Hello all. I know there are several BC-lovers-who-have-stayed-at-BWI here and hope to get that specialized opinion. We are thinking of moving to BWI to take advantage of free dining and for a couple other logistical reasons (I bought best value MYW tix from undercover tourist thinking I would upgrade to the actual days we need when we got on site but didnt think through that I won't be able to book FP+ ahead of time for those extra days. Oops.). It appears that FD will be very, very limited, if not excluded, at YC & BC our week.

So, anyhoo, for families who have stayed at both...my main question is: will we look at SAB across the lake and feel miserable that we aren't enjoying the fabulousness? I don't think rooms and location are that different, but my oldest is sad that we won't have the pool. Are there any other pros and cons from BC fan's perspective? I think BWI has come a long way in fixing their QS and mug situation which always deterred me before. We will be going to water parks for the first time and I hope that allays the disappointment a bit.

Feel free to message me...I realize cluttering this thread with BWI questions isn't cool but i trust you experts! :)

Cheers to all DISers with Veuve from France!

That looks great!!!

Loved meeting you and your family:). Hope to run into you again in the parks!!!!

Teena and Cathy: congrats on the awards!!!!

Thanks Franc! :goodvibes

I think I have you beat wishing4pa! Last year DH & I were in the very last room down that hallway on the 4th floor! So we had a side window face BC & then the balcony acing the water. Now I paid LV for that room in that area & you have SV? Very interesting, I thought seeing the roof was weird. The year before our 1st night at BC was in the farthest room on the end of the 4th floor nearest to YC! What's the likelihood of that? I think it's because those are king bed room which we requested.
I am pretty sure our view was standard despite being able to see as much as we could. We had booked the SV, and from the 3rd floor you really do see too much roof for them to get away with calling it LV without making people mad. Oddly enough, by the time we left, that hallway seemed a little less long, so I must have gotten used to the walking. I'll try to post a picture taken from the balcony whenever I get the pics all on the PC and figure out how to post them here.
It does sound like you had about 20 extra feet to walk. And those last 20 feet are the worst, ouch!

Ok, so 4oz of champagne goes fast. I doubled up in France. Don't judge me. Lol. Cheers again.

Yum!!!

I guess I need to change our Be Our Guest list again! After military discounts came out yesterday, I had to upgrade to lagoon view (I know, what a bummer!). We also changed the first reservation to BWI from AoA since no discount available there. Another bummer, I mean 8 nights at an Epcot resort during F&W? Oh the horrors! So excited that military discounts were extended another year!

ETA: now it's time to go back and figure out lagoon view rooms and make myself at home at the BWI thread. Did I mention we moved our check in date back (eliminated one day, but oh well) so now I've had to refigure park days and change dining. It's like planning a new vacation and I kind of love it!

Got our wrist bands, so glad I read the boards and knew to check and pick colors. Still haven't received an official email yet but I guess since the bands arrived it means we are part of the test lol. I expect to get an email soon. The packaging was pretty impressive. I look forward to trying them out!

Guess where we are? Picking up pizza to bring home to eat for dinner less than one mile from our house! We. Are. Finally. Home!

Our WDW vacation is officially over for 2013. :-(

Bring on 2014 planning! I'm thinking June.....

Welcome home! Sad as it might be to be home again you get to start planning a new trip. Nothing like that in the whole world! :goodvibes

Catho and RWathen...please report this!
This sounds like a recurring problem and there should be NO recurring problems in a deluxe resort (or any business for that matter). Please report this so others don't have to go through what you did!

I agree. It is not often that I feel the need to to laundry when we are vacationing at WDW, but over the years it HAS happened. If I arrived at a laundry room in any WDW resort and found it to be in poor working order and dirty I would be angry. I would think that management would want to hear this from someone who loves the resort instead of someone who is looking to get something out of their complaint.

