the kids tell you...I'm bored??

My kids each have their own rooms, full of toys, plus a family room full of toys they had to have! They have game boys, a playstation,etc., not to mention each other! Plus, they have whole yard/neighborhood full of kids to play with!

Today is a beautiful day, how can they be bored??

what kills me is the countdown till summer vacation-then by the 3rd day it's "i'm bored when does school start again?" thank goodness dd is going for 2 weeks to sleepaway camp this year (now if i could just sneak ds into her suitcase )

When mine were young I banned that word from our house! If they slipped and said it then I gave them a job to do. Didn't take more than twice and the word was not spoken again.

Doesn't fly in my house. My kids know that the minute they say they're bored, I'll be there with a job for them to do. I'm hoping one of them pulls it this weekend because the flowerbed needs weeding.

I agree with Sue1013 and Brianne - that word was pretty much banned at our house, given all of the opportunities our kids had. I also gave out chores when they said it, and that nipped it in the bud pretty quick!!

What bugs me is when DD says she's bored and I start giving her suggestions of things to do she keeps saying 'I don't want to do that' to everything. I end up telling her I am not her social director and she needs to find something to do instead of bothering me unless you wants to help clean. Amazingly she quickly finds something else to do.

I hate to say it, but I have a house full of my own toys, a full tank of gas, and money in my pocket and I'm bored!

It happens. Sometimes you just need a change of pace. Something different from the same old, same old. Though I can imagine it gets aggrivating to hear over and over.

It cost you $$$ in our house. Usually 50 cents, that goes into the Disney change bank.

I also can find things for them to do. Amazing how they become "un"bored.

I tell them "Only boring people are bored." Actually, they know "bored" is verboten in our house so we rarely hear it.
I remember when my mom used to respond to my whines about being bored with "Clean your room if you're bored!" I didn't say that too often, either...

When we were growing up my mom used to lock us out of the house. If it was nice outside and we were on Spring/Summer break, we played outside. Of course we lived on an old farm so there was plenty to do. But we became very creative in how we played.

I always told my kids -- "Bright people don't get bored. They get a book." It was reading or chores. Both DD17 and DS12 are voracious readers, so I guess it worked!

I wasn't allowed to say "I'm bored" when I was a child. When I did, my mother found something for me to do, if you know what I mean.
