Dooney & Bourke Disney collaboration ~ part 3

Wow, what a coincidence. I am will be 40 yrs old this October and also celebrating my 20th anniversary this June. I told DH I already knew what I wanted for Valentine's Day. Cash for my (hopefully) October birthday trip to get my 40th disney dooney. Of course, if I get , and someone is willing to buy me one when they go that would be awesome

That's funny because I'm the reverse - turning 40 in June and our anniversary is Nov. 2 which is close enough to October!

Ahh! It's dooney madness!! So remember I posted those two Lucy bags the other day but neither of them were really great? So I held on to the better of the two and ordered a third to see if I would get a better one. In the meantime, I decided that I actually want the Kristen 40th anniversary tote...just made up my mind last night.

So what arrives in the mail today but the third Lucy. Might as well take a look at it...and what do you know...it's freaking perfect!! I was so pissed! I was seriously cursing at it!!

So after much inner turmoil, I decided that I'm going to keep it AND get the 40th anniversary tote too!! The Lucy is really a lot smaller than I'm used to and am afraid that all my "junk" won't fit but my mom said this can be my Spring/Summer bag, when I don't have to throw my gloves and scarf in the bag and the 40th can be my next winter bag!!

In case anyone is interested in some perspective for the Lucy, here is the bag on my shoulder.

Question - I am new to this - why would you need to order three of the same bag? How are they different? Do you mean the pattern is in different spots - hard to explain - but what I think that means? If that's the case - I'm wondering if I should wait to buy the 40th anniversary bag in August when we go to WDW for our trip....I'm assuming it will be available online before than - but wondering if I should pick it out in person?? Hmmm....

I know, right?! I was totally set on NOT getting the Lucy after I saw the new Kristen but the pattern on this third one is just absolutely perfect! I used it for the first time today and all my disney-loving colleagues were sooo jealous!

I'm definitely leaning toward the 40th anniversary Kristen too (in addition to my Lucy!) and am not sure yet when to get it. The "sketch" pattern that is on the Lucy is very spread out and for such a small bag, placement is pretty important, as you can tell from the major difference between the first two bags and the third, awesome bag! From the looks of the 40th anniversary pattern on the Kristen, it seems like it will all be good because there is soooo much going on and the bag is so big. So I would trust ordering that bag blindly, more than I would a sketch. Does that make sense?

I haven't seen the new WDW bags in person yet, but I've logged a fair amount of time shopping the DL55 bags.

IMO the smaller the bag, the more important placement becomes. I've seen letter carriers, wristlets, and wallets I didn't like AT ALL, just because of placement issues. But unless there's a specific image you have to have, or one that you really want centered, you're fairly safe buying the larger bags (like the Kristin) online.

Picking out your own bag in person can be fun though.

That's totally true about placement being more important on the smaller bags. I went through an entire basket of wristlets at the MK shop last year, the version 2 sketches, and found one - only - that I liked (and bought). That pattern was particularly tough for wristlets though, others got better. It is so much fun to pick your own bag!

Ok, just heard from my mom! She said when you call, ask if there are any special shipping deals like they have on the website because they will honor those. For two of them, she got free shipping and the other it was $5.00. If not for the codes, it would have been $23 (she thinks!) and there was $13.23 tax.

Oh, my gosh, I absolutely love the placement on this third bag Talk about the third time being the charm Thanks so much for the pictures of it on your shoulder as it is actually bigger than I thought For some reason, I was picturing it thinner more like a letter carrier I hope they are selling these bags when we go the end of April so I can see them in person I so can't wait to see the 40th anniversary pattern in person also I plan on using my Disney Visa reward dollars on Dooney's

News about the Kristen being available on disneystore.com. My mom (she's the best, btw!) has been calling about this bag and finally she got someone today who said they ordered some and they should be available soon. But here is the kicker! Remember when they told her they only ordered 200 of the Lucy? You thought that was bad? Guess how many Kristen's they ordered......

I hope the CM who said they only ordered 12 Kristens is mistaken. It doesn't even make sense to me that a retailer would waste their time offering something online with such ridiculously limited quantity.

Well even my mother, who is not a collector of anything, was like, that is not nearly enough for the amount of people who want these bags!! His response was that they don't like to order too many in case they don't sell. They clearly aren't reading these boards!

If he was right about that number, I'm sure they will sell out of those 12 rather quickly and they will order more.

Thank you so much, i saw somewhere that shipping was like $50 and was really hoping that was wrong. I think i might have to do what you did and order multiple bags and just ship back the ones i dont really care for.
