I'm going to disney with my family boys 10 and 11 in april and we are all set on getting from the airport to all star sports .I would love to have a map or a series of maps to study about getting around in the parks . I have been reading about boats ,monrail buses and so on but like to be prepared when We get there so we don't waste time learning the way around. We are going to be there 10 days but might go to universal for a couple that is another story should we go there or just relax for a couple days. thanks in advance

get birnbaums walt disney world 2005, it has themepark maps inside & always helps with my plans (i've gone over 18 times). the book lists all attractions with descriptions, restaurant info with general menu offerings & prices, recreational activities, and phone numbers to book such.

fyi - from the allstar sports there is only bus transportation. however, when park or resort hopping you can take buses (all resorts/themeparks), boats (some resorts/magic kingdom, epcot, mgm) & the monorail (some resorts/magic kingdom/epcot)

have a great wdw trip!

When I was planning my trip for this past January I bought the Unofficial Guide, the PassPorter, Birnbaums, and Birnbaums for Kids. Personally I think the Unoffical Guide is bar far the best with the PassPorter coming in second. With the Unofficial Guide be prepared for ALOT of reading, but the information is great. Because of its size and the pockets in the back the PassPorter is the one I carried with me on the trip. Both the UG and PassPorter have touring plans as well as excellent maps of each park. They both rate every hotel, restaurant, park, and ride. For me, Birbaum's was too sugar coated and superficial.

I'm planning a solo trip for May and find myself picking up the Unofficial Guide and the PassPorter repeatedly. I gave the Birnbaum's to my D-I-L.

Make sure you have your Priority Seatings at the 90 day mark and have some kind of itinerary written out. You won't see it all, so don't even try. Just have a list of must do's. Relax and have fun!!!!

Thanks for your time I will get the guide and read up .
What is the priority seating thing ?

Virtually every table service restaurant in WDW allows advance seating arrangements known as priority seating or 'PS'. These are not reservations, but they give you first available table upon arrival at your specified times. PS can be made in advance of your arrival by calling 407-939-3463. Go to http://pscalculator.net for more priority seating details. You will receive confirmation numbers for every PS you make--be sure to carry the number to the parks (or resort) with you. If you decide not to keep your PS it's not a big deal and doesn't cost you anything (except if you don't give 48 hour notice at Cinderella's Breakfast or the Fantasmic Pkg). If you plan on eating only counter service it won't matter, but for any sit down meals I would make PS or else you may find yourself wandering around with hungry kids looking for a place to eat and looking at VERY LONG waits.

Since you are going at a busy time I would definitley make PS for any character meals you might want to do and I'd do the Fantasmic Pkg. For the Fantasmic Pkg you get a meal at Hollywood & Vine, Brown Derby, or Mama Melrose's plus guaranteed seats in the reserved section at the Fantasmic show (no waiting 90 minutes in those long lines), for the price of the meal alone. Adults are $19.99-$36.00 and kids are $9.99. The adult price depends on which restaraunt you choose.

Of all the guidebooks... I have a few of them..... I would say the maps of the parks are the best in the Passporter. I love those maps.
Are you looking for maps of the roads and things like that?
