the barrell purse is too small for me and I really want one with the Princess Minnie on it!!:)

Did you guys see the medium sketch tote on ebay for $499.99? The seller is claiming that it is a very rare cruise bag. Sorry, but I don't know how to post a link. I also see they are selling a real sketch cruise bag for the same price.

I really hope no one falls for this. Yikes!
