Dooney & Bourke Disney collaboration ~ part 3

Interesting... the salesclerk at the D&B outlet near me said they rarely if ever get anything from co-branded lines in because the other company holds exclusive marketing rights.

When they cleared out the blue Mickey and pink Minnie bags, didn't they show up at the Disney outlets, not the D&B outlets?

Obviously Disney gave permission for the D&B outlets to carry the bags, but it kind of makes me wonder why. Do you think this adds validation to the rumor that the collaboration is ending, or am I reading too much into it?


FWIW, on our last DCL cruise they ran a 30% off special on the wonder pattern, although they called it the neon pattern (black background, multi color Mickey sihouettes). They completely sold out of wristlets but still had all the larger handbags available. That was actually almost as good as 40% for me since it's duty free onboard and I have to pay crazy high sales tax.

The fact that they are allowing Dooney & Bourke to carry them at their outlet tells me there are a LOT of them left. It gives me hope for another price break at Disneystore.com (where they will ship them to us).

It's definitely true that the pink Minnie bags were at the Disney outlet when they were cleared out, not the D&B outlet. Not sure if the blue Mickey face bags were ever at any outlet.

This is a very interesting development - wonder if the Disney bags will only be sold at the Orlando D&B outlets, or if they'll be available anywhere else in the country. If anyone sees any Disney Dooneys at any outlets outside Florida, please post!

Is the Dooney/Disney partnership really coming to an end? I can't find where I read it, but I think it was somewhere in this thread. I've just begun my collection, so I hope not! In about 10 days time I've done some damage :lol:

I have a 40th anniversary bag on its way to me as well. It's definitely a great start, but I wouldn't mind a wristlet in the black balloon print some day.

Anyway, regarding their parntership...I found this via google, but it's a little over a year old:

In the future, Ray plans to work with Disney to debut designs with additional characters.
“We have several new collections in the works,” he said. “There will be something new this summer and in fall 2010, there will be a completely new revamp of the line. We’re interested in some of Disney’s darker villain characters. We’d love to see something with an edge.”

I really hope they continue collaborating, or if a contract is up I hope they negotiate another....these bags are fantastic!

so i got in my second crossbody bag in. I am keeping one and my mom is going to take the other. btw- i looked online today, it says these are sold out again!

I am a big fan of seeing the "Walt Disney World", anything mickey and anything with MK, Epcot or 1971.

My mom is a huge minnie fan. She said she would take whichever purse I didn't want as far as placement.

So help me choose!! i am leaning towards this one, but I hate the big map on the bag (and front). but i love the WDW placement on the back and the watch/clock too. I like the mickey ears too. i worked at DHS on my college program and this has a HS badge. so i am thinking this is the one. but still wanted your opinions!!!

here is the original one- that i think my mom would like anyhow since it has minnie on it. however i LOVE the 71 badge and MK badge on the front- the back, ugh, not that great.

SO WHICH WOULD YOU TAKE?

I started out at Epcot this morning, and now I just got back home to NH. It's been a very long day!

Just a quick update for tonight. Tomorrow I'll post some pictures of my new bags!

I had ordered the pop princess tote with the idea that I would exchange it when I got to the parks if I didn't like the placement, but I did not see a single princess bag all week, in any of the styles. Luckly, the bag that I got from Disney Shopping has a nice placement, if not exactly what I was hoping for. I'm not sure if I am going to keep it or e-bay it yet though. I did get a great price on it with the code a few weeks back.

I was surprized at the lack of selection at all the stores at WDW. I expected to see lots of bags, expecially the 40th anniversary ones. For those that were asking, I saw the wallet, but only at WOD at DTD.

I went to WOD on one of our last days hoping to find a 40th messenger. I told myself that I would only buy one if it was a perfect placement for me. I was pretty disapointed when I got there and there were only about 5 on the shelf. But the last one she pulled down for me was perfect! Then, when she rung me out, the bag was $265 unstead of the $255 on the tag. I asked about in and they adjusted it for me, but the rest of the bags were tagged at the $265, so the price must have gone up.

I'm off to bed... I'll upload some pics tomorrow night after I catch up on all the work I missed in the last 10 days.

I MUST HAVE THIS...I was just thinking how cute it would be for D&B to do a minnie themed bag with bows or red and white polka dots! I will deff. be buying one of these to add to my collection!
