:welcome: ThumpersMommy.

I'll be coming through in a bit to officially welcome all of our new friends.

:goodvibes

You are correct- all one building, so no building numbers. Just Yacht Club, Beach Club or Beach Club Villas.

The number of the room closet to the EPCOT walkway is Room 1501. If you go to the Beach Club Room post, there is a description and pictures of the "Super Secret Beach Club Entrance/Exit"

:thumbsup2

Thank you for your fast reply and the answer to my question!!! This site is very informative and I can't wait to go to the BC.:yay:

page 186-191

I was going to order Folgers single pods from Garden Grocer.......I assumed those would fit?

I have no idea... keep reading...

:)

As far as the coffee pods go, if we are in a standard room will mouse keeping provide enough pods for our family to have 2 cups each daily ( 4-8 pods). I am trying to figure out what we will need to purchase at the grocery store on the way from the airport.

Yes, let mousekeeping know how many you want- leave a note or call directly.

:thumbsup2

This is probably kind of a silly question, but I've actually never made hotel reservations before, so I'm a little new to this stuff.

I just booked a trip to BC for my sister and me. I booked it online, and couldn't quite figure out the "Requests" section of the online reservation thing, so I just left it blank. I'd sort of like to request a full balcony and two queen beds. Do I just call Disney to add it to my reservation, or am I out of luck because it's already booked?

:welcome: to the DIS and this thread!

When is your trip? Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1- lists the dates for upcoming trips to the resort by guests

:cool1:

I gave an answer to your question about adding a room request (call Disney's Central Reservation Office)

Hi all! I'm new to this thread as I'm dabbling in the idea of staying BC with our kiddos. We are currently booked at an AoA suite, but a TA friend can get us a good rate so we are thinking of splurging on two rooms at BC. Especially since we couldn't get any discount for AoA...no free dining.

A couple questions...does everyone in my family really need to bring à room key to get in the pool? Does a CM work the gate? I can see this leading to many lost room keys with my boys;)

Also, I would really like one of the rooms at least to have a daybed, and a full balcony. Are these requests usually met? Thanks for any help!:cheer2:

Is the beach club really big and spread out? Are there any not so great rooms that are a hike to the pool or bus stop?

:welcome:

Let us know if you do decide to book at the Beach Club.

You can add a request for "Close to Lobby"- rooms that are near the lobby will also be convenient to the pool and transportation.

:goodvibes

Been lurking for awhile, have found lots of great information for our upcoming visit. But still have a couple of questions:

We will be using the DDP with mugs, a previous post said that the "Ale and Compass Lounge in the Yacht Club resort (coffee/tea self-service, juices and soda behind the bar, until 12 Noon for mug refill"

Do you know what kind of juices you can request to fill mug? My kids do not drink soda. What about milk?

Also, we will be stopping at grocery store for some snacks and water before we arrive. I have checked in online already with an estimated arrival time of noon, as we will be arriving before official check in: If my room is ready before 3, will I get a text? Or do I have to check in that I am early? I plan on picking up some refrigerator items and don't want them to spoil waiting for my room.

Thanks!

:welcome: to the DIS and this thread!

When is your trip? May I add you to the Be Our Guest list?

:yay:

Excellent question about what is available for the mugs. I'm not sure if they will fill your mug with OJ from the bar, now that I think of it, maybe not since I don't think you can get that from the Marketplace or other refill locations.

I'll revise the posts on the first page if it misleading.

It would be a great thing for someone to ask on an upcoming trip!!!

Here's the view from YC 3237 (standard view)

Thanks for posting those pictures. That is an interesting view!!!

:goodvibes

If you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate if you could add these pictures to the YC view thread.

I still have to add my BC view pictures once I weed through and pick out the best of the 103 pictures I took from the balcony of my room a few weeks ago.

:rotfl2:

I started up two View Threads in the Resort Photo Subforum:

Beach Club Room Views

Yacht Club Room Views

The purpose of these threads is to give some samples of rooms in various view categories at the Yacht and Beach Clubs.

I asked this on the resturant boards b/c my DD Loves mickey waffles and isn't a huge of of eggs (actually she hates them lol). A father told me he walks over to Captain's Grille and (this is where I am a bit confused) and does he pay a buffet price? And then asks for a carry out container and he just throws a half dozen mickey waffles in the bag for his family and brings it up to their room. And he said he wasn't the only person doing this?

So I guess the question is...is it ok to do this ? On one hand you are paying one price for "buffet" but feeding your family with mickey waffles, but you are only taking a few? Not even sure how much the buffet is. Anyone ever heard/done this?

We are also bringing cereal and bagels for DD b/c our food options are pretty limited she doesn't like eggs and has a peanut/tree nut allergy so breakfast over at the boardwalk bakery probably wouldn't be safe for her.

Also anyone know how much mickey waffles are from room service? And how long does it usually take for them to bring it up?

