Don't touch that! I need a picture first! TR - **NEW 04/17 PTR IS UP

Duty tax stinks.

he he he

:rotfl2:

another question comes to mind.

so you pay the tax in the USA to buy the stuff then they charge you a tax to take it over. that just stinks.

what do you get taxed on your purchases up there?

Well, we get taxed on almost everything over here. Even most of our food! In Ontario, our tax is 13%. :scared1:

One thing we like about shopping across the border is that the tax is SO LOW. So our overall purchase cost is not that high. I think they charge us that tax when we come back to make up for the lack of tax we were taxed when we bought the stuff in the States.

Boy, thinking of all this sure is taxing on my brain.

Well, I think it came up after the DC Meet when Glenn (glennbo123) took a picture with me and Bubba. We both had our thumbs up in the picture. Since we were both Canadian and we both had our thumbs up, it became the staple "Canadian thumbs up".

Oh ok:goodvibes. I saw that over on his TR (I've been lurking:blush: and you have such an adorable family Glen:goodvibes), it looked like a really fun dismeet. And now I know the story behind the Canadian thumbs up!:thumbsup2 Quick question, can Americans do that too or is it purely a Canadian thing?

And I agree with the others...duty tax? So stupid, no wonder you were trying to smuggle stuff in! If that were me, I'd be wearing all those clothes, have my new purse with all my stuff inside and be putting on the lotion (was it lotion in the pic?) while pulling up to the border! I'd be all "yup, this is my stuff from Canada, eh?":thumbsup2

Aha! Caught you! I thought someone was lurking.

Oh okay. All is forgiven! Flattery will get you everywhere. :goodvibes

Quick question, can Americans do that too or is it purely a Canadian thing?

I think you can, but you have to label it as "the Canadian thumbs-up" with a tip of the hat to our northern neighbors. :rotfl2:

Darn, I've been caught! I have been following it along for oh, about 3 months now! I feel rather foolish for not coming out of lurkdom on your TR and doing it here?:confused3 Maybe I was thinking you wouldn't read this...:rolleyes1 You really do have a sweet little family. And your pics are fabulous! I guess I'll have to properly de-lurk over on yours though!:goodvibes

So that's the proper way to give the thumbs up then? Duly noted:thumbsup2! Does that mean when I'm at Disney soon that anyone I see doing that is from Canada?

Only if they look as goofy as me! :rotfl:

One thing I forgot to mention in my update was somewhere in conversation during our meet, we all thought a good spot for the next DIS meet would be in Pennsylvania. From what I gather, there's quite a few of you there or near there. Maybe a summer time get together is in order? I vote Glenn to be our tour guide this time :teeth:

I loved following the crazy exploits of the trimumphant trio!! You got some pretty schnazzy looking things , and all for the very low price of standing in the cold just because you want to go HOME!! I mean you look so utterly dangerous and all that!! :lmao: Puh-leeeeeze!

You guys rock!!!!!! Have had a good giggle reading this! Is there more to come i want to read about mnsshp! :)
My trip is 24th oct this year and it's giving me a good idea what to expect

I know! It was definitely worth it ($7 corduroys!!) but still hate the guards. Maybe next time we'll cross at a different bridge. I hear that guards are less intimidating at the other bridges.

I thought that was the correct way to sound Canadian, eh! And now I know to give a goofy thumbs up too. People will be stopping me at Epcot, in the Canadian Pavillion, asking me what part of Cananda I'm from, right?

:lmao:Looks like you're not letting him off the hook THAT easy Jen!

That's right! Hmmm maybe I should start classes on how to give a Canadian thumbs up! :lmao:

Not a chance!!!!

Hey I noticed in your siggie, you're leaving for WDW in 11 days?! Do you have a PTR going and I've just been missing out on it?

I'll try to remember the thumbs up criteria in case I can't make it to one of your classes! Wait, I know! I'll take a pic of myself at the Canadian Pavillion giving the official Jen thumbs up!:thumbsup2 Then you can critique it for me!

Nope, no PTR, I'm not that cool.;) I'm thinking of doing a TR though when I get back. From what I hear about Marv, I can basically write only 1 update a month and people will still come to read!

Awww you're still cool if you don't do one :cool2: We are always here to read! You'll get people bugging you to update but you can bet everyone will jump on it once you update. I hope you write one!!! At least you can be confident you'll have one subscriber

Jen! I lost your TR somehow! But don't worry, I found it. Fun DISmeet! I wish all you peeps lived near me - why doesn't anybody ever want to meet in St.Louis?:confused3

I'm all about meeting people no matter where it is! It just so happens that PA seemed like a good spot since lots of people are around there. I would be all for a meet in St Louis one day :thumbsup2 Just call me the avid Canadian traveller.

Well thanks!:goodvibes It would be nice to know I'd have 1 reader! Hmmm, peoplewill bug you to update? Nah, I've never done that on anyone's TR...:rolleyes1

Yeah, I keep forgetting to bring up the possible PA meet! I second the vote for Glenn to be our guide!
