Dooney & Bourke Disney collaboration ~ part 4

I think 4 Dis-ers got it, or at least posted about it on the big thread, so that's something! I'm sorry you ladies missed out! (Of course an eBay shop says they have 4 and are selling them for $700 a pop. I can get being tempted by 1. But 4, REALLY?)

I have some newbie questions for you all! So I lucked out and got the HM bag last night and the cosmetics case (it was only $25 instead of the normal $35!) but it's my first Dooney!
So I have a million questions! Would some of you mind giving me your experiences, or linking me to where I could find this info:

-What exactly are they made of? Is it really leather? That bag is more than a week's paycheck (college student!) so I'm curious what makes them so expensive!

-How do they hold up in general? This is my first *real* purse in 6 years- my last one was beautiful but literally on it's last thread, which is why I was able to justify this one. Can I get another 6 years out of this puppy?

-Big Question: HOW DO THEY HOLD UP AT THE PARKS? I'm usually very specific about my park bags because of the rain/my Chicagoan ability to ride splash mountain 8 times in a row during EMH and not be cold. I'm afraid to put it on the floor of rides but usually I put it on the floor and put my foot through the straps. Will it hold up to the likes of RNR? I'm also absolutely terrified of it being stolen, and although I'll bring to MK on my 21st I'm not sure if I want to risk it getting hurt/stolen?

-Care/Cleaning: Where can I find the best information to care and clean for this bag? I have a feeling being the klutz I am there's no way this puppy's gonna stay in mint, but I'd like to keep it nice!

- (Last one!) What was your first Disney Dooney/Your favorite Disney Dooney? How and when did you get it?

the local Ebayers haunt DTD and probably scooped up the 2 HM smith bags that WOD had yesterday. I think the blog indicated that the bags were coming out again in August. I have the bag with the red that came out last year but haven't used it. I would prefer the purple lining and hope that they are coming out with a different size in this design...

hi everyone, been away from this board for a while. just noticed new dooneys on ds. they have the downtown bags and bows wallets. just thought i'd post in case anyone was looking. i was thinking about a bows wallet and maybe a downtown letter carrier. which color does everyone prefer in each of these? also, will the bows wallet fit in this size letter carrier? just wondering

Saw the new Dooney's too...very tempting to order more than one ! I thought the pink Downtown was originally only going to be available in the parks and the red on-line. Since I will be at DL in a couple weeks I am wondering if I should wait and get the red downtown print at the park and get my DVC discount....decisions...decisions !,

i ordered the pink letter carrier but depending upon availability it might be nice for you to be able to find one with great pattern placement in the park. i have no idea how well stocked they are. maybe someone can chime in on that. i hope mine has decent placement. it's always a gamble, lol. which style were you thinking about getting?

I am a big purse gal so I will go for the tote....although I do like a cross body for the parks....I've always been pretty pleased with Dooney's placement vs vera as I have found I really have to go through a lot of beverages bags to find the placement I like.

Can someone help me or give me information? I am trying to rejoin the Disney Dooney and Bourke Facebook Group and am unable to do so. I have been sending requests continually since I left the group when I got a new Facebook. I was a part of the group for over a year before leaving and I miss seeing information, pictures, and Disney Dooney's in general in my Newsfeed. Any ideas on why I cannot rejoin? Has anyone been able to join lately?

I'm not sure why it's not letting you join. I know that about a week ago, they asked if anyone else wanted to serve as an admin for the group, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Thank you for your reply! Maybe they are just in a transitional period. You have given me hope, lol! I am sure they get a ton of requests and decline most randomly to keep the group stable and of substance. I will keep trying! I am hoping one of the admins will see this and explain why some people are not accepted anymore. I remember the first time I joined I was accepted almost instantly but that was over a year ago so I suppose things have changed and new admins are in place. *Sighs* LOL.

I would say yes...weekender mostly a big carryon bag or gym tote. I find when the Dooney's are listed as totes that is perfect for this big bag gal !

Every so often you can get a discount on a Dooney bag but haven't seen one in awhile. Shipping is free on the website if you use the code "ship magic" at checkout (they are also good about letting you know,there is free shipping). If you are. DVC member or have an AP then there is not a place to use that discount on the website. If you have the Disney visa and you are using it to make a purchase there is a discount.

Thanks so much for writing! I'm happy I can get free shipping, because the fee was something around $40!!! Crazy! I can use my DVC for 10% which is great. I'm torn between the large tote and large shopper. I really wanted a crossbody, but i'm afraid it will be way too small. I wanted to downsize (from a huge diaper bag that i'm finally done with!!) but i'm afraid a crossbody won't hold little extras that I might still need.

If anyone has pics. of any of these purses for comparison, I'd appreciate it if you'd share them! Sometimes a store picture cannot do sizes justice. Thank you so much!!!!
