We did reschedule 10/31-11/3 BC GV but I am still so disappointed. I was so looking forward to this trip. Oh well, it was one of those days...

I will now start planning for our Food and Wine trip

Less than 2 weeks to go! My kids know we are going to Toronto, but not when, and do not know about Disney. Unfortunately we have a beastly layover as a result of us coming from opposite ends of the country (DD flying in from out west where she is visiting my sister for a week, we are all meeting up in Toronto airport and the next flight to MCO is 6 hours after our arrival and 5 hours after DDs...). I asked the kids tonight if they had to have along layover would they still want a vacation, and they were unsure, since we've never had that long a travel day before. Hopefully it wont be too trying! I'm rethinking my money saving idea of one night at Pop before heading to the YC in the morning, Might make a call tomorrow to see about what the difference will be to switch...

When I lived in Buffalo I would drive up to the Toronto airport and fly overseas from there. I would usually get their five or six hours ahead of time and the waiting wasn't that bad. Plan a nice, slow dinner (or breakfast/lunch) and maybe hit the shops, that's what I usually did. The time always went by faster then I expected.

Me too, although I would probably take a one morning inconvenience to days of rain.

ScottMC- love the cat picture. I had a cat who was addicted to grape jelly- if I left a piece of toast unguarded, it was all over! I've never had one that liked alcohol though (not that I've tried!!)

We had a cat who LOVED corn on the cob.

With the 30% off discount I was able to upgrade our room at the yacht club from a garden room to a lagoon/pool view. I was fine with a garden view/standard view but with the discount it wound up being 600 dollars less with the view (go figure) so I had no choice but to switch

I'm not a huge fan of elevators are you able to get a lagoon/pool view on the 2nd floor so I can take the staircase up there to my room?

Not sure exactly where the stairs are located (is there a set near the lobby? is there a set near the elevators or are they away?)

Hi Beach/Yacht-Clubbers! This is my first post on this thread...because I just made my first reservation at BC/YC!

DH and snagged a garden view room at YC for Oct. 18-20 with the 30% RO discount. It's only 2 nights, but I figure it'll give us a good feel for whether or not we like the resort. (After that, we're off to AKL CL for 4 nights and then the Disney Dream CL for 3 nights - phew!) We also have dinner reservations at Yachtsmans steakhouse for Oct 19.

Any other advice/tips/hints/thoughts for first-timers would be good, too. I've read all the FAQs on here and also the resort page on all ears, and I've been to beaches and cream before so I've seen the resort, so I feel like I know a little bit. But it's always good to get the inside scoop...

I think pretty much all of my tips are there, somewhere, on Page 1. But I am always learning new things here, so just keep reading until your trip!

We have reservations for a late Saturday evening dinner at Narcoossee's, the plan was to ride the bus to MK, then transfer to the Monorail, do the monorail tour of the MK resorts (to include grabbing a drink at the Poly) before stopping at GF for dinner. Then cabbing it back to BC.

Has anyone done something similar? I'm wondering how much time to allot for the bus and monorail?

I have not done this, but I'll take a stab at part of it.

10 minute wait for bus (our wait is usually shorter)
15 minute ride to MK (I timed this)
7-10 minute leisurely walk to resort mono
5 minute wait for mono
Then, whatever time you spend on the mono and stops.

I have a room booked at Beach Club for my family..four of us. My son is 16 and my daughter is 9 will be close to ten. The reason I picked BC was because of the two queen beds and day bed option (like we had at the Poly) . Called today to confirm a few things and was basically told "Not guaranteed (which I knew) if there's a family of five they'll pull it from you because you only have four."

What do I do? My only guarantee of three beds was bunks at WL or AKL. Hubby wants to wait it out and see what happens but he's against DS and DD sleeping in the same bed at their ages....just his thing. I'm nervous if we get there and all we get is two queens he's going to flip. What are my chances of it all working out...meaning do the majority -- or more than not -- have the two queens/day bed option for rooms? For the record, I checked switching to Poly too because I love it there and nothing was available and she said that wasn't a guarantee either. Gah!

This is what I was hoping for and when I called and asked (the reservation line mind you) they "don't do cots" anymore. Worst case scenario I don't want to get down there and pay $2000 + for a room and have someone without a bed.

When is your trip? Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list?

The info you were given from the reservation line was not correct- there are rollaway cots available at the Beach Club, as others have posted.

For your room request, I would suggest "Daybed please, teenage son and daughter on reservation"

When you checkin, ask if your room has a daybed. If not, ask if there is one available, or when one will be available if you are willing to move. If there are no rooms with daybeds available, request the rollaway.

I was going to post a almost-live picture of SAB and those threatening clouds that have already been mentioned, but the 4 AM wake up has caught up to me. We had some trouble with the Magic Bands today too, but right now there is someone from IT here from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, 6 days a week, to help sort out problems. If anyone here now is having problems, he's at the front desk.

Despite the issues, it's fun to have the bands! (Shhh -- we could get paper FPs today too.)

For anyone curious about the Photopass+, yes, you have to redeem the certificates at a sales center despite how the Facebook info can be read.

Thanks for the updates on the Magic Bands. We arrive around 8 pm for our trip in two weeks and want to make sure we will be good to go the next day

Yes, yesterday started bad and ended worse . I was amazed that I walked miles on the shoulder of the road because there was no shoulder and was fine but when I was walking my dogs in the neighborhood on the sidewalk I was hit crossing the street.The bright spot was when I got to hold my niece Olivia for an hour and a half uninterrupted in the afternoon

Oh my gosh Couchy! How horrible! I feel so bad for you. Glad your doggies are OK, though.

The guy that hit me attempted to yell at me at first for being in the street. My DH was livid and yelled at the guy that we were crossing the street in the crosswalk no less. The guy shut up especially when DH asked him what type of person yells at the women lying in the street hurt after getting hit with a car

Don't know what will happen but we will definitely follow up . He seemed quite annoyed that we were in his way. The police came and took a statement and their were several witnesses. The police did a a breathalizer on the driver but I have no idea what became of that.

I will keep you all updated on what happens.

Holy cow! I'm so sorry, but am very glad that you and your pups are ok. Did they get the person who hit you? DD7 and I were hit (although, unlike you, we were shielded inside of my car) when she was just 14 months old, and the guy tried to run. Thankfully, many bystanders jumped in, chased him down and got him. How long will you be in the hospital?

Glad to see you've at least rescheduled the trip, so that although you can't go as planned, you have a date to look forward to. Feel better very soon!!

No, we are in a different hospital than the one the princess was born. I am feeling a little better today just sore. Nothing they can do for the broken ribs but give it time they say. I am pretty fortunate that nothing major went wrong
