This was new to me since I had last been to Universal in 2004--or maybe I missed it because we loved the Shrek 4-D show. As you exit the Shek gift shop, sort of cat-a corner to the 4 D show, on a side street as if you were walking to Mel's, Donkey and Shrek have a meet and greet area set up. Sure it is a photo op, but you can take your own pictures as well.

Donkey is voiced by a dead on Eddie Murphy whom gives each person there own little personalized "show" he asks you questions, and teases you, etc.

Dh and I waited in line for a picture, and he teased us for a few minutes, then he re-newed our vows, very humorously!

What a riot--we found ourselves going back to listen to him over and over and over.

Thanks for the heads up! Sounds like a riot! Can't wait to check them out. :rotfl:

Wait a sec - I've been to Uni many times but never got close to one of the non-face characters - are you telling me that Donkey and Shrek actually TALK!?

Next trip, I'm spending the time in line!

I've got a dragon and I'm not afraid to use it! I'm a donkey on the edge!

Well, Donkey talks but not Shrek (not sure why). And Donkey is awesome!! I've seen him a few times and I dont know how many people they use, but every time I've been there, he sounds just like Eddie Murphy and it's not pre-recorded or anything, he's really talking to the guests.

Donkey is fantastic - my youngest DD went up to him and made that really annoying sound that he makes in Shrek 2 on the way to Far Far Away Land....he really laughed at her and the interaction was as good as with Spiderman (not feeling rushed just because there is a load of people queing up behind you!)

We also met Shrek at the HRH - we went up in the lift with him from the pool area to the lobby....he may not say anything but he was very funny. One of those moments that i hope neither daughters ever forget!!

Meeting Donkey was the highlight of our trip last year!
He's amazing. He talks!

We had the following conversation:

Donkey: I love your green sneakers.
Kath2003: Thanks! You know, I once got bitten by a donkey.
Donkey: I'm not gonna bite you.
Kath2003: I may be tasty?
Donkey: Hey! Hey! I'm a married Donkey!
Kath2003: Ah yes but Dragon's not here.
Donkey: ....true....Hey have you guys met Shrek?
Kath2003: *whispers* He's just a guy in a suit.
Donkey: Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

He also refused to have his picture taken with both my parents, claiming that Dad had to go have his picture taken with Shrek so he could have Mum all to himself ;)

Does anyone know if this is a new feature to the park? I do not remember it from Aug 2004.

I am still chuckling over some of the things he said to other guests as well as ourselves. :rotfl2:

Yes, it was well after Shrek 4D that they added Shrek and Donkey outside, it may have only been a year ago, but I cant say for sure.

They weren't there (I don't think) when we first went in Sep 2004 but were definitely there Sep last year.
