Don't want an upgrade!

I've seen some threads and pics lately-----where people are announcing that due to low attendance, they are getting upgrades in seating at the Hoop De Doo Review! I even saw a pic where NOBODY was seated upstairs. . .

I have been tossing around the idea of booking the dinner show for our upcoming trip (I've never been to HDDR---but remember the Diamond Horseshoe Review in the MK many, many, many years ago----a similar-type act).

My husband and I aren't big on being the center of attention---or being singled out in a crowd. That said, I'd feel most comfortable booking a Category 3. Bizarre as it may sound to most, I haven't booked the ADR 'cause I wouldn't want them to move us down to the floor level!? I'm nuts, right?

I keep checking the reservation availability hoping they'll sell out Cat 1 or even the 2s. . .but all are still available. . .

HA! I'm trying to drum up some business for October 31st--5:00! Come on people, fill those seats! . . .so we can rest easy from up above! :)

I'm booked for 9/30 & I feel the same way. Leave me in the balcony & I'll be happy as can be. :thumbsup2

Why would you want to be the only folks in the balcony? And why would Disney allow this? They wouldn't. The always move everyone up to tables closer to the stage. It fits with the intimacy of the show and with servers being utilized in the best way. And if you were alone in your Cat, imagine the attention that would get you. They don't 'leave folks alone' in Cat 3 as it is, but if only 1 group was up there, why you could end up stars of the show.

If you are planning on attending the first show of the night, then I really wouldn't be too concerned about being moved to the main floor. You certainly wouldn't be moved up to Cat. 1. This is the most 'in demand' show of the 3 nightly shows.

If by some chance you are seated on the main floor, but don't choose to interact with the performers, then just don't make eye contact with them or just shake your head quietly if they try. They will not deliberately choose a person who does not want to partake of the fun. Relax.

I have been upgraded at HDDR before and didn't like it. I personally find that Cat. 3 seats are more enjoyable than Cat. 2, but I understand that they do it more for the staffing. This happens more at the late show than the earlier 2 shows (not a lot of people want a 9:30 dinner show, but that may change with the new time structure). With that being said, when there are people up in the balcony, the actors do make their way up there. They don't really do anything to make someone the "center of attention" or anything like that. The un-voulenteered individual interaction lasts nano-seconds. Just sit back, have some wine/beer/sangria and enjoy the show.

My family is the same way. I love HDDR, but I am always worried that I will have to be the center of attention. I wish they had something to set on the tables for the people who would prefer to just watch the show, but not be a part of it. Just something to let the performers know that those certain tables would prefer to just watch. I'm sure there would always be plenty of people that would love to be the center of attention, so I doubt it would affect the show much at all.

As I said in an earlier post, it really isn't a big deal. The performers know what they're doing. They can 'read' their audience and 9 times out of 10 will know if someone doesn't want to play along. They aren't going to deliberately set out to embarass someone who is shy or introverted. That would be very unprofessional of them. If by some chance a performer makes their way to your table, just quietly make eye contact with them and shake your head. They will see this and pick someone else to play with.
