Dooney and Bourke Bags

I always buy in the parks or at the Vault, so that I can look them over and find a pattern that makes me really happy.

I seem to be getting a little obsessed with my Disney Dooneys. 3 purses, 3 wristlets, and the medium sketch tote. Oh and the little make up bag that was the gift for spending a certain amount on the Disneyland's 55th birthday at the Vault. And I am supposedly a Coach girl.

I like the Vault best for the selection. I always look them over and find the best features. My sketch tote has Mickey and Minnie centered and looking at each other on the front, and then a great Tink and Castle on the back. Those are the sorts of things I look at with mine.

You will find them everywhere though. They are in 2 stores on Main Street (almost across from one another), WoD, Greetings from CA. And I think maybe even the hotels??? They were in Orlando.

FWIW, D Street told me they are no longer carrying the D&B product line and sent me over to Vault 28.

Looks like you've already been pointed to the Disney store site where most prices are listed. The DL 55 bags aren't available there though, so here are the prices for those:

The Vault is my favorite place to shop for Dooney's too, so I was a bit surprised to see folks recommend not shopping there. I'm all about the best pattern placement possible though, and I admit sometimes I'm not even sure what that is, so personally I like taking all the time I need to compare bags at the Vault.

I haven't had the best of luck finding understanding CM's at WoD though. I've never had anyone offer me more than 2 or 3 choices, and then they want me to make a quick decision, plus what do you do if you're shopping for a messenger bag? Since you can't take it out of the packaging, you can't see what's under the flap, that's huge for me.

I live close enough to the parks that I can shop in person pretty easily, but I still stalk e-bay for Disney Dooney deals.
I would have no problem buying a Disney Dooney from e-bay as long as I took the general precautions I take when buying anything from e-bay.
In the spirit of full disclosure: I've listed handbags on e-bay when I've ended up with extras. Mine were authentic, new with all tags still attached, and I sold them at cost, so I know there are good deals to be had.

I've seen some great pattern placements and prices on e-bay. In fact I suspect at least one seller is a CM since his/her prices make no sense otherwise. Maybe once the additional Christmas discount kicks in, their prices will get even better. I know I'll be watching and hoping.

That depends on what you're looking for. The absolute hardest thing to find is the DL 55 letter carrier. As far as I know it hasn't been in stock for more than a few days at a time since it was released. Several CM's have told me they think it will be a limited edition/run, although I don't think that's ever been officially announced. So whether supply on that one will get better or not is anyone's guess.

Depending on what color you want, stock of the colored letter carriers has been a bit hit and miss too, but I think that's just more of a timing issue.

Those little wristlets actually hold a lot.
I have quite the collection of Coach wristlets, they're a weakness of mine.
But I may have to add more Dooney flap style wristlets to my collection too.

I would never discount the problem of fakes and knock-offs, I know it's a huge issue for designers. But as much as we all love the Disney Dooney bags, I doubt that it's really a large enough market niche for counterfitters to expend much energy on. They prefer to focus on a broader consumer base. Plus specialty prints are much more difficult to obtain and/or produce than are solids.

It may be naive on my part, but I seriously doubt that there are fakes in the Disney print floating around; and personally I think if a knock-off print could be produced at all, it would probably be pretty easy to spot. JMO though.

Now buying from a seller who buries the fact that they use stock photo's, or doesn't disclose possible odors, or misrepresents the condition of the bag, or sends a different bag than the one pictured... all legitimate concerns IMO. But for now I'd put money on the fact that any Disney Dooney purchased on e-bay is authentic. Now if sellers from known counterfitting countries start popping up with tons of available Disney D&B handbags at low prices... all bets are off.

I'd love to get a straight answer on whether the DL 55 print is limited edition (I doubt it, despite some e-bay claims to the contrary), or limited run (seems plausible to me, since it was released to celebrate the 55th anniversary), or if they'll keep producing it as long as there is interest; but I've decided it's not that the CM's are holding out, I really don't think they know.

But I keep thinking someone at Disney, or D&B, or both, will realize how popular the DL 55 letter carrier is and huge shipments will start rolling in. Hasn't happened yet, but maybe it's already in the works, and they need time to ramp up production. Could be that LC's will be plentiful by Thanksgiving and Christmas. See, I'm thinking positive so you'll have more to use that great AP discount on.

what size is the letter carrier? I was tempted by the wristlet..which is odd because I am CHEAP, but I don't like the idea of having to worry about something dangling from my wrist all day..I like to have a VERY small bag with neck straps.