Captain's Grille offers an a la carte menu as well, not just a buffet and they do have Mickey Waffles on the kid's menu for $6.49 or something close to that. Maybe people do that, and are not paying the buffet price and loading up on waffles. It's probably cheaper to go get them there than order from room service and pay all the extra
fees.

Ok, dilemma time.

It's not really a bad thing...in fact it's a nice problem to have. ;)

I have an AP that is set to expire on 8/22, or rather, that is my "Anniversary Date."

We currently have 2 WDW trips planned for the upcoming year. :lovestruc

We'll be at YC from Dec 4-8.
Then we'll be at BC from 8/17/14-8/23/14.

Perhaps in looking at all the dates, you've figured out my problem.

I can renew my current AP at a discounted rate ($95 back in my pocket), if I do it within 30 days of my anniversary date (8/22). The "problem" is, my trip next year is scheduled to run until 8/23...leaving me with one day with no park tickets. I'm trying to decide if it's worth $95 to not go to a park on my last day. I'm a big fan of flying out late on my last day, sooooo...I'd have to busy myself in SAB, or going to DTD etc. all day. It will be so hard not to sneak back into Epcot for a Grey Goose or a German wine flight! The 23rd next year is also a Saturday, so there's the smallest chance we may extend as I won't need to be back to work until Tuesday......meaning we could possibly stay until Monday.

Argh...decisions...decisions....

Thoughts?

I don't know if you're interested in using the upcoming FP+, but you would not be able to use it to book that day ahead of time if your pass expires while there without having another pass. But I'm not sure you'd be able to do it ahead anyway if the pass has not been activated. I think that's something they are trying to figure out with this new system.

And I never understood this towel animal

Palm tree?

I'm going with mushroom. It certainly looks like a fungi!

:lmao:

I've always thought this too! Especially after this appeared on our table during one stay at POR:

Love that! Mrs. Potts?

I can show Mousekeeping towel animals at their best! Look what we got at POR in April!

That is awesome!

I personally like the decor, theming, and compactness of WL better than BC

BC standard rooms are bigger, SAB crushes the WL pool
WL has a better store and has RF
BC has HH and BnC
Walk to Epcot, boat to HS vs boat to MK

Very tough call for me. I think I prefer WL but very close

I have a few resort comparisons on page 2 of the thread, I think. May I add this?

:)

We start our first family Disney vacation at the Beach Club in just over a month, and I've found this thread to be invaluable. What a great community of Disney and Yacht and Beach Club enthusiasts! :thumbsup2

I've gotten a few key questions answered by you all, and I'm hoping you can help me out again. We're going to get the free Dining Plan with the Resort Drink Refills. Where, exactly, can you refill your drinks?

It sounds like:
- Ale and Compass
- Beach Club Marketplace
- Hurricane Hanna's

Is there anywhere else? I was thinking there might be free standing refill stations in some part of the hotel, but maybe they need to have RFID enabled to allow for that?

Just asking because I likes my morning coffee, and I don't think the 2 pods shown in the recent photos (THANKS FOR THOSE!) are going to do it for me.

:welcome:

May I add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1? September?

:cool1:

No freestanding refill stations in the resort, but having one somewhere in YC would be helpful. Just not sure where it would go.

Anyone know- can you still refill your mug at the Beaches & Cream takeout window?

We just booked our first Disney cruise!! Followed by 4 nights at BCV!!!! Yay!! April 2014, can't wait to go to SAB!!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest List

:woohoo:

I even brought a tape measure!

You say that like not everyone does!

:confused3

We are leaving in 34 days, and I just talked my hubby into letting me change from the Poly to the Beach Club. We do the Poly every year and he LOVES it, so I'm hoping the Beach Club will not disappoint! Any tips would be greatly appreciated :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for September.

:yay:

You will love being able to walk to EPCOT and being so close to HS.

You may want to add a request for a full balcony to your reservation. About half of the balconies at the resort are smaller, standing only balconies.

Take a few minutes to skim over page 1, especially the FAQ and Other Useful Info posts to help get you acquainted with the resort.

:thumbsup2

We leave in a few weeks. This will be DS3's third trip to WDW, but first at BCV. We haven't told him yet. I think he will love the pool and sandcastle building area.

Since he is not able to swim yet, should I bring a life jacket for him? I know they have them at the pool, but I just wonder how readily available they are. Any input would be helpful.

We have only one ADR for the trip, at our favorite Cape May Cafe for dinner. May have to try breakfast there sometime as well.

Any tips/suggestions for things to do at BCV with little kids? Is there a playground? TIA!

:welcome:

Would you like me to add you to the Be Our Guest list? September?

:goodvibes

Unfortunately, there is no longer a playground at the resort.

The sand area of Stormalong Bay and the kiddie pool and slide below the big Jib Slide are great for little kids.

At night, if it is not too late, there is a campfire/marshmallow roast and a nightly movie.

