Our local library has an online subscription to Ancestry.com so I went down there today to check it out. There are so many relatives who's names I either never knew or have forgotten. Well it dawned on me that my last elderly relative, a cousin, would be the only person who could help me out. I spoke with her just before we moved to Florida and I was going to go see her but...
So I called her number tonight and it was not connected. After doing a search I found some neighbor's phone numbers and called one. A miserable woman yelled at me, she's dead! and hung up the phone.
I tried another neighbor and got a nice one this time. She told me that my cousin who I always called my aunt Betty had been failing for the past year. Then she fell and went into a nursing home. She passed away 2 months ago.
So don't wait! If there is an elderly person you want to talk to, just do it. Aunt Betty was the last person in my family who might have been able to answer some questions about names and locations. I wish I hadn't waited.