I need to exhale and and extend a big refreshing thank you to the participants of this thread. Your good nature and positive outlook is infectious. After spending the last few days participating in multiple discussions about MagicBands and FP+ I am exhausted from what feels like negative vibes. My customized bands arrived today and the kids were super-excited to see their names on both the box and the band. I admit the presentation is quite nice and I may be as excited as them :cool1:

Thanks to you folks I can't wait for our first YC stay. See you at SAB (I'll be the guy with a shaved head rockin' a red MagicBand)!!

Here are the bands if anyone is curious

Our bands came today too! It was really fun to open the box and see them. My kiddos are SO excited.

How exciting! I am looking forward to hearing all the reports from you all who are going to be using these over the next few months. We have over 75 trips to WDW under our belts and have seen many changes over the years since our first visit. This is the one that puzzles me the most. I am hoping all the bumps have been smoothed out before our trip in October/November. My family has always relied on me for expertise. So I am relying on y'all! :rotfl:

Lol. That's fascinating. Minor details impress me! I can't believe I never noticed. I'm going down to check it out & show DH & DS...once they wake up that is.

As many times as we have stayed at the BC I never knew this! Never knew there were different daybeds either. Y'all are a wealth of knowledge, even for an oldtimer like me! Thank you! :goodvibes

Congrats to you, Teena. Well deserved award and how nice that Disney recognizes all you do in that area. :)

catho72 - good for you too!!! :yay:

Yes last 20 feet are the worst because my poor DH that has had multiple knee surgeries! The room was big though & we had the king bed. The view was great except the roof! Next time I may ask for near elevator. It seems that at the outer ends of the building there really needs to be another set of elevators!!

Since we have APs we don't do Free Dining, but isn't one of the requirements that you purchase passes with the room? If not, I am sorry.

We like BWI a lot too. I would not mind a switch from BC if it would save money in the long run.

Dang I really wanted to get the Magicbands for our upcoming Sept trip to BC since it's a surprise trip wife and i thought the bands would be an awesome way to surprise the kids at the airport.

About the laundry situation. When I was at the beach club June 20th to the 26th the laundry room by the quiet pool had one broken washer and one broken dryer but the two front loading washing machines were wonky. I was there at 6:00 am with three loads to do. The two front loading machines got down to 1 minute left in the cycle but did not cut off. I went outside to see if there was a line to maintenance (there is) but then I went back in and looked to see if I could unplug them. Just about the time I was reaching to unplug them to get them to stop spinning they shut off. That was about 5 minutes after the 1 minute was displayed. I am sorry that I forgot to address the issue with the front desk. It seems like it has been a problem for awhile. I was previously at POR as well and did several loads there and had no broken machines. I hope BC fixes this soon.

Hello Everyone. I stayed at the Beach Club last summer and never made a report about it. I had a Deluxe Room and I must say it was one of the best rooms and Concierge service that I have had. The reason for my delay is that unfortunately I became very ill on my trip. I started my vacation walking and left in wheelchair. I had Double Pneumonia and Renal Failure. Went from the plane to the Hospital. But that's not what's important. I had heard some bad things about the Concierge Service and let me tell you they were absolutely wonderful. I thought the lounge was roomy enough, the Cast members all friendly and they did their best with my special diet requirements. As far as them hovering over anyone ( I saw someone complain about that) I did not find any such thing. Did they pay attention and grab your dishes when you were done? Absolutely, but because it's small and there isn't much room they almost have to. Never were they intrusive always polite and friendly. We had the best room, 2nd floor with a huge balcony. On our first night one of the Cast Members loaded our refrigerator up with sodas. I can't compliment the Beach Club enough, when I took ill they provided me free of a charge a Wheel chair ( I could no longer walk) . On our last day, I could barely move and my kid's went upstairs and asked the Concierge Cast members if there was somewhere I could go as I was so sick. The let us stay in the room until 6pm. I loved it there and really wanted to go back, but my nightmare of a trip is still fresh in my mind and I just can't right now. Hopefully my next trip I will be able to. Just loved it there though. :)

Sorry to hear of your illness
Thanks for sharing your experience!