Hi all!
I just wanted to thank you all for (1) being so very nice. I constantly see people freaking out around here about some strange things. I appreciate you putting up with us newbies! (2) Thank for you for all the time you have spent putting together theses FAQ and threads. Mother and I are off on a girl's week Sept. 13-21 with our very first stay at BC... or any Deluxe for that matter! I am so excited!!!!

Now, I have to ask, what exactly is in a Sunken Treasure? I saw a photo and decided that is the beginning of my vacation. :worship:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

For more info and more spectacular glamour shots of the Sunken Treasure, plus the recipe for the home version- check out the Community Post on Page 2 of this thread.

I am new to this site so sorry if this question has been asked before- what are the building numbers that are closest to the Epcot walkway? I have looked at the resort map but it doesn't have any numbers. Please help!! Thanks.:cheer2:

Here's your official

:welcome:

When is your trip?

:cool1:

Still no sign of missing bunny

Lost and Found said to try again in 2 days after laundry is sorted

So far DD is fine about it...

:wave2:

Thanks for slipping out of lurkdom for a few minutes!

I do have you on the Be Our Guest list for December, but I'll add your dates to the listing.

I think the 3 places you can get Mickey Waffles at the Beach & Yacht Club are:

BC: Cape May Café- character buffet breakfast

YC: Captain's Grille- a la carte menu or buffet- I don't think reservations are really necessary in the morning. About a 3 minute walk from BC lobby to YC lobby

Room Service- here is a menu link from the first page of the thread

In Room Dining Menu Link- from allears website: In Room Dining Menu

.
 Right back at ya!

Thank you for adding our dates! (totally missed the FD and RO discount, but hey..it's all good :thumbsup2)

Thank you for this information! Good to know the walk is short one...hungry children in the morning + walking/foraging for food = disaster. LOL..

Ask at the guest services windows that handles the AP renewal dates if you can have the renewed AP expire on the 8/23/14 date. Tell them you have a trip planned. They may or may not be able to help you out but you'll never know unless you ask. I would think that since it's a renewal they might extend you that small courtesy..... but I'm not the boss* so who knows.

If they can't extend the expiration date by one day then just plan on doing shopping/bowling/drinking after a morning in the pool on 8/23/14.

Anyone know- can you still refill your mug at the Beaches & Cream takeout window?

Yes, I did last week, but I don't think it's their favorite thing to do. I had to wait until the paying customers were taken care of, then she rinsed out a metal milkshake cup, filled it with ice and soda, and poured it into my mug. I felt like I was being a pain. My boys were eating ice cream just outside and I didn't want to go over to HH.

Thank you! Nice to know there is a buffet...but other service as well!!

Uhg...this is in reply to...Eleanor? THank you for replying to my question about BC breakfast options...Sorry..lack of understanding how to reply...

To clarify, I am one of "those dads" that goes over to captain's grille to get my "particular" (ie, somewhat spoiled) toddler his mickey waffles. I may have even been the person who responded to original question, but it would have several weeks/months ago when I posted that. As beebee guessed, I do NOT buy a whole buffet, I get the mickey waffles a la carte but I "pre-warn" both the host and the waiter, and have them brought out directly in a "doggie bag" (along with the other "suckers" - I was not the only one doing it, and the waiter is never surprised by my request). The only caveat with that is that you are still expected to tip (it is not waiter's fault you are getting to go, and in fact, he/she has to do more work to pre-wrap, etc). Also, while service is pretty quick, it does take some time for each of the steps in this process -to walk to the restaurant, take a few minutes to get seated, place order, wait for order, pay, then walk back to room (possibly stopping at marketplace also for rest of group). To make it worthwhile, I also will get one or two of their specialty items for the room (choc pancakes, etc). Also, while they will usually give you honey and jelly packets, they do not always have syrup packets, so have to stop at marketplace, which also does not always have them. But even our guy was smart enough to know not to complain after daddy had obviously done all that.

Our cable company is running a contest right now to win a four night trip to the Beach Club next year during the Flower and Garden Festival. You can enter daily. My fingers are crossed that this is one we win.

Hey not sure if someone answered this and I missed it. Ow long is the walk to the Dolphin? And has anyone rented a car from National that had an j can't car seat- how was it? We are just getting the car for our trip from the airport and dinner at Ohana the first night. I really don't want to lug a car seat. (And just for those that care- if I determine that the car seat doesn't look safe enough or is gross we will just cancel the car and take DME transportation to the hotel. But I'm hoping the car rental works out. It would be a big help that first day.)

Have you considered DME to the hotel and a cab to O'hana? No car seat is necessary in the cab and it will cost between $15-$20.

I have considered that. But a one way rental is only $60ish dollars. By the time I cab each way to Ohana it is not much savings. And this way I can stop at the store on the way and grab diapers and breakfast items if I want. :) oh and our reservation at Ohana is cutting it close so this way will be quicker than DIsneys not so express magical express. Plus I don't feel too safe driving with DS in a cab without a car seat.
