Don't sleep, just lie down...

We do this. We go back to the room. Dim the lights and say " rest break". Usually my DD fell asleep. As all of us were on the beds she didn't feel singled out. We set a timer of 1-2 hours depending on our needs. We plan on doing this again in June.

This is a good tip expecially for tweens. They don't want to be considered as little kids, but if the nap is also for adults (or at least they think so) they are more likely to accept it.

We have done this since the very first trip so my kids grew up doing this. I guess I'm just lucky as its always worked for our family!! We also have " quiet" time at home on weekends and during the summer. Sometimes family members fall asleep and sometimes they don't but everyone gets a break!

Nap time at WDW have always been referred to as 'rest'. DD would be out like a light. She is not a napper at home but late nights and early mornings (our touring style) means midday naps.

Cool, dark - book light and a few pages of her book if she wants and usually she is down for the count. She is 12 now and we have done this since our first trip when she was 5.

My youngest will nap in the stroller, my middle is questionable. We don't want to spend time go to & from for a midday break, so we found that once a meltdown was on the horizon, we'd go watch a show in the cool, dark, air conditioning, and it was just enough of a recharge for them to keep going. That, and find a shady spot with ice cream!

That being said, I should take more naps at home on my days off. If I wasn't making a retirement cake today, I would also just go lie down & rest my eyes, as my mother says!
