When the news came out that now DVC members can book vacation and do split DDP for instance:

5 night at BCV during Peak Christmas times and I only want to do DXDDP for first 3 nights and no DDP for the last 2 nights.

So I called DVC member site and was asking if this is doable? Well the normal respond was yes, but only for future reservations, unless, I wanted to risk canceling my 5 night reservation then re-booking the individual days separate, of course risking losing those nights if someone else gets my room in the middle of the transaction. :headache:

I was still not convinced that was the correct method from what I read some where, for those of us who already planned our trip before this new policy on allowing split DDP.

So I called DVC several more times on different days and still the CM told me, sorry cannot do for those already booked or risk losing some nights.

Thankfully, I did not give up. Tried again this week and a very helpful and friendly CM told me that it was Do-able...but it would take a supervisor about 10-15 min. to split my DVC room reservation and change the DDP to just the days I wanted. And NO I would not risk losing any of my nights.

However, make sure that this is what I wanted and of course I would have to pay for all DDP at the time this change was made.

AWESOME!!!!! So and that is what I did! :woohoo:

So now I am set...5 nights at BCV around Christmas time...using DXDDP for the first 3 nights and just planning on either cooking the last 2 nights or have the option of paying out of pocket for those nights.

Just wanted to share in case someone else wanted to split their DDP during vacation if your res. was prior to the new policy...Just tell DVC CM you want a Supervisor to split your resort stay and pay for the DDP for just the amount of days you wanted only.

While I have not heard it directly all indications are that supervisors have an abiltity to "hold" reservations that the first tier does not.

Hopefully they will "program" a better way to do this, since you can not split reservatin booked right at 11 or 7 months.

I did this week as well, and luckily I got a CM who knew what they were doing the first time around. She told me the same thing and it only took maybe 5 minutes...then I had to get the lecture i may have to move rooms. Let me say this, I won't be moving rooms.

Thanks! I thought I was crazy:scared1:I booked about 10 days ago and have been having the same problem:confused3 CM keeps telling me they would have to split my reservation and I could risk losing the room I have. Guess I will keep calling!

I was told that there is a difference between splitting reservations made before Oct. 11 (no risk) and those made since then. I called at an off-peak time to minimize chance of someone else grabbing my days.

Same boat, split 12- 16 - 12-24 stay, but there was some problem with the points, because now they were in holding and they are using my 2011 points to not lose the RSVP. they took a gift card for my dining plan, and stated they would charge it when they figured it out.
.. To be frank I am a little affraid, the DDP won't be there, or I will end up with holding points, or something else, but I guess I don't have a choice. If you are close to your ressie, like within 35 days, I would not have done this looking back. I called 5 days later and they stated.. oh don't worry we can always fix it after you go... this is me.. :scared1: Why not fix it now?

I think it is much harder to get them to change things like which points were used after the stay. Call again and talk to a supervisor. I would not start the trip before it is fixed.

My stay is in March '11, so I sent an email instead of calling. I asked that my existing 5 night reservation be broken into 1 night and 4 nights. (I did not have DDP added at this time, only the room ressie.)

I asked not to do this if I was at risk of loosing a night. And within 3 days, over Thanksgiving weekend, I received an email back stating the change was made and that I could call and add the DDP when I was ready.

No mention that I might have to move rooms as PP mentioned... so here's crossing fingers....

I was very concerned about doing the "split" for fear of loosing a night... I got the ressie via wait-list, so I wasn't gonna risk it. Perhaps via email is the best way right now if you don't have DDP added yet?

Mine did get cleared up yesterday, and as a side note.. I had points in holding from 2010 UY, and they became not in holding. They said they were so sorry for all the trouble.
I was super happy, I am in still going in Feb, but got to book room yest instead of waiting 3 more weeks.
I am not sure I would do it again, but it did work out.

Just got back from our 2 night split stay. Not only did we not have to move rooms as we were told was a very small possibility - but we got housekeeping services! I am guessing because technically we checked out and back in, although we never moved our bags or personal items. I was stoked about having the beds made and new towels. LOL.

We'll see if they keep this around - making this a Deluxe DP stay for one night as opposed to a basic DP stay for 2 nights saved us a tons of money. And we all got mugs. Mugs alone were "worth" $60. Kids loved having them.

We just got back, and a couple things.
1) we have 4 nights 1st no dining 2nd deluxe 3rd no dining 4th regular plan.

Night 1 was perfect, we as well had room cleaning. Actually every day. BEST WE didn't have to change rooms.

Picked up cards in morning, as we got a bill, and a check out page, they said I needed new cards for each reservation. Dining went smooth .. Until day 3, when I picked up day 3s cards Days 2 cards were no longer valid. I called the resort while at the park and they had me charge it to the room, and they did end up fixing it later.

All in all I save a ton of $$ by using the plan based on the TB Services we had and ended up with new mugs too. BUT it was a pain and every day I spent 15 mins OR MORE at the front straighting things out. I wouldn't do it again on our May trip, without things working out better. As it is a pain to have a 5 yr old wait for 20 mins at the front desk before you are hitting the parks.

Thanks for the report.

I'm going in April....and I split my 5 night stay to 4 night deluxe and last day nothing.
Said I wouldn't have to change rooms....but will have to get a new key for last night.

I have been hearing about problems with the key not working anymore on checkout.
I will get a signed letter and a phone number from manager at BCV when I get my new cards saying how many credits I have on my old card. Hopefully this will help.
Or better yet they have it straightened out by then...I mean it is over 4 months away.

As far as housekeeping.....I hope they figure this out before our dues go up:headache::surfweb:
