Excitement at low cost.-------SHOOTING STARS

Sunday the 18th, Shirl and I are going to get up at 3:30 AM and run up to Valley Forge Park in PA. About a 20 minute run for us. Nice and dark, with no lights to fuzz the heavens.

Up here in the Northeast, they say the best time will be around 5 AM, with a 2 hour duration.

The weather up here is pretty mild and the sky should be clear. I believe it will be out of the southern sky.

I have seen this meteor shower twice in my life normally wrapped up in a goose down sleeping bag. This is an annual shower in November. SPECTACULAR !!!!!!!!!!!

They say this will be the Shower of all Showers till the year 2099. (thousands & thousands per hour, in the heavens).

Where ever you live, you may have to check locally----time & direction.

Try not to miss it. May the Skies be clear for you. Disney fireworks, in your backyard !!!!!

John,
Thanks for the info. I knew that it was expected, but hadn't heard the time. I'm here on the East Coast with you, so I think I'll take a quick trip outside to see what I can see. We got a telescope last year for Christmas so I'll put it to use.

John,
3 in the morning????
I wonder how many of the DIS members will be up that early? I know I iwll watch it on re-runs on the news.
Of course if they are giving away free pins! Peggie

John,

I usually take a bath on Sunday, do these things only work in the shower? You must be some kind of clean freak if you are willing to get up in the middle of the night, travel 20 miles and stand in the dark for a shower. Here in Arizona we get our water delivered right to our door and it is always warm so you don't have to worry about how long a shower you take. I did have one suggestion, if you have shampoo on your head then I would not look up to the heavens. You will get soap in your eyes and that really stings.

Jeff

We just got a deck built and a hot tub on it. If I'm getting up that early to be outside I want to stay warm...although the run to and from is interesting. I'm also getting my husband's christmas and anniversary present tonight....a telescope. Can't wait!!
