Has anyone rented a car from the Dolphin? I use National and was curious about anyone's experiences. It seems a lot more convenient to rent here than the Car Center. Thanks in advance.

Well...the plan is to drop the car we rent at the airport off there next week. I know they have limited hours, but I agree-it does seem way more convenient.

Yes, we did it last summer to have a car to go shopping for a couple of days. Walked over to Dolphin and went inside to the desk. They hand you the paperwork and you go out to the valet and they bring your car around. You don't pick your own like at the airport. Returning is even easier...the valet takes it from you at the front of the resort. Very easy.

It drives me nuts when people try to stir the pot and also when people get attacked because they don't share the same opinion. That's why this thread is such a breath of fresh air and the friendliest one on the DIS! We don't have any of that garbage.

Let me tell you how much I miss BC....A LOT! I wish I could live there...maybe the Kingdom Keepers will want someone to do this as preparation for their newest adventure...."Who took Johnny Depp from Beach Club's Stormalong Bay? The Adventures of JD"

Doing ok. Sore sometimes but I am feeling much better than I was earlier in the week. Cuts and scrapes and bruises are healing and I don't look like I lost a fight with a gorilla I start coaching my high school soccer team on the 19th so I need to heal quickly

Question regarding room projected renovation status for sept/oct 2014. We usually go in sept or. Oct (this year we went during mothers day week, which was also great). If our 2014 trip is again in late sept or oct, any estimate on status of yc or bc renovations? Interestingly, on our last trip (first bc ever), my wife had been adamant that we NOT get a first floor room, and that was literally our only request other than being near the grandmas room (my mom and her mom shared a room). But as it turned out, my wife thought it was decent (easier access to marketplace, exits, etc), and the moms LOVED it, partic b/c we were right at bc quiet pool, so they could easily sit on porch (or even poolside) and relax in morning with their coffee/tea while we wrangled our son to get ready. With all that, we would love to do either bc or yc first floor. If not, we would go back to our standby dolphin, which tends to cost much less than bc/yc - but wow, did we like sab and the bc quiet pool.

Thanks for this information. I love this thread. This is a great idea for getting from the airport to the YC. It is way cheaper than a private car and it allows us to stop at the store on the way, AND drive to dinner at Ohana. And we can just return it the next day! So excited! For the day we need it in November it's 43 without using any discounts!

Anyone know about using a rental car car seat. That's my only question- to bring the car seat or not. We will just take depressing express back to the airport.

At this point we really don't know. Projected start date is early 2014, but I don't think that is even set in stone yet. Not sure how long it will take to complete each floor. We will have a better idea, I think, once the work starts.

I guess my only suggestion is to book what you want. Disney seems pretty good about cancellations and working with you to switch resorts if it looks like the work will be of concern during your stay.

We will post info as we get it, but right now, until a start date is made firm and we know how long the work is taking, I don't think we can make any predictions that far out.

I am becoming more and more convinced that the more I read those types of threads (there is one on the TP board right now about the monorail going down the other day)-the more I dislike WDW. Which is why I tend to "hang" here, no excessive negativity.

Me and 2 of the girls are getting our hairs cut today and I'm picking up a script for vacation...DH has begun his 2 week vacation from work (well deserved!!!) and we will slowly pack. I gave the gals their packing lists last night and went over the grocery list for our SSR part of the stay. Will ring my neighbor to go over what needs to be done with the garden, chickens and the basset hound while we're away & TXT my friend who is taking care of the 7 month old cockapoo pup. This vacation is bound to be laid back...

I've made a couple of posts on that thread and am trying to keep my cool. I hope I'm not one of the nasty ones! The OP on that thread is doing a "great" job at not being blatantly rude, as in the moderators couldn't really pick on him/her, but gently poking at people who disagree with him or her. You can practically read the smirk on his/her face.
