Don't park in the fire lane at Walmart!

This makes me mad. Wal-Mart has a MASSIVE parking lot, yet we still have the people who like to pull into the fire lane. It's there for firetrucks and the buses to pick up and drop people off, period. It's not for YOUR lazy butt to park your car while you "quickly" run in. I just don't get it. What makes people think they're so special? It says NO PARKING. If you are disabled you can park 15 feet away in the handicapped parking spot. Once a lady who rides the bus got so mad at a car blocking the bus she pushed her cart into the car right before she stepped on the bus.

ETA - oops! Wrong forum...meant this to go in CB.

I 100% agree with you on this one...I am married to a firefighter and he would shoot me if he ever caught me parked in a fire lane.. :firefight

That is what is wrong with the world today..People have become too darn lazy!!

Your wish is my command! :wizard:

couldn't agree more - see this all the time - and yet at Target I never see it - the only people at the curb at Target are stopping to have large items brought out - at Walmart the cars are lined up all along the curb..never ceases to amaze me. For the record, I do not shop at Walmart but pass through the parking lot to get from grocery store to Target without going back out to the highway.

it is pure and simple laziness. people will park there rather than walk 50 yards. and then dont realize why they get short of breath when they walk up stairs.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this :)

And do not park in the fire lane at Publix. Do not park in the fire lane at any grocery store. Do not park in any fire lane. I notice people park in the fire line at publix all the time. For those of you who don't know what publix is, well it's a grocery store. I will say that I have seen cops give people tickets for parking in the fire lane at Publix.

Yeah just stay out of fire lanes period! Not sure why this is a hard concept for some people. Some of the bus riders give the drivers a tongue lashing, it's quite funny!

I see it everywhere in my area. Walmart, Target, the mall, you name it. Even the days following 911, they still were doing it. Made me nervous!!

I totally agree. Not only are people more and more lazy, but they are also getting more inconsiderate. It seems like everything is always about me, me, me, and no one bothers to think of how their actions will inconvenience others.

What you can't see on the sign is the invisible print that says "except for ~insert name here~" Because only the person's whose name is on there can see that....that is why it is ok for them to park there :teeth: :teeth:

I helped my DD ring bells for Salvation Army this Christmas at Walmart and there was this guy sitting in the fire lane right in front of the little booth with his car running. It was very cold, single digits, so I thought ok he got the car someone will emerge momentarily with baby, older person etc. WEll 15 minutes later he is still there blocking the booth and making me smell exhaust. So I went up to the car knocked on the window and said he had to move for the above reasons. He wasn't happy but moved to a spot and I watched it was another 20 minutes till someone came out. He would have sat there for 40 minutes if I hadn't made him move. And the person in the store didn't put anything in the kettle!

What if there's a real emergency and they (emergency response etc.) need to get to the hydrant? I hope they mow the vehicle out of the way. It's dangerous and not worth the risk. You so californiaer's remember that "Shame on You segment" on the evening news? This would definately qualify as one.

well if a firetruck can park in the regular parking lot when the firefighters need to shop for dinner--everyone else can too.

Rediculous!

This is a pet peeve of mine. I have no problem with someone pulling up and letting someone out, then moving on to a space. Or even pulling up to let someone standing in front of the store in. But except in very rare circumstances, it shouldn't even be used as a loading dock.

The Wal-Mart in the town I used to live in had this probalem until the cops began hanging around in the parking lot and ticketing any unattended car in the fire lane. At $150 a pop, people got the hint really fast.

They also ticketed cars who illegally parked in handicapped spots, arrested shoplifters--I heard through a pretty reliable source (my cop neighbor :teeth: ) that they arrested on average three shoplifters a day there, during the holidays it would be a dozen or more...and Wal-Mart prosecuted any of them who were over 16 for any amount or under 16 and stole more than $50 worth of merchandise. Most of the people had to pay a fine and do community service. Crime at Wal-Mart became a financial boon to our town LOL! :lmao: :lmao:

I work at an Osco Drug and people are always parking in the firelane.

Once a car was right in the middle of it and a customer at RX fainted, we called 911 and the paramedics came. They couldn't get to the front because of the car, a woman was in it with some kids but didn't have the keys. We paged for the customer to come move the car and where was he---standing in line getting a prescription :confused3 As he walked to his car he said he knows he can't park there he is a policeman

I don't know how "real" it is but on Rescue Me they just busted the windows and dragged the hose right through the car, totally flooding the car.

It was pretty cool.

I've heard of this happening when people park in front of fire hydrants.

This doesn't seem to happen at our Walmart but people DO leave their carts all over the place. I have to say, though, our Walmart has their cart things down about 10 parking places, too far for a lot of the handicapped spots, which is where most of the carts are left. I have suggested several times that they put a cart corral near the handicap spots.
