Just for clarity purposes-were in the UK.

May 2017 dmil is joining us again on vacation.she will be 87 & in a wheelchair.
We've stayed previously onsite in a 2 bed at okw & offsite in a 4 bed villa.

Whilst she loved okw ("best hotel she's ever stayed in!)
She adored the villa.

From our perspective -It's much cheaper to be offsite and book a moderate resort for part of our trip for free dining and all the wonderful onsite benefits.

This is what we did last year; however she didn't even get out of the car as the room at cbr was too far away from her & we couldn't get parked in a disabled bay.

My current quandary is -book the cheapest mod and we don't even offer to take her there.
Or book ssr studio (it's around £80 more) after we've upgraded from quick service to regular dining.
If we did-could have accessible room & sofa/balcony for her to chill in the afternoon rather than being alone in an offsite villa.

###please note; we don't leave her for long-
She's set up with snacks,tv,magazines etc..
-however I think sometimes she thinks an hour or 2 is like 4 when all alone.

Just a thought, is she able to operate a small scooter? We got my mom one last trip, and it was much easier that us pushing her. If so, if she felt more comfortable, she could still use wheelchair in the villa but the scooter outside? She could maybe even "scoot" around the hotel grounds while you were not there
But I don't know her physical limitations.

As a 65 yo who needed to use a scooter last trip I can tell you it is very taxing and exhausting. I still work full time and I am very active, but it was very nerve wracking. Folks dart in front of you, cut you off, stop short in front of you etc. You must pay absolute attention to where you are going at all times. From SSR she would need to drive it up a bus ramp and parallel park it, another challenge.
They certainly are not for everyone.

Oh I agree with that. You really have to pay attention. It was ridiculous how many people try to dart in front of the scooter.
I was just throwing it out there as an idea, but agree it is not for everyone
We went to the grocery store before our trip, and my mom practiced with the ones there, after a day she was backing up & parallel parking like a pro.
I would stay onsite if it's in the budget. The villa would give you a lot more room, and maybe be easier to come & go from the parks
Whatever you decide, have fun!!

There is absolutely no way Jose dmil would ever be able to operate a scooter..
Unless the resort and the parks were completely empty of guests!!!

No matter where we leave her; she will not have the opportunity to go off on her own.

Personally I would book on site so you can get back & forth easily. I would have her with you.
Good Luck
